Has there been a jrpg in the last 9 years that was not completely annoying?

Oh, whenever anyone mentions the name Kratos I don't think of God of War at all thanks to this game.

Haha! Same here, man.

I'd also like to note that Tales of Symphonia has excellent music.

Lost Odyssey is the main one. Final Fantasy X and XII weren't too bad, although X had the god awful laughing scene, and XII had... Vaan. Kingdom Hearts I and II were great, although on the easy side.

You have to know what to avoid, but JRPGs can be pretty fun.

don't buy into the stupid stereotype just because that's what cool right now. it's older than 9 years, but my favorite jrpg is skies of arcadia legends for the gamecube and the dreamcast. and what about the world ends with you?

Why the hell are people so damn easily annoyed? I'd hate to associate with you in real life if you got pissed of at EVERYTHING.

Any and all of the Mario RPGs.

EDIT: Oh! And Pokemon!

I'm just asking because when I was a kid the only rpgs out their were from japan, but it just seems that lately they have been getting lamer and more annoying. I'm not trying to start a fight just give me an example of a newer on that is fun and has a good story.

Played 358/2 on DS yet? I'm unable to fault it yet, and I quite like the mission layout as opposed to the free roaming world idea of the first two.

Have you tried the Kingdom Hearts games or the Paper Mario games?

The Disgaea series has been very enjoyable to me. As far as proper jRPG, I'd say ...hmm Crimson Gem Saga for PSP, very good fun.

Golden Sun, never completed but still fresh.

Golden Sun was finished with its sequel.

...so?
[Evidently does not see what that has to do with anything]

I think he thought you meant golden sun as a series was never completed.

It isn't. Last I checked, they're making GS 3 for the DS.

That's almost incentive enough for me to buy one.

scarab7:
Golden Sun, didn't that come out within the last nine years? I liked that JRPG and it was for the GBA.

+3 Pwnage points for GS. Great game, one of my favorites.

JRPGs have a set formula like WRPGs have a set formula. If you don't like it, just avoid it.

And there have been plenty of JRPGs out in the last 9 years that aren't annoying. The last two Persona Titles, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, The World Ends With You, and I could go on but I don't want to.

Also going to recommend the Kingdom Hearts series. 2 is a little on the easy side. But easily fixed if you don't mine ordering Final Mix+ online and getting a Swap Magic so you can play it. Oh and having a translation guide out would help too for the new scenes that are not in english.

Of course there has. I'm just under no illusion that you give a damn.

If you did, I'd bring up Tales of Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia, ToS: Dawn of the New World, Baten Kaitos and Origins, a few Final Fantasy titles, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts, and some of the Persona series.

Final Fantasy XII, the remake of Final Fantasy Tactics was purely amazing, the Kingdom Hearts series was also good, Disgaea is a great series, the tales of games are simply amazing, pokemon is still pretty good... there is a lot you just seem to be a JRPG hater...

*Hands you a cookie* You get much respect for mention Crimson Gem Saga, a nice buried treasure of a great throwback title.

The Disgaea, Persona, and Tales of games are all great choices. There have been plenty of great JRPG's in the past 10 years, it really just depends on what you actually find annoying.

Crimson Gem Saga is great, and almost no one knows about it. I got a recommendation from a youtube show called "Classic Game Room HD" they covered it in a review and I had had to have it.

I've been open to Final Fantasy alternatives for a long time, I haven't liked many of the series and I'm not about to go testing more FFs since I've disliked more than I liked.

I'm pretty sure this should have ended with "annoyance is subjective" on the first page.

I actually did a review on CGS way back shortly after it came out in the reviews section. Great story and lovely artwork, I really hope for a CGS2 seeing as the ending left it open for a sequel.

The PS2 era was easily my favorite for JRPGs, this one has been poor, but tons of classics form the last generation.

If you don't like a genre, that's fine, I don't care for FPS, but don't deny that for people that do there have been some quality ones in last 9 years.
