I would warn people that there are serious spoilers in that link, however.

Yeah changed my post to reflect that properly. Just wanted to point this mod out to you, considering I've heard nothing but good things about this.

MINI-UPDATE: CAT-GIRL BLUES

Ok, so here's a little Mini-Update, primarily to cover for my own incompetence. I know most of you Americans are playing Mass Effect 3 by now, so this update will probably fall on deaf ears. Regardless, on with the show, such as it is.

Well, I already had the ending spoiled for me. So I won't say anything else. As for the choice, I say we kill her. She's a cat person. I don't like cat people. At all. In ANY form of media. Ever. So stab a lightsaber up her ass.

What sways it, you say? Perhaps my decision will.

I say we keep her. We're running with a Consular, so a tiny dose of Light won't penalize our sweeping stroll down the alley of Dark Powers. Besides, she's the only Guardian we'll get, and since we're doing the Dark Side, ((thpoilerth: we'll have to kill her later anyway.))

I should add that I don't feel really strong about this, and I'm fine with it either way. Also, just so you know, you're required at some point to make a Chris Hansen/Dateline NBC joke in here somewhere. It's LP law.

The in-character choice is obviously to kill her. The only thing that gives me pause is this...

...so yeah, probably kill her I guess. I've never done it before and I'll be interested to see how the Council reacts ;)

Also, my gawd was that some horrible wrist-slitting emo writing in that section! People who praise Bioware for their writing (myself included) have obviously forgotten about that sequence...

I'm really enjoying the thread - thanks for posting woodaba! Lots of great memories of playing this game.

One thing I noticed was, several of the characters bear very strong resemblances to certain actors, in appearance and even voice. I wonder if they served as inspiration for the game designers at all?

KOTOR movie - do it, Hollywood!

From memory, wasn't Bastila voiced by Jennifer Hale (ie: FemShep from Mass Effect)?

Definitely agree on the resemblance between Canderous and Ron Perlman BTW - it's all in the jaw :)

I believe you're right. The British accent clinches the Kate Beckinsale resemblance for me.

Also, I adopted some of the rats from my psych course. That's actually what my suitemates named one of them. Darth Sidious.

Well, it has been a while hasn't it? Mass Effect stole my life for a while, as it did with many others. But, updates should come more regularly from here on out, every two days hopefully. But you didn't come here to hear me ramble on, did you? No! You came here to hear me ramble on while playing a game. So, without further ado, let's get this show on the road!

Question Time! What game, in your opinion, had the best side-quests? For me it would probably be Fallout: New Vegas. That game has so many great side-quests, that if you took the main quest out, it probably wouldn't hurt the game all that much. There are so many factions to meet and join, and so many standout moments.

Sorting truth from lies? Sound like something you'll do through 90% of any given Obsidian game.

Perhaps not Storm of Zehir. That was mostly "Those are snake dudes. Snake dudes bad. Kill snake dudes. Try capitalism as well!"

Agreed. Aside from a few standouts, ME1's sidequests weren't all that interesting.

Oddly enough, I really did not like Skyrim's sidequests. The faction questlines felt like a step down from Oblivion (seriously, I think you steal, like, two things for the thieves guild), and most of the other quests were "HAY THAT CAVE HAS MONSTERS YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KILL THEM". The Daedric quests were as good as ever, though.

Man, Fallout 3 had some awesome sidequests. What other post-apocalyptic game let you sort out a scrap between two superheroes? Or contain a quest that butt-fucked the entire Fallout lore all to make a Blade Runner reference?

This crush is never elaborated upon. I've always assumed it was the Mandalorian Wars, but according to canon the wars never really got far from the outer rim. If there are any star wars nerds out there, I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on what this is. It feels like a massive gap in my nerdy trivia bank.

Considering this guys characterisation, I just assumed he's like the grumpy old man who used to live on the edge of a town, but over the yearsurban crawl has mean he now lives in a built up area so moves away as "its too crowded here".

I'd say the Mass Effect series' companion quests.
