Do you think that L4d2 will be overshadowed by Modern Warfare? It seems that if only 7 days after MW comes out, people may forget Left 4 Dead. I was wondering if it's likely I'll have to preorder L4D2 or not.
Naw, I don't think it will hurt it much. And besides, if you buy L4D2 on Steam, you don't have to worry about shortages. You will be able to play it the moment it is released, since you will already have it installed.

Nope.
MW2 will be an MTv style release, thousands of screaming idiots gushing about it, then having righteous fury over every little thing in it clearly intended to cause offence/discomfort. Meanwhile the smart ones will be quietly and smugly buying many, many copies of L4D2 and having a grand old time. In six months MW2 will be forgotten except for the avid fans and screaming teens, it'll have sold millions, but so do Xfactor winners and you still forget them.
Besides, we'll probably be playing L4D2 and getting updates 2 years from now, MW2 will be largely dead and buried by then (when was the last MW update that gave new content?).
I think that L4D has a more PC centered audience and what with the controversy over MW2 servers and general shit-ness it is possable that L4D will hold its own.
No way. The amount MW2 will screw PC users will see them return to L4D2 in droves. It's cheaper, will have better support, and is more fun to play with friends, in my opinion.

Seconded, although I do think that MW2 will have an underground following for a while.
I think L4D2 will hold a pretty large stake among PC-only players, but for the most part will be dominated on the consoles by MW2. And although MW2's move to MM on PC will alienate a few very very hardcore players (who will probably switch to BF:BC2), it will still be dominant for at least 6 months (longer if they have additional DLC planned), and will lord over the console games market for at least a year.

Oh yeah. Of course. I've payed my pre-order now, I'm still getting it. I just won't enjoy it, honest.

My prediction as well. Valve always does a good job of keeping it's customers satisfied over the years.

Oh, silly fanboys. Always entertaining.
CoD4 is still one of the most played games in the world, despite it not being updated in quite a while. It's played more than L4D, which does get updated.
I think L4D2 will be overshadowed a bit coming so close to MW2. They're largely aimed at the same demographic, so I think people will lean a bit more towards MW2 if they only purchase one game. L4D2 will still be a very popular game, but MW2 will definitely hurt it's sales.
Well they both have fans super pissed about how they are getting ripped off from features. Even though it is THEIR choice to buy the game that, "suckz lol" which they will anyway; then rave about how awesome it is. I swear 2/3rds of the people that are "boycotting" the game have most likely already pre-ordered it.

I've seen so many people saying "Oh, I'm definitely boycotting this game. But I'll probably get it anyways".

True, COD:MW2 will hurt L4D2's sales a little. Ex, I am not buying L4D2 until the next time there are no good games out kicks in. But they will both do well. Also Valve is not the only ones who tend to not rip off their fans. Infinity Ward doesn't as well. Valve keeps the content flowing, Infinity Ward created extremely high quality work.
Anyone who thinks that MW2 will be forgotten in 6 months clearly dose not see the power Infinity Ward has. Both will be fantastic and both will be played for years to come...prolly 2 years. I just dislike that Left 4 Dead 2 is out only a year after the first one but O well I trust Valve's choice.
Side note...Lego Rock Band? The Fuck Harmanox? The Fuck?

Yep. Saying MW2 will be forgotten in 6 months (which by the way is before IW even finishes releasing DLC, just an FYI) is pretty much retarded. It'll be the most played online game for 6 months at the very least, and even after that it will be top 3 most played until IW releases their next Call of Duty game. I'd bet money on that.

A full solar eclipse would be overshadowed by MW2.
No. Left 4 Dead will proably win the Computer gamers (After MW2 pretty much killed any hopes with them) and I got a good feeling a large portion of the console gamers will also buy it on release day.
I highly doubt it. Both have gotten plenty of publicity and both games have their own crowds waiting for them. Besides that, PC gamers will be all over L4D2, what with MW2 not supporting dedicated servers.
Maybe a little bit. If I amplified the amount that I care about the November releases until I wanted both games and only had enough money to buy one of them (possibly because I would've at that point purchased an ungodly amount of copies of assassin's creed 2) I would definitely go with MW2.

really gushing idiots that's extremely unfair, they both look like good fun, but type casting MW2=idiots and lfd2=smart is sad, grow up.
As for which one to buy if you have a good PC get lfd2 first, and if you are more console oriented grab MW2. You should be able to have great time no matter which you choose.
