When you think Nintendo you think Mario. Sega you think of Sonic (and you probably cry a little inside), Capcom has Mega Man, etc.

Now Microsoft and Sony should have a mascot for their consoles, but who?

Guidelines:
-Mascot-friendly
-Pick a character that has appeared in at least 1 or more consoles games
-HAS to be a video game character.
-It can be any character/s that doesn't appear in any recent games.

Here's the challenge:
-You can't use Master Chief (XBOX 360) and Solid Snake (Playstation). (I mean c'mon so many people will choose Master Chief, but lets see some creativity for the sake of standing out please?)
-Posting Solid Snake/Master Chief means YOU CAN'T GRASP THE IDEA OF THE CHALLENGE! YOUR SUPPOSED TO THINK OF OTHER OPTIONS!

Remember:
-Be creative with your reasons.

Author's Note: This is for fun.

These are mature consoles and thus don't need proper mascots.

You think Sony you think Solid Snake, or Killzone.

Xbox, Halo and Gears of War.

Crash Bandicoot was the Playstation mascot for a while. He didn't age well.

Xbox Mascot... Red Ring?

For the MS, I guess Marcus Fenix (I think that was his name).
For PS, I say Kratos

The only mascot worth acknowledging is Tux the Linux penguin, all other mascots are superfluous.

Two retarded fanboys plotting to get the wii fanboy, then betraying eachother while the wii laughs, the goes back to cooking cause "Mama don't give no breaks to no one"

For Sony, proably Solid Snake or Kratos

For Microsoft, Definitly Master Chief or possibly Marcus Fenix.

I would've thought the 360's would have been obvious.
Master Chief.

Hmm, Playstation should have Snake from the Solid Snake games. I would say Dante as well. But the most recent DMC game was multi-platform which I assume disqualifies it.

And for the Xbox. Hmmm, I'd have to say Master Chief since even though there are plenty of better games, he is an iconic character and one that springs instantly to mind when thinking of the Xbox.

benny, the obnoxious 12 year old and his pal archie, the inflatable e-penis for the 360

ray, the blu-ray disc for the ps3

Solid Snake is a definite no go for the Playstation. MGS 2 was ported to Xbox, MGS1 was remade for Gamecube, amd Metal Gear itself started on the MSX2.

I'd say Ratchet and Clank, as it's the longest running PS exclusive series thus far (minus Gran Turismo) for Sony.

360... that's actually a tough one. Hard to count Master Chief as Halo 1 and 2 have PC ports. I'll come back to that one.

They don't have mascots. They have figures but nothing Sony and Microsoft's PS3 and Xbox360 divisions have mascots to represent their console created from the companies directly. Kinda hard to call Master Chief their mascot when Halo was created by a whole different company I.e. bungie.

Well, since the popularity of Halo put the xbox on the market, it would be idiotic to say " Not Master Chief".

EDIT: Alright, i'll answer the thread. http://www.gametab.com/images/ss/xbox/1017/box-l.jpg

Both systems are easily recognizable as thier own Mascots. PS3 is the unaproachable black monolith of intentioally hard game development. 360 is the pale sun-deprived frat boy that routinely blacks out for no apprent reason.

Xbox 360--Hulk

PS3--Batman

It actually makes alot of sense.

When I think Xbox I think red ring of death...but as far as mascots go they really only have Halo.
Sony could have Jak & Daxter honestly, but really aside from maybe Cloud, what else do they have? I guess Kratos, but he's not really mascot-friendly is he

Well, for the Xbox and the Xbox 360, you'd have to say Master Chief. Why?
Simply because he can somewhat cater to both the children, and the adults.
As a child, you see a knight in shining green armor, ready to fight the baddies.
As an adult, you simply see a man in a green shell, fighting to survive a desperate battle.

Now the Playstations... that one is tricky.
You can't have Kratos, because he scares the fuck out of kids...
And you can't have Rachet on there, simply because he doesn't really hold to the adult side of gaming (Not saying that adults don't like him, just saying that it doesn't really meet up with "grim" elements).
Snake can't really be a mascot either, mainly because he is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay on the confusing side of both of these scales (Monkeys! Dying old men! Nukes! WTF!) so...

They did have PC ports, but since most people who played those versions were probably using a Microsoft OS, we can group them together with the xboxs. Only these xboxs can go on the interwebs.

Xbox 360--Hulk

PS3--Batman

It actually makes alot of sense.

Xbox 360 -- Yoda

PS3 -- Darth Vader

Soul Caliber has put it all into perspective for me now.

If I can't pick master chief or snake kratos is the easy choice for playstation. Xbox is more difficult Id have to say ether a locust from gears (locust because marcus phenix is hardly iconic) or any other character from Microsoft's 800 pound gorilla halo. if nothing els you have to give halo credit for having relatively iconic character and art design, the warthog is just about a house hold name and youd be hard pressed to find a gamer who hasn't heard of cortana.

(commander shepherd gets an honorable mention for iconic personality mention but because of his customizable appearance it is hard for him to have one iconic image)

SkullCap:

Here's the challenge:
-Master Chief (XBOX 360) and Solid Snake (Playstation) don't count.

Well, these were my first two choices and would definitely be the mascots for their respective consoles. However, since this is all hypothetical, I guess I'll just go with who I'd most like to see. For PS3, I think Sackboy would make a good mascot (and I think they were planning on it at one time) because it's the first non-sequel game that really set the PS3 apart from the other consoles in terms of originality and style. For the 360? Hmm... it's really hard to pick anyone other than Master Chief, to be honest, since most of the others wouldn't fare so well as mascots.

Who better than Solid Snake for the PS3? After all he reflects the well-aged veteran in us all, whether we're MGS fans or not.

Rachet & Clank, Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter are hot contenders as well, after Crash Bandicoot and Spyro (who were after all unofficial mascots).

Xbox - Gears or Chief

PS3 - Killzone,Sackboy,Kratos

XBox has Master Chef or Marcus Fenix

PS3 has Kratos and Solid Snake, or even Nathan Drake

For normal purposes

Xbox 360: Master Chief
Playstaion: Kratos

Kid purposes:
Xbox 360: Viva Pinata (never played the game, do they have names?)
Playstation: Sackboy.

For the ps3, Nathan Drake, Kratos, Crash Bandicoot, and maybe someday Sackboy and Cole McGrath

As for 360, Marcus Fenix maybe... seriously what else is left? And Audi?

XBOX Red Ring Of Death
PS3 Blu Ray Man

Master Chief is obviously Xbox's Master Chief, Halo 3 is one of the largest selling games and made the original xbox what it was.

I would say Solid Snake is PS3's mascot because PS3 owners seem to like the fact that he is exclusively on PS3. It could be Drake from Uncharted, or what about Kratos?

I honestly think you took the two best mascots for the consoles and said we aren't supposed to say them. They pretty much perfectly represent the consoles. Master Chief has no character or emotion (like Microsoft in my opinion) and very popular. The Metal Gear Solid games are (again in my opinion) much more focused to a more "hardcore" fan base (like the PS3 and Sony).

Here's a challenge to make my point: Think of a Nintendo mascot that's not Mario or Link. A Sega mascot that isn't Sonic. A Capcom mascot that isn't Mega Man.

Dude, the OP explicitly said "Not Master Chief or Solid Snake."

Gee, I wonder what side of the console war you fall on?

I dunno about Xbox, but with recent events, the Playstation could probably adopt Sackboy. He's mascot-like. My design senses scream "mascot matterial." :)

Actually, I play both consoles and a pc. I'm just going off of popular opinions.

Cortana for Microsoft's Xbox. Why? Hot blue AI chick? Come on, easy. Sony? A Nazi Stormtrooper. Why? Because it's big, black (SS Uniforms were black), and imposing. Oh, and it thinks the way you look is the most important thing. Ok, now that I'm done taking potshots at Sony, how about Hamil's AA Joker? Come on, the guy is awesome!

I'd say Ratchet and Clank, as it's the longest running PS exclusive series thus far (minus Gran Turismo) for Sony.

What about Wipeout, or Ape Escape? I reckon a monkey would be a good mascot candidate. As much as I'd like that though, Ape Escape's not been popular enough to compete with God of War, LittleBigPlanet and Uncharted.

Microsoft's a bit harder, since they don't have too many long-running series still around nowadays, and I wouldn't count Gears because it's third-party. There's Halo and Banjo Kazooie, really, unless Crackdown 2 does something spectacular, or a shitload of cash is invested into turning Alan Wake into a fairly long-running series.
