When did you get this game? I've actually never played it all the way through. I only played Red, not FireRed
How often will you update? As often as I can. I'm a student, and my schedule can be a bit wonky at times. Sometimes I'm free, others, not so much. The actual playing of the game doesn't take much time
What input do we get to have? Besides naming the character, you can make recommendations on anything related to the pokemon or what I do with the game. If you think we should capture a specific pokemon, or learn a certain move, let me know. There will also be certain points where I ask what we should do. That will be done by popular vote.
Will you be doing breeding? Maybe.
Will you use cheat codes Likely, no. I will not.
What will be the tone of the LP? Will you be covering the story much? The tone will be more informative/humorous. I'll be mentioning the story, what there is of it. Pokemon games, have never been, in my opinion, the best "story" games.
What is your favorite pokemon game? Pokemon Silver. I played it for over 200 hours
Why are you LPing this game then rather than silver? Because silver hasn't aged well, and the graphichs are... not so great.
Will you be doing a Nuzlocke challenge? No. I don't really like doing those. Plus, I feel as though it cuts out quite a bit of the game. So no. I won't be going by the Nuzlocke rules.

So here we are. Here's what I want from everyone Gender for our main character: (Most for either wins) A name for our main character(The one I like most) What starter to pick: (Again, most for any wins) What to name that starter (See Name) A name for our Rival (Whichever is the most creative)
A small rule here though. I'll name the pokemon anything... except something crude or crass. Yes, yes, I know we all named a Metapod "Penis" or something along those lines, and then snickered when it used "harden". But come on. Some of us are adults here. I don't mind clever things, but nothing too profane, m'kay?
Pokemon is still as fun as it ever was. It is fun to get into debates on what are the most useful types. The ones I list are the ones I like the best.
1. Grass- With moves like leech Seed, Poison Powder, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Spore, they are useful for annoying the crap out of a opponent. Somebody that actually knows how to use a grass type, can be damn hard to beat.
2. Water- Just useful all around in my opinion. With only two weaknesses, good movepools, they are like a reliable car.
3. Ground- Hit 5 types for super effective damage and they can lay down one of the most useful moves in the game, stealth rocks. All ground types can learn rock type moves which makes for great coverage.
4. Psychic- This type has gotten better with age in my opinion. they usually have good special attack and they resist fighting which is always useful.
5. Bug- This is one of those types that has gotten me out of a jam more than I can count. They kind of sucked back in the day, they are now better than ever.
6. Ice- Horrible when it comes to defense, Ice type moves are some of the most useful in the game. Hitting Dragon,Flying,Ground,Grass for super effective damage. Every good team has at least one Pokemon with an ice type move.

A male character named Lucius (just because I like that name) with a Charmander named Johnny (in reference to Johnny Storm, the Human Torch).
EDIT: Oh, I forgot about the rival. I usually just name him Blue, but that's unoriginal and boring. Hm....If you go with Charmander, then he'll go with Squirtle...Namor (the Sub-Mariner)
Sweet glad your doing another LP, I was kind of disappointed the Ruby LP had ended.

If you have a PS2 then there is no reason not to play them in my opinion! The PS3 iterations are good, don't get me wrong, but they don't hold a candle to the PS2 games. They are third person platformers but don't let the platforming thing put you off, it's done very well and flows brilliantly.
The first game was good for its time, but the second and third (the third "Up Your Arsenal"[1] being in my top 5 games of all time) are just brilliant and fun games. If you like over the top guns, colourful environments and none of this regenerating health, "take cover or you will die" nonsense then you'll love them.
That probably read like an Insomniac PR guy but to be honest, I love the games and still play the PS2 and PS3 versions to this day.
[1] That being its actual subtitle should tell you how seriously this game takes itself, that is not very ;)

Ah, sweet! You're doing an entirely new LP and I get to witness you reviewing the start of this game. In fact, this version is one of my favorite Pokemon Games due to being part of the first series but renewed for the better. I'm looking very forward to this indeed :}

Name for main character: Escapist. Think about it, you're pretty much having us see your review as a group so for the guy to present The Escapist, that would be a delight. Ether that or Trainer Red.

What starter to pick: (Again, most for any wins) Bulbsaur. Not cause he makes the first three gyms insanely easy, but I find it to be the best. You can run a support set, you can run a status set, you can run an offensive set, you can run a defensive set. They've got a nice stat split to. Plus everyone gets a charizard to be that hipster cool "I like to make it hard and not pick type advantage".

I'd like to add that I love these LP threads the most when there are reaction/sarcastic humor placed with certain screenshots. Seeing a bunch makes me happy, but timed ones with suiting memes or so forth are just to die laughing for. That's all I request, is much humor to be placed with catchy videos perhaps. But you've entertained us well so far so I have no worries or doubts. ^_^
