Welcome to the club! Refreshments are over there, and the VIP area is upstairs.

Thank you.

I'm a bit...wary of Bioshock Infinite. All the gameplay I have seen so far makes it look VERY linear, which is rather disheartening. That said, I'll still probably pick it up.

I do have some doubts about the gameplay, but if there's one thing I'm already loving it's the aesthetic design and overall look of everything.

The others, I know next to nothing about. I think Warriors Orochi is a dynasty warriors style game, and while I'm not really a fan of those, I can definitely see the appeal.

It's a Dynasty Warriors crossover, and don't worry I fully understand why some people don't enjoy those games. To me I guess they just have this certain charm that I love, being able to run around in a dress committing genocide with a feather fan while shooting lasers out of your hand...good times.

woodaba:
Ugh. Let's get out of here before I start having vietnam/Bubsy 3D flashbacks

You have those too? For me, it's Final Fantasy XIII.

Question Time! What is everybody excited for this year in terms of games? I was excited for Baldur's Gate enhanced edition, until they revealed that it was nothing more than a glorified re-release. Right now, the only things I'm genuinely hyped for are Diablo 3 and Borderlands 2.

The Witcher 2, mostly. And Borderlands 2. I'm going to preorder that almost for sure. I really liked the first game, it was actually a birthday gift to me about two years ago.

THE CORRIDORS. THEY NEVER END. NEVER STOP. MAKE THEM STOP. MAKE THEM STOP.

Those creatures in the cave are Kinrath, which I once heard described as a cross between a mantis and an owl (not from any official source, I know, but I can't remember where exactly I heard that).

I love how it has a fifth leg as a gotee...

What am I looking forward to? I'm actually in the mood to go through my backlog, which is way too big (Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, Infamous
-Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Peace Walker HD, Dark Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur, Bastion, Trenched, Okamiden). And I kind of feel like playing Secret of Monkey Island again.

New games I'm looking forward to: The Witcher 2 (new for us 360 plebs, anyway), Risen 2, Wasteland 2, Banner Saga, Double Fine Adventure. I've got Kickstarter fever.

Borderlands 2, and the Baldur's Gate 'Enhanced Edition', even if it *is* just a glorified rerelease.

I've been following BG:EE religously since its inception, and, quite frankly, I personally think that what little they're adding does not make the Enhanced Edition worth the 20 more dollars they're asking you to pay over the GOG version. But, thats just my stance on it. I've already bought the games three times, so I may have a biased view of the situation.

Actually, I've been trying out PC gaming a bit. Hasn't been working so well, though.

Caesar III, for example. I like the game, but everything burns down. EVERYTHING

CM156:

PC Gaming is great when it works. Expensive, but good. When it doesn't, it's misery itself.

I remember playing a Caesar game, once. Caesar decapiatated me. And I thought I was doing so well!

Well, my computer has a pretty crummy video card. Everything else is fine, but for video games, I have to go way back in time.

Hell, even Deus Ex doesn't run on the best graphics setting (Not that I care about graphics much, mind you)

Personally, I'm disappointed they didn't inlcude the kinrath ass-juice bypass that Obsidian included for the same cave in KOTOR2 - though it's more in Varen's character to just kill them all anyway ;)

As for releases for the rest of the year, I hate to say it but ME3 DLC is the most pressing one. I'm also interested to see how Assassin's Creed 3 turns out, which means I should probably try to pick up Revelations somewhere on the cheap in the meantime.

BONUS UPDATE: THE ORIGINAL ENDING!

Today, on this hallowed day of April 1st, I have a special update to share with you all. My spies have recently dug up a secret script, deep from the bowels of Bioware HQ, a script that reveals that before the game was released, Knights of the Old Republic actually had an alternate ending! Yes, that's right. The following post contains spoilers for KOTOR, but if you can stomach such things...

If I may hint, people who have not yet played Mass Effect 3 to completion may not want to read this just yet. Just sayin.

I salute you sir.

I laughed at a lot of that, especially "REVAN: What happened to Malak anyway? He was set up the whole game to be this awesome villain then you come along and..." I literally snorted.

I've just realised though, if you had Kreia there instead of DUMB KID the endings might make a little sense, considering her plans and all. But yeah good job.

Canderous and Carth should have held hands and embraced on the synthesis ending. Or HK and Carth, or something.

I haven't played Mass Effect 3 (though I know how it ends) but I still found that pretty funny.

That was my original plan, but considering that her ultimate goal (depending on how you interpret the character) is

I'm just laughing thinking of this ending at the end of KOTOR2 and with Kreia it would make some sense on Malachor V or something.

But yeah how it is, Kreia turning up on the Star Forge at the time of KoTOR1 would be so funny because everyone would be like WHO IS THIS OLD BINT WHAT IS SHE DOING?

I still don't actually understand why Bioware did the ME3 ending that they did, they must have been smoking something crazy in the office that day.

Apparently, (dunno if this is true or not) Casey Hudson and Mark Walters wrote the ending all by themselves, without any input from the rest of the writing team, and didn't let anyone else see it until it was too late to change it. As someone who's done quite a bit of writing myself, that is a death sentence.

Needs fourth ending where Hero decapitates Dumb Kid with a lightsaber then rides the Star Forge to the nearest bar and shouts the whole galaxy IMO :P

What a great april fools joke. I salute you, my good friend.

I'm glad they didn't put in this ending, though. They'd have to patch it or add DLC

Hilarious, though I'm still a firm believer that it's EA's fault for the shit endings, seriously. They set it all up to make Bioware create followup DLC so people would have to pay more for the real ending.

Captcha: Men in suits. How apt.

Update 18: The Adventure Begins

Question Time! This doesn't really have much relevance to the update, but with the Kickstarter craze going around, what would be your dream Kickstarter project? Personally, I would like to see a KoTOR II Complete Edition. I would gladly give a lot of money in order to play that game the way it was originally intended. Don't change the graphics, no need to add anything "new" per se, I just want to play the game Obsidian wanted to create.

Hmm I vote Tatooine, cause it has our most awesome squad mate there. Also on the topic of Varren, I, personally would like to see her take a lesson from.......I don't know a smarter villain, the typical Chaotic Evil just seems off for some reason.

The problem is that, unlike KoTOR II and Planescape:Torment, KoTOR doesn't really give you the oppurtunity to be smart evil guy. I think I mentioned earlier on that the vast majority of options in the game are Stupid Evil, and therefore, I tailored Varen, as a complete psychopath and panto villain, to fit those options. However, rest assured, that when I get the oppurtunity to be a real manipulative bastard, I will take it ;)

I vote we go in the order of what is set in canon

I'd love to see a Neverwinter Nights 3, personally.

Tatooine to Kashyyk to Korriban to Manaan I say!!

Why? Because

I would like a kickstarter of Star Wars Battlefront 3, or a KoTOR3 (true KoTOR3, none of this TOR shit, I NEED to find out what happens to Revan and the Jedi Exile properly).

CM156:

I feel like I should know this, but what's the canon order again?

Anywho, I vote Tatooine because:

I think the Canon order is Tatooine, Kashyyk, Manaan, Korriban.

I vote for Tatooine first, for the same reason as AD-Stu.

As for Kickstarter projects. What I really want, though I think it's highly unlikely, is one of the first RPG series I ever played to come back: Shadowrun. I know it's mostly forgotten about, only having a bastardized abomination borne from the bowels of blighted hell itself multiplayer FPS game in it being released lately (lately being 2007). But still...a man can dre - OH, OH MY GOD!!!

I think you went through literally the same thought process as me. Its good to see Shadowrun come back, and I love that they even acknowledge that 2007...thing...on their kickstarter page.

I'm loving all these Shadowrun fans who are coming out of the woodworks. Everyone was lulled into believing a new (true) game in the series would never come. Now we could start a convention.

So is it something worth funding, in your opinion?

Because I'm tempted to help fund it two. I have no idea about the series, though

It certainly is for me. But you might want to watch an LP, read a wiki, or maybe even play some of the older games yourself (via an emulator...which is a legal grey area, admittedly. But there aren't many other ways to play them today). There was a good game on each the Genesis and SNES.

Ok.

Well, I looked at the kickstarter page. Saw the video. I really found it funny. So I backed the project.

I hope it turns out well

UPDATE 19: IT'S LIKE THE NORMANDY, ONLY SHIT.

Sorry for the delay, Escapists. I was on a holiday, and did a considerable amount of writing. But, I'm back now, and working hard for you guys :D

Question Time! What is your favorite spaceship? For me, it's a close run between Apollo 11 and the Battlestar Galactica. Apollo 11 because, it's, well, Apollo 11, and the Galactica, because it straddles the line between seeming powerful, and vulnerable at the same time.

Sorry for the accidental bump, no idea what happened, but its alright now. :(
