Sometimes I long to live in a world with no shades of grey. It seems so much simpler. |
Muckraker Posts: 246 Joined: 25 May 2009 | felt like a huge update from the first one, but I didn't feel the first one held up for very long, so l4d2 is either just gonna be a rental or game i get at budget price |
Muckraker Posts: 260 Joined: 10 Jun 2009 | I was impressed at first primarily coz i thought valve had fixed a fault in the game code that gave certain people a sound looping BSOD until tonight when i ran into the same god damn error message. its only ever happened to me in l4d 1 and now l4d 2 none of my other pcs have this problem :( |

The original demo for L4D also lacked the ability to see your legs. It was later added into the official game with a patch. |

Oh. I didn't know that. That's good to know. Thanks! |
Paperboy Posts: 16 Joined: 17 Apr 2009 | I was disappointed with how unbalanced melee weapons were. Some were very good, but the frying pan is too slow and when I try swinging a police baton, the zombies just sidestep me and hit me from the side. Also new infected bosses seem to be alternative versions of the old ones. Also does anyone else notice the increase in friendly fire? But hey this is just a demo. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 116 Joined: 5 Apr 2009 | I loved it. The graphics actually had an improvement, even though it had the same engine. Well, it seemed a lot better, anyway. Weapons, terrain, zombies.. They all looked more... Real? I espescially loved when I shot one of the infected in the groin area with my Magnum. The area blew off, spurted blood, and he pelvic thrusted to death. It was fantastic. Needless to say I LOVED the demo, and can't wait to throw my money at Valve for this beauty. |

Really? I couldn't tell, all the characters and special infected were invisible for whatever reason. I would get punched across the map by an invisible Tank, pummeled by an invisible charger, or walk blindly around a corner to fight an invisible Hunter hiding in some super-obscure place I would never think of looking. As far as I can tell, I'm the only person with this glitch, so.... |

Interesting. Another thing that got a little annoying was this: 'Reloading! Reloading here! Reloading! Reloading!' |

I used the machete more than the guns! So satisfying to slice through a horde of zombies. I've never played the first game, but the demo was fun. I only played it on the single player (I didn't want to feel like a complete noob in MP) and I found the graphics to be very nice. I only have an 8500GT OC and I was able to turn of the graphics. There was so much gore, and I don't think I've ever had so much fun with a shotgun. Assplody zombies! |

I know i'll probably get a response of the 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' variety, but really valve has basically made Left 4 Dead 1.5. It could just a well be an expansion pack. The changes to gameplay are very minor, which makes the price tag start to look even more unreasonable. And as i said earlier i tend to put much value to graphics, but when it comes down to it they are quite sub-par. The new characters i don't find particularly interesting, and the new infected barely bring anything new to the table. I suppose if you don't mind paying $50 for a Left 4 Dead 1.5, then you'll be pleased. If you were however expecting an actual sequel for your well earned money you may be dissapointed. However, i should give compliments where they're due, so; the reloading animation are still good (though the actual shooting ones could be better), the varied models for the infected is an improvement, the guns are pretty good though i would've liked even more and the melee weapons is a nice addition (even though chopping some of the weapon's have ridiculous results, such as cutting a zombie in half with a frying pan) |

This. I loved it. Sure, it felt kind of like the original, but it's a sequel, what the hell do you expect? The new stuff added a lot, I thought. We'll have to wait till the actual game comes out, but I thought it was great. |

Beat Writer Posts: 141 Joined: 21 Aug 2009 | Honestly, with all of the hype and coverage I lost interest in L4D2, but I got the demo and played it, and I love it. I thought that all of the new infected types would over-complicate the game and make it feel busy, but I think they fit in just fine. And I like all of the new weapons, but I don't know what the difference is between the SPAS-12 and the M1014. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 71 Joined: 28 Oct 2009 | Seemed like the original L4D. Some cool battle scenes, I dunno if I'd get it though. The graphics aren't the best, but you have to comprise the numbers of zombies to improve graphics. |

Now that I've unlocked the decent version of the game, it's awesome. You can either choose secondary weapons, or melee weapons (i always go melee). The AI Director's smarter, and it's alot harder. The weapons feel like they pack the right amount of weight, when you're decapitating a head or dismembering them. The new theme I really like. I like how you can't all have the same weapon to start off with. The armoured "SWAT" zombies are pretty awesome too. I think that L4D2 all in all does enough things differently in order to separate it from one, but you're entitled to your opinion. P.S Mike Patton does rock. Faith no More sideshow FTW! |
Muckraker Posts: 246 Joined: 13 Oct 2008 | I dont think the new characters have enough personality. Give me some ACCENTS or something. The white suit isn't nearly as much of an asshole as he needs to be, the hic kid isn't nearly gungho enough, coach doesn't sound much at all like any coach I grew up with, and who the heck is the girl? A news reporter right? She should have the most accentless voice on the planet. The original four were smarmy and stereotypically unique with VERY distinct voices. These new four, I cant tell the difference between Nick, Coach and Ellis through the pace this game is at. It's gotta be distinct. They aren't. I'm not saying go over the top, but you CAN do southerner voices and make them charming. Or in the case of Nick, at least intrigueing. They're dull as shit. Cutting up zombies with a machette though is BEYOND fun. The gameplay is better on the xbox but cutting into zombies is more satisfying on my PC for some reason... |
Muckraker Posts: 243 Joined: 19 Mar 2009 | there were some problems with people graphics not showing up right. when I started it up it looked like a game from 1998 |
Copy Clerk Posts: 110 Joined: 12 Nov 2008 | looked very promiseing to me. It will be huge on line, and I will enjoy every moment as the new undead. Anybody who complains about the graphics or the shadows does not understand the point of the game at all. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 394 Joined: 20 May 2009 | I really liked the demo, I'll with hold judgement and give it space and tell myself that it is just a demo. Looked fine on the 360, noticeable difference from the first one, uh liked the new weapons as well as characters. And anyone who tells you the intro isn't badass is crazy... or just has a different opinion then you. For a gamer who likes to jump into versus mode with three friends all the time I'm so excited for the next installment although the controversy and stuff is wearing thin. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2763 Joined: 15 Jan 2009 | It was fun. I don't know where the "Bad Graphics" is coming from, because for the Xbox, they are great. Gameplay is pretty normal L4D, but the special infected got new skins and new buddies so its all good. Worth a buy. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 79 Joined: 25 Feb 2008 | I thought it was a blast. The new weapons like the SCAR and the Kalashnikov are really fun. And the GFX seemed fine to me. |
Beat Writer Posts: 132 Joined: 4 Nov 2009 | the graphics are kinda bad, but they still have a week to polish little things( like the buildings looking like doll houses, which they do in the french district of New Orleans) and I think, like batman Arkham asylum with the PS3, valve is leaning towards the Xbox 360 version of this game, which looks better. We also have to remember that THIS IS A DEMO, some things will be better and we need to remember as well that this a sequel and it is going to be a lot like the first game in most ways. On the other hand, a lot of this seems like it could have been patched in or done using DLC, and anyone else wont to be able to play as Zoey, Bill, Francis, and Luis. the plain from dead air could have gone there thinking that it was not over run but still had a large military presence, like at the alarm place. So it has flaws, but hay, so do half life and Physiconauts. |
Muckraker Posts: 311 Joined: 4 Jul 2008 | My initial reactions were. Why is my science partner playing L4D 2 demo...why does he have 3 hours loged to it? Why isn't he responding to my "How far are you?".....dam science partners. Sorry for kinda ruining the topic but I'll have to get back to game play when I'm done doing the whole science project. |

either you havn't played either or your just fucking retarded. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 699 Joined: 13 Jul 2009 | I have something to admit. I AM A VALVE FAN BOY. that said I HATE L4D 2 or atleast the demo, there is very little new stuff and what is new is not worthy of a new game buy itself. |
Muckraker Posts: 254 Joined: 25 May 2009 | very short but fun. Plus they gave us almost nothing to play with |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1756 Joined: 27 Dec 2008 | First off maybe you should push the slider bars to the right. Look, the graphics are great, the gameplay is more challenging, regular zombies are harder to kill, the spitter and the charger make camping MUCH more difficult so you don't end up clearing areas with your pistols *AS MUCH* as you were able to in the first game. The new character models and sounds are bone chilling and the soundtrack kicks ass (especially with interactive environments like the jukebox for example) The melee weapons are pretty neat with the guitar being my favorite because every time you hit a zombie you play a different note, you can pretty much play "Mary had a little lamb" on the skulls of the horde. The new throwable item "Boomer Bile" is also pretty cool because you can coat a boomer in boomer bile and other zombies will attack and kill it and cover the area IN MORE BILE. I cant wait for the baseball bat and the ax when the zombies explode the body parts down to the spine and skulls and ribcage and legs and arms and get spattered across the area. I REALLY like this game and it feels similar but it is most defenatly more enjoyable than the first. |
