What game did you never finish?

Remember those days before the internet? Before the omnipresence of walkthroughs? Back then, if you got stuck in a game, your only option was to ask your friends if anyone knew the solution or shell out your meager allowance to go out and buy an expensive walkthrough book.

Games I never finished because I really didn't see the next step:
- Zeliard (it must have been the very last level, but I really did not find the exit)
- Alone in the dark (I got to the big tree at the end, but didn't figure out I had to burn it)
- Willy Beamish (the color code in the factory - the hint was on a blueprint you had, but as a young kid the words umber and sienna didn't mean much to me)

Frustrating times!

"Paganitzu". Never managed to figure out one of the levels, (I assumed it to be the last one.) One day I'll finish it though. One day.

Call Of Ctulthu. I kept spazzing out all the time.

Heart of Darkness. Fuck.

I never beat the final boss in the original Banjo-Kazooie. It haunts me to do this day.

Wind Waker.

When they told me I had to sail around and find 8 pieces of Triforce I said 'fuck you, game', and abandoned it.

i didnt beat Tomb Raider Anniversary because it was so god damm tedious, plus the platforming was kinda fucked on the PC.

i didnt beat Dawn of War 2 because it was the worst game ever.

i didnt beat Heroes of Might and Magic 5 because there was a mission in the second campaign that was impossible on Easy.

i didnt beat HOMM5: Tribes of The East because the 3rd-to last mission was hard as all hell.

I never finished Halo Wars...played a few missions, gave up on it.

...amazing game..i finally found it again ((and its the copy i got rid of so long ago..so in a way..it's my first copy, second possession of it))

anyways back OT..Lost Odyssey, because my brother started playing from my account, then my hard drive got formatted, and i figured "hell, he already got all the damn achievements for me..why the fuck should i bother anymore?" i said that because he was on disc 3 or 4...if 3 he was almost to 4.

i like achievements.....and getting them on my own dammit..

also Enchanted Arms ((i find it fun)) and plan on re-buying it to finish it once and for all..i still have my save file too, cuz i've always wanted to finish it and kill the big blue bitch aka the Queen of Ice..at least i hope i get to kill her...damn secret achievements >.<

I had the same issues with these games.

I also never finished Wind Waker, I honestly got myself glitched into a wall and couldn't move. Never touched it since.

And never finished FFXII, something about it made me not want to play.

Too many games...

Bioshock - Got to the part where your in the little sister sanctuary after 'the revelation' and never bothered to go kill the bugger

Halo Wars - I too played one mission and decided taking sandpaper to my genitals would be more enjoyable

Wet - Got really far in but the game became boring so sold that on Ebay for a tasty profit

Probably because of Link's massive head.

Final Fantasy Nine. I borrowed it from a friend because I couldn't find it anywhere. Giant scratch on the second disc. Error message fifteen minutes in. Annoyed beyond reason.

Heroes of might and magic - got bored
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic - worst game ever

dead rising. I just couldn't get into a game where you had to go through zombies to a bathroom to make a piss gamesave (and I am not kidding)

Final Fantasy VIII. Just got bored listening to whiny bastards. I can usually slog through a JRPG, especially a Final Fantasy. So this was unusual.

Thief II. One of my favourite series, just never finished the game for some reason.

FFIX it got stuck at one of those forced party selection screens on disc2 (wouldn't allow me to exit :()

XIII - The submarine mission was so damn tedious. Why can't we just kill everyone?

I still have yet to finish Morrowind! :O Just terrible luck. Restarted two or three times. Plus Vista killed two of my save games. Oh, and I lost it once more when I came back to good old reliable XP. Lol, hopefully I will finally finish it next time I bother to start a game...

Legend of Zelda(COLON!) Ocarina of Time
Fable II

I got bored with both of them really quickly. I guess something about mideval fantasy worlds just doesn't work with me...

Possibly gonna get flamed but
Half Life 2, i just got boooooooored

Never finished it either. I got so far once that I only needed the two last items before the final boss. But that is like ten hours of gameplay right there.
And to think I have like... 300+ hours of gameplay from that game. Without even beating the final boss. Heck, without even seeing him. I really should beat it eventually...

lol. Yeah, that game I lost in the great operating switch, I had done pretty much everything except killed the guy. Problem with RPGs is that you don't really care about the story. I was much more interested in stealing, and becoming the head of every guild. And slaughtering everyone not integral to the plot lol.

I've never finished Super Mario RPG, even though I've finished all the other Mario RPG's (except Bowser's Inside Story, getting it soon :D). I don't know if it's because I usually play it when I've played the other Mario RPG's aswell, but I think it's because I got a new game halfway through both times I tried playing through. Still, it's a pretty good game!

never finished dead rising
I'm the kind of guy that tries to save everyone, I kept dying or got captured by the cult

Yeah. I also added a new mod like every week. So I think what I did in the end was leveling up my fishing skills on my kick-ass pirate ship. I believe I was also making furniture for my cabin... My problem with that game is that it's so damn big. If I am to try and beat the game now, I will play for several hundred hours again, because there is so much to do. And I will install mods, even though I know I shouldn't.
I might have managed to beat the game on that save as well, if it wasn't for the total system failure I got. Formating your harddrive with 300+ hours worth of Morrowind gameplay... not fun.

Bioshock.
I love that game, but I keep buying new games and I lose the progress of the story.

Final Fantasy 9, 10, and 12. Each game I tried my best to enjoy, generally played through til it was almost over, and then -BAM- one more line of bad dialogue or some completely ridiculous plot point would hit me in the face like a brick and be the straw that broke the camel's back (the camel's back representing my will to continue playing).

I never got to the end of Baldurs gate 1. I had thought for a long long time that I didn't finish BGII either, because I couldn't remember the ending, but when I went to replay it and got to the bit where I thought I had stopped playing, I actually recognised the scenes afterward.

for those who've played it, I always thought I hadn't gotten past the Underdark- but actually I had...

...and now although I'm sure I MUST have finished it (I still cant remember the ending, because that game has so many false-bloody starts)...

So I remember the Pirate Island, the Asylum, killing the vampire girl Bodie, (at least I remember storming her place with the thieves...) - or did I kill her in the maze under the Asylum...

Oh now I remember, the elves... yeh something about coming out of the underdark with all the elves around me... and then we did somehting to Icarus... and something...

I must have finished it, because I also have the throne of Baal...

I must have...

Psychonauts. No real reason I didn't finish it to be honest. Maybe Ill go and play it now.

The Last Remnant - I just really really didn't like it, gave up near the start

Infinite Undiscovery - Enjoyed it, but took a very long break, and had no idea what to do when I came back, as there's no journal, or anyone to talk to.

Star Ocean TLH - I just find it too hard. Yeah, I suck at it.

Quite a few others, but those are the most recent

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I had access to Okami at the same time!

What would have you done?

KOTOR 2. Game breaking glitch about forty-plus hours into the game. Had found all the Jedi masters, but the game crashed if I tried to exit the ship on. Dantooine. I started a new game and my patience ran out before I finished it.

The Second Zelda game for the NES. YOu use half your magic to even be able to hurt the BBG and then he just fucks you in the ass, Take the fact that you don't start out right there when you die, I said... fuck this game. Worst Zelda ever.

Blue Dragon - shit games should be mercifully short; NOT 3 DISKS-worth of shit so that the only way you can clear the now blocked-toilet of your pride is to break it up with a stick and a 9 hour Halo-fest.
