To be honest I didn't really like the companions in this game. But if I must pick, it be Morrigan just because she is evil.

Zev!

For sheer dialog alone. Although some of the stuff people say to Alister if you are female and are in a relationship with him is good too.

Sten, Oghren, and Leliana I haven't had in my parties yet (first play-through was with Zev, Alister, and Wynne, my second play-through is with Morrigan, Shale, and the Dog) so I may come to like them better when I get around to using them next time.

The dog's the one I use most.

Oghren is hilarious. Shale, Morrigan and Zevran are pretty cool also.

Morrigan. She's a cynical, sarcastic bitch and I absolutely love her. Her chats with Alistair are priceless. Once I even had to pause the game, because I was nearly falling off my chair from laughter. Gaming doesn't get better.

Standard party:

Me (Arcane Warrior), Sten, Leliana, Wynn.

Occasionally switch in Zev for Leliana

Dog lacks any personality

BLASPHEMY!

Well, his entire range of responses (non-violent) are Bark, Whine, Growl and Urinate. And he's not even a particularly likeable breed (seems like a variation on a Mastiff). AND he's not that good (aside from Overpower). And finally, I'm more of a cat person... ;)

Shale! Or Alistar! Or Leliana. Or Morrigan. GAH. They're all great characters! ^^

Here is a question who do you hate before and after you beat the game and your most unused partymember? I never really hated the dog but I never used him and I also never hated shayle but for some stupid reason I could not use its(HA!) abilities.

Edit: favorite little haha.... anyone you can F^.^!!!

Shadowfaze:
Shale, i love the way he talks! reffering to me as "it".

If you play Shale's quest you get at the Anvil of the Void, you find out that Shale is actually a woman, a dwarven woman.

I like different characters for different reasons.

Overall, I'm going to have to go with Sten. Sure he's arguably a bit gimped because he can only ever get 1 specialisation, and he's not trying as hard to be funny like some of the other characters, but he's just cool, and a pretty interesting character if you're willing to try hard enough to find out.

I also like Wynne because she's the only character who's 100% friendly and pretty much never complains (at least if you're playing a good character) unlike the rest (except Barkspawn). Plus she's the best Mage companion in the game, which admittedly isn't hard when her only competition is that annoying bitch Morrigan who comes pre-loaded with what is by far the wors specialisation in the game, but does make her hands-down the best companion gameplay-wise.

And you cannot have a party with Wynne without taking Ohgren or Zevran (or both) along for the ride. In fact, I think that a party with Ohgren, Zevran, and Wynne is probably the funniest combination you can get (and a very powerful one as well).

And yet he still conveys a range of emotions and personality through those and his actions.

You and me both. If you're not a fan of his breed, there's always this mod. I'm sure without too much trouble you could mod him into any shape you wanted (having Duncan bark at you would be...interesting).

I may be slightly out of the norm when it comes to dogs, but when I was dog shopping last spring Mastiff was my second choice, after Boxer which I got.

I love a dog with a nice square jaw. My dog in DA:O is named after my real dog. Despite the gender difference...

Oghren, the way he interacted with Wynne made we LoL and shudder a wee bit.

I spent so much time tricking out Zevran's gear and spec, and I adore his accent.. and then... yeah...

Same here, named my dog after my real world one. I think it's funny because my dog and the ingame dog have completly different personalities.

Hallow'sEve:
The dog never gets mad at me, he's the easiest to get to like you, so he's my favorite : D

Leliana
-The shoe talk....she sounds so much my like my gf
and

Potato (The Dog)
-Everyone seemed to love him and he could never not love me

My 2 favorite characters are Leliana and Alistair =D

I love them all. My standard party is usually with Allistair, Morrigen, and Lilliana.

But I do enjoy what a cynical bitch Morrigan can be, she reminds me of my ex GF... sans the British accent. I also love Lianna's accent as well, it's like listening to teflon coated satin floating on a gentle breeze. Those are probably my two favorite, but they all have their charms.

Littlee300:
IS there a option to sacrifice your companions to become stronger in that game? >:D

I don't know, but if there is, don't be a dick.

Thats why you skip all chat, and don't remember name, and don't give good look to your allies so you don't get attached :P (and they could always betray you....)

Oghren! His comments are hilarious and he's a good fighter. With Morrigan and Leliana, I can RULE THE WORLD! Or make a very big mess outta anyone in my way.

Shale.

The new HK-47.

Zevran was my favourite until...

I'd say Alistair is my favourite.

Leliana. I didn't think I liked french girls, but apparently I'm willing to back up the story about 20 hours to see two girls kiss. Yes, there is obviously something wrong with me and I should be stoned at this point.

morrigan, I really love her dialogue sometimes

I don't remember that happening. Maybe he didn't like you?

Morrigan, hands-down...if only because she's invariably one of the last two standing (the other being me).

The lack of Morrigan votes leads me to believe no one's beaten the game yet.

Alistair surprisingly.

This is a tough call. Morrigan CAN have amusing character interactions but generally she's just going to be a harpy. Her utility is potentially asburdly high so long as you micromanage her - relying on tactics is an excercise in futility since she will do as much harm to the party as enemies if left to her own devices.

Wynn tends to be preachy but her advice is generally sound. She generally found her way into my parties because you desperately need someone to do the healing. Better still she generally functioned well on autopilot. Just tuck her somehwere out of the way and let her heal and deal a bit of damage with a staff.

Alistair is in the running for most amusing party member and represents the best tank option unless you roll a warrior yourself. Again, he works fairly well on autopilot which lets you wrangle Morrigan and your mages.

Leliana is one of the more annoying characters thanks to the fact that she's so sanctimonious. Her innate ability set puts her in the realm of archer and the only thing a dedicated archer is good for is mage killing. She rarely makes her way into my party unless I feel the added loot from locked chests and whatnot is really worth her presence.

Zeveran is slighly more useful from the outset than Leliana and slightly more amusing. That said, he has rarely been in my party.

Sten is a humorless killjoy filling the role of DPS and he isn't really any good at the job. He has never spent long in my party.

Ogrim is the funniest character and does amazing damage all while being able to soak it up in return.

Dog is generally the least useful character in a party. He can't absorb much damage (lack of armor) but he does provide excellent damage and crowd control. Once I have the option of leaving him behind he stays in camp.

In general, Alistair is most commonly found in my party. Since I am playing a warrior this time around, Ogrim was brought in instead and it has been an enjoyable experience.

And what is bad about killing mages? One mage can be the death knell for your party if you leave him alone. And since your worried about having to micromanage your units, you'd find her easier to assign tactics and not have to worry about her wiping your group in the process.

You need a certain amount of approval with Zev for him not to betray you. If you don't have it, I would advise against moving around in Denerim, just in case :P
