Like I said in the other thread, it really is. You don't need an account to sign, it's an actual petition. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2275 Joined: 16 Dec 2008 | Sure I'll sign could care less about Modern Warfare but Activision piss me off royaly with unethical buisness practices like this. And stop giving leway to developers guys grow some backbone as customers and put some ice on that great big Activision stiffy. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 641 Joined: 9 May 2009 | I really could copy and paste another post I had made on the same topic, but the OP seems a bit more aggressive, and I'd probably get called out on it. (it was very sarcastic) Anyway, in less words, deal with it. You say you hate idiots? (hit mute or just disconnect your microphone) Y'know what I hate? PEOPLE IN PARTIES WHILST PLAYING A TEAM GAME. Talk to your team, if they talk back coherently, it's strategy, you'll win! Try it, guaranteed within 15 days to make you suck less! |

Seriously? Because until I have an actual retail box in my hand and that message is on my screen then I won't fully believe that a developer has made such a nonsensical move. They're removing a major feature (and one of the main features of the NXE when it was released last year) of the Live service... Maybe IW think this will encourage teamwork as you can only talk to your team and no one else in-game. |

I prefer to game with friends instead of alone. That's hardly unreasonable. As for strategy... HA! In CoD? HA! There is no strategy. Nobody ever talks tactics or teamwork. Try it and nobody plays along. You just start talking military nonsense and nobody talks because they're all in parties, or don't care. Proper, professional clans use genuine teamwork, not randoms on the internet. You don't need teamwork. Anybody half clever enough to play with strategy is probably playing with friends, happier by themselves or will help you out without talking. Left 4 Dead? Borderlands? Operation Flashpoinr : Dragon Rising? See a theme? They pretty much require chat. No mic in L4D and that Witch'll gut your team alive. No speaky in Borderlands and a group of Badass Corrosive Alphas will gnaw your legs off. And not talking in OF : DR is nuts, you'll just die. Because it is a realistic shooter. Vaguely anyway. Not the kind of Call of Duty "reealizm" that surmounts to good graphics and human looking environments. In Call of Duty you just don't need to talk, but IW thinks that instead of having a relaxed game talking to my friends I have to, with no options, speak to my team. |

Guess what - I'd call you one of those idiots - use your brain before you post. You think I really want everyone hearing my private conversations with friends. No, of course not - nor do you want to hear me - so why force me to talk. Besides since when is CoD a "team game" it's pretty much one of the only games in which a single player can win a match for a team - at least in public lobbies on which this ridiculous move takes place. Furthur more it's kinda ironic that you tell people to mute yet claim they should play as a team - why should I "play as a team" on team deathmatch? What team-work could possibly be involved. The only people who actually support this move seem t be morons who believe that people in party chat are "cheating" them or people who don't use party chat and therefore do not understand the situation. Even if that was true (and lets face it, it's not) it's a public match - why do you care about the result so very badly? ...and what about those not playing CoD? Why should I be forced to play in silence, because that's what the majority will do - I for one will just mute everyone in a lobby instantly. People who use game chat on XBL are 90% of the time trash-talkers or MLG wanna-b's. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 930 Joined: 25 Apr 2008 | Damn, gaming culture makes me sad sometimes. Sure, I can see why this would be an undesirable feature, but the utter gravity of the situation seems to be lost on me. So you can only talk to your friends if they're playing with you. Sure, if it bothers you that much, make a petition and see what happens. But is it really worth any more than that? Is it worth the massive paragraphs and lengthy debates over internet forums? I don't think so. |

I dont know whether or not you are getting the game, but would you not also be more than a little pissed if a company took away a feature you pay a different comapany for? |

you are one of the reasons I like party chat. |

Egg-fucking-zactly. I pay ~£30 a year to talk to my friends. I like this feature. I also pay to play online. I like this feature. I then pay another £45 for MW2, so that I can enjoy that feature of the 360 too. "NO WAIT!" Scream IW, "WE LURVE CHANGE SO MUCH, WE'RE GOING TO FUCK UP A PERFECTLY GOOD SYSTEM!". I pay one company to make games and I pay another company to let me play them. Why the fuck should both companies get together and think of a way to piss me off, the paying customer? |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 968 Joined: 19 Mar 2009 | I've said this about the last petition, and I'll say it again. Your petition will do nothing except have some names and demands on a thread. Infinity Ward made their decision, and too few people will care enough to change their mind. Even if they were convinced, it's too late in the game to change anything. The game comes out in what, two weeks? They'll be too busy fixing bugs to put in party chat. People have to learn internet petitions do nothing. Nothing. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1088 Joined: 20 Jan 2009 | are you fucking serious? i mean really this is a serious thread and not a joke? what the fuck do you think game chat is? a bleak an meaningless void where chat is banned? the ONLY thing that party chat does is allow you to cheat ONLY ONLY ONLY in gears of war this is a very strong when its 1on1 or even when 1 person on a team is dead that person(s) tells information to the rest like if someone is sneaking up behind them stop bitching this is something that should be done for all games |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3375 Joined: 11 Mar 2009 | Man, gamers are a bunch of self righteous whiners lately. "I don't agree with something, petition! Boycott! ZOMG!" Christ, if we're not bitching about one thing we're bitching about something else. Forget all the changes for the better the game has made, damn it they took something we're paying for so we deserve it! Is it ironic that I'd rather use general chat to play with people who don't give a shit? Party chats these days seem to be nothing but a means for elitists to bitch about what they don't like. |

1: Thats dishonest. If we don't agree, we're not going to support you. 2: Its a lot more common than you think, and it basically amounted to cheating in the HC modes. 3: If you don't want to hear people, go to your Settings and turn voice comms off while playing. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3360 Joined: 9 Sep 2008 | But..Party chat is awesome. Ahh, well I'm not getting MW2 anyways, so what's it matter? |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 779 Joined: 9 Sep 2008 |
Your right! When I talk to my friends who are playing different games I am cheating! As you said, it's only for cheating! |

I agree with your OP and I agree with this post. I live in Ireland. Me and my buddies have to switch lobbies often when the host gets switched to someone in the US, as playing COD with almost a whole second of host advantage is one of the most frustrating things you can do as a gamer. I really don't want to have to go and hit mute on every player at the start of every game. Nor do I want random idiotic fuckwits making lewd comments when we are caually chatting over live and mention our mothers, girlfriends or sisters. This step is going to make MW2 a much less fun game to play for me and my friends. |

What? You post that and then ask me if I'm joking? Seriously? I'm not going to bother to answer. How is it a "problem" that I want to talk to my friends? And you label yourself as being... well, I won't be rude, but you say that party chat is just for cheaters? I started playing The Ballad Of Gay Tony today, and laughed at a joke in it amongst my friends. Then I played some WaW multiplayer and I continued my conversation with them. I was soooo cheating by doing that. I was cheating by talking with my friends, all playing a different game? And when I'm playing Single Player in party chat, am I cheating the NPCs in some way? Or what about Co-Op. I want to play Saints Row 2 Co-Op with a friend in a party of four. Why should I leave the party to talk to the guy, when I can talk to him and my other friends in the party? The same applies to MP, only this time, it's being enforced by people with the power to do something other than make rash generalizations and poorly constructed arguments.
It is rather self-righteous, and actually a bit bitchy, but for a reason this time. I'm not complaining about something petty, or even something in the game at all. I'm complaining because the game makers are literally forcing me to abandon my friendly chats with my friends, for the purpose of stopping a minority of people. we've got something to complain about. |

how my god how i pity you you will only be able to talk to ONLINE FRIENDS in the same game WAIT A SECOND there is that thing called PRIVATE CHAT |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 547 Joined: 16 Nov 2008 | Awwww are the console gamers angry now that they have to relinquish something that has been the norm for a loooong time? Ordinarily I am much more professional than this, but suck it all you assholes who kept ranting on about PC gamers crying. I sympathize with those who have supported the PC cause, but to those who told us to stop crying... karma is a bitch ain't it? Doesn't feel too good now, does it. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3607 Joined: 8 Dec 2007 | Have IW stated they're making an in-game party system which features so that only living team mates can hear each other? If they have, then it's no big. |

Private chat is 1 on 1. I'm sure glad you know what your talking about or this could have been awkward! |

If it's any defence, I never did. I'm no PC Gamer, but I agreed with you guys. These situations are different however. Perhaps just as bad, but different. They're from the same company though, let's gang up on 'em!
Private Chat only supports a few friends, and is harder to get to than the party screen. Plus, that might be banned as well. Nobody's confirmed that it hasn't. |
Beat Writer Posts: 133 Joined: 19 Aug 2009 | All of you who are saying 'cry some more' etc are the real idiots not the OP. You are defending a huge corporation for essentailly shitting on the little guy. OP wants to chat to his mates not in COD6 well he should be able to. It is not IWs place to restrict non-game specific content it is not there xboxes. |

I agree with this guy. I don't fully believe it myself yet, but if it is true, it is a kick in the teeth for the people who like talking to friends in game. MS is also partly to blame as they gave IW the option to do this. |

Xbox live is a great service?... If you think so I guess I'll leave it alone :S Yes it was kind of nice being able to chat with friends back in the day when my xbox 360 was hooked up to the ol' xbox live, but is it really a dealbreaker? I agree that it's stupid, but why can't you play without speaking to your friends? Have you always needed idle chatter while gaming? Ultimately I'm sure you'll get over it. Trying to make it competetive on the console market while desecrating competitive played on the PC by way of removing dedicated servers is beyond odd, but hey, they don't tell me how to do my job soo, whatever? |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 908 Joined: 28 May 2009 | Very true. When IW appears at my front door, bungs me £200 for my Xbox and XBL Gold account, and I sell it for some reason, then they can do what they want. But until then I pay to talk to my friends, and I pay to play they're game, and no jumped up little gnome at IW is going to stop me from getting a service that I pay for based on their own whims. EDIT : I live in the middle of nowhere and only a few of my friends are gamers. I know no other gamers near me, I speak to nobody while I play, in a filthy, stuffy, dark little room that I am forced to play in, and being able to speak to my friends on XBL is one of the greatest pleasures I have on the 360. I might as well get over losing the television if that's your stance on it. Or just get over buying a game that limits my gaming experience so much, for no visible reason. |

you can only talk to one person at a time then? poor you |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 958 Joined: 25 Jul 2008 | This is why EVERYONE should buy the PC version as not only will it have better controls while selling at a lower price... but I know this game will be cracked wide open so fast it won't even be funny. And screw Activision if they have a problem with it being cracked, they have our money, cracks would only be to solve the bullshit THEY caused! I wonder how long it will take to fix the lack of dedicated server support? |

Wait, it's considered bad to tell team mates where the guy who killed you went? Ops...
OT: What's wrong with IW? Are they testing us to see if we would still buy the game no matter how much they irritate us? Well, I'm choosing L4D2 over MW2, so mission accomplished...
