REX just looks cooler. All angly and shit.
I always found REX to be the more appealing Metal Gear. I guess I have something against streamlining.
RAXA IS THE BEST ONE. Even as a prototype its freakin' cool. Why have a robot that launches nukes when you can launch a robot into an area then get that robot to fire nukes.
Rex seems better because the design is more believable. I can't say much else, as I haven't actually played the games.
RAY. Made to hunt, and also nice and organic.
Looking at the MGS4 pics, REX hands down. Something just says 'Awesome' and RAY just seems bland.
Well, I got to drive REX, so I prefer it to RAY.
REX is just generally more threataning. plus it's doesn't resemble a fight from transformers 2, like RAY does( to me, of course).
*shrugs* I like Ray. Its sleek look is what gets my vote. The flipper things on the side, I admit, could have been better designed when it comes to its laser, but I can forgive that.
I find REX waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more badass.
Well, REX mostly resembles ED-209. And ED-209 kicks ever living ass.
Rex if it can take out Grey Fox its gotta be DAMN hardcore
Fuck them both, Arsenal Gear gets my vote. Of the two, however, I prefer Ray, probably because MGS2 was my first (and only) MGS game, apart from a bit of time with my friend's MGS4 (I'm a 360 gamer, and 2 was the only of those game released for the Xbox to my knowledge).
I was going to put Arsenal on the poll but then I thought I'd be opening myself up to a bunch of other things which I'd have to name - like the RAXA mentioned above, or perhaps the Gekkos from MGS4. Feel free to click other though, since you did think to specify. And you are correct, MGS2 was the only Xbox-released Metal Gear Solid game. MGS1 had a PC release and MGS: Twin Snakes (an MGS1 remake) was Gamecube exclusive. Which I think are the only three console (not handhelds) MGS titles exclusively on a Sony machine.
Ray gets my vote because I think it looks more sleek and it's nice looking. Also, it's built to be used underwater which I would prefer.
Ray was a failure even though it was meant to kill most Metal Gears (Like REX) it still got its ass kicked by Metal Gear Rex...
I like ray more. You can't forget that Ray has the ability to fire water with such pressure that it can cut through metal. It's like a laser, but better, 70% of earth's surface is ammo. Does REX even use his rail gun? I never played MGS4 but ive never seen REX use it in any other games.
No, unfortunately. It is the rail gun that gets REX my vote because rail guns tear everything up.
REX never gets to use his railgun. It's meant to be used to launch nukes and but is never actually used in combat. Mostly because if it was the player wouldn't stand a chance. At all. They'd just be dead.
I like ray more. maybe it's just I'm new to the series(I only have 3 and 2, but wont 1) and that I think the series deserves a proper burial with a flag over the coffin but I like ray. sure Rex has the hole "a god damn rail-gun" thing going on, but the design makes it impractical and slow, where ray is sleek, stylish, and affordable for the house wife of any home. sorry.
Rex, because Ray BLEEDS when you shoot it. Any mech that bleeds loses bad ass points.
Well, from what I've seen, Rex get's my vote. Looks like he can rip through armys like no tomorrow
Rex wins in style and aggression, but I cannot help but think that at the hands of a capable pilot, Ray should easily be able to outmanoeuvre and damage Rex.
| |
I always found RAY more feminine than REX. Kind of like MGS2's protagonist funnily enough.
we already saw who would win a fight.REX all the way! there were thousands of RAYs but only one REX
DON'T MAKE ME CHOOOOOOSE! I prefer MGS 2 Ray to MGS 4 Ray, the tail makes it much more convincing that it could actually stand and swim, plus it look absolutely bad ass with it swinging around. But I also love the idea of Rex standing on a mountain side firing rail gun shells at at some poor target in the distance. They're both great designs, imposing, fairly believable and well animated with lots of personality. They both come across as vicious and purposefull, which is great. Personally I would prefer to see them operate in concert, Rex is the firepower whilst Ray is the escort/interceptor. No time for Arsenal though, all that and it's just a fecking submarine. What a gip, I wanted a Transformer.
Rex hands down | |
Neon Genesis Evangelion, also called "Mindfuck". I recommend it.
REX was a sexy brick with a railgun and a face. RAY was a pansy, girl-bot with wing-things. Plus, REX is easily the more powerful of the two. Neither could beat Jehuty or Anubis though.
Rex is more of a tank while Ray is like a predator. Rex has more fire power and have more defense. Ray is more agile and goes for a quick kill. I'd would say both, but Rex can fire non-detectable nuclear missiles.
Rex, Ray doesn't show any weapons and doesn't look that intimidating.
| (Pages: 1, 2, 3) | |
Now it might just be me (I know it won't be though), but to me, Metal Gear REX has always been more impressive than RAY ever was. That's not to say RAY wasn't cool. Between the missile barrages, giant face mounted laser and jumping power, RAY was a decent piece of machinery. But it could never measure up to the sheer badassery that was REX.
Which strikes me as incredibly odd, as I've learned time and time again that humans are attracted to symmetry. Logically, therefore, RAY should be the preferred hardware as REX is horribly overbalanced - railgun on the right, smaller radar on the left. RAY was styled to be an anti-Metal Gear machine, but whenever we saw it in action it never seemed to be able to measure up to REX. The battle during MGS2 had you pitted against varying numbers of RAYs depending on your difficulty setting, but in MGS1 it was just REX. Alone.
So I ask you this, if RAY is meant to be built to kick REX's ass, if it's a symmetrical machine which everyone says I should prefer and if it's got a bunch of awesome points: Why on earth does REX seem so much more hardcore?
REX, MGS1
RAY, MGS2
REX, MGS4 (Sans Railgun, left to rust for 9 years)
RAY, MGS4
Really wish I had a better picture of the MGS1/Twin Snakes REX, but I couldn't find any good ones on short notice.
