(For those of you who've had your head under a rock; Black Mesa Source is a remake of the first Half-Life)
Well, were now into the final month of 2009 and we haven't gotten solid confirmation as to if Black Mesa Source will be released this year. The site still says it's set for a 2009 release date, but with only a month left, I'm starting to doubt it.
If we don't get it this year, hopefully we'll get it early 2010.
They need to work faster dammit! I have been waiting for this for too long. I really wanna try this Half Life thing but why play the crappy old version when theres a sparkley new one coming soon. However I do remember reading on their forum I think that it was either dead or on a looooooooooooooooooooong hiatus.

I've heard some rumors that Valve may have hired the Black Mesa Source team to do remakes of all the original Half-Life games. If so, it's possible Valve has plans to sell Black Mesa Source on Steam.
It might not even come, the project hasn't had an update in a long time. (irrc)
Their Moddb page hasn't. But, their website have a new entry page and they keep releasing old bits of alpha and beta footage showing various tests on their youtube. (last video was uploaded about a week ago)

Awesome! Really hope it does get released, but I'd abandoned all hope a few months ago. I'll go check out the website see if it resparks my hype.
Seriously, just play the damned game and stop bitching about how it doesn't look "real" enough.
And I am going to stop you right there. Whiney bitch enough? What is wrong with saying that I would prefer a graphically pleasing version to one that is not soo pretty? That is the whole reason we get better PCs, newer consoles, download fan made high rez textures for games. If you do not want better graphics then piss off back to your old NES or commodore 64. Being a graphics whore is refusing to play a game at all because it is not pretty. Being smart is choosing a better version when it is available.
Oh and the full fucking line was. " I really wanna try this Half Life thing but why play the crappy old version when theres a sparkley new one coming soon." Don't reword shit to make the other person sound like the bad guy. It just makes you look like a asshole.

Ooooh now thats smart. That is one thing I did not get about Square with the Chrono remake. They could have given the makers a pittance and sold the damn thing on PSN. The work was already done for them. Valve really are smart game makers and business men.
Considering anything involving Valve, you have to estimate at least another 4+ years on top of what they're saying its going to be. So expect it in 2013.
And don't even mention L4D2. I don't know what black magic was preformed to ge that game out in a year, but we best not go messing with it. The consequences could be dire.

Black Mesa Source is a mod not an actual product being produced by Valve. So they have even less incentive to finish quickly or at all.

Thats why I said anything involving Valve, not [/i]made[/i] by Valve.
I knew it was a mod. But by involving itself with Half-Life, it picked up the terrible condition known as "Valveulus Slothulus".

Ah, my mistake then. Perfectionists by association then.
I have been hungering for this mod for a LONG time. And the fact that they haven't updated their main page is disturbing. I'd say that it is not coming out 2009, if it is coming out at all. From the looks of it it would be a dead project, but if you guys have inside info I'll take your word for it.

I doubt it. If you know Valve, there are going to be problems. Their release date will always be gaurenteed to be delayed. I'd say, at most, it will come out in 2011, if it comes out at all.
It's been a year since they've updated their site, too, and there are absolutely no news on Valve or Steam.

I wouldn't call it "Perfectionist" so much as I would call it "Inefficient".

Valve have nothing to do with the development of this. Apart from making the engine, tools and the game being remade of course.

I'm gonna stop you right about there.
Graphics whore enough?
Seriously, just play the damned game and stop bitching about how it doesn't look "real" enough.
Wait Wait...
Are you saying you're a graphics whore, if you don't want an improved version of a game?
I think you have your definitions messed up. >_>
Except that he won't play unless he has a graphically improved version, which doesn't necessarily mean an overall improved version.
I don't see how you can say "Improved" considering that because it's on the Source engine it's going to be worse, after all, the gun system is so much easier to control..
Oh, and didn't Valve already do Half-Life: Source?
People, check the oficial site and look in the right part of the screen. What do you see? Their twitter page? YES! Click and see total awsomenes unleashed on you. BTW i just played half-life 1. It was pretty awsome, cant wait for this mod!
