You have a time capsule, and any games of your choice.

Convince future generations how dig it up about how amazing gaming was. You can pick 5 games.
I'd go for the Team ICO Collection, Katamari Forever, The Orange Box, Spore and CoD 4. IMO, this represents a good selection of diversity, from gritty realism, to cartoon realism, to isolation and bleak loneliness, to world creation and absolutely insanity.

1. Mirrors Edge
2. Skyrim
3. The Witcher
4. Red Alert 3
5. Pokemon Blue

1.SummonKnight Swordcraft story 2 (Pretty old GBA game)
2.Bioshock
3.Mass effect 2 (muahaha drop em right in the middle of the trilogy >:D)
4.Minecraft
5.Katawa Shoujo

Civilization V
Rise of Nations
Skyrim
Elasto Mania
Rainbow Islands

Fallout 3
Skyrim
Mass Effect 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Portal 2.
Guess who likes RPGs...

Planescape: Torment
Chrono Trigger
Baldur's Gate series (You can play them as one game after all!)
Disgaea
Bastion

Bit RPG heavy there, huh.

Super Mairo Bros 2
Tetris
The Orange Box
Legend of Zelda: Link to the past
Okami

I'm mostly picking for the value since they would be worth alot of money in the future (well for three of them).

Bioshock
Portal
Skyrim
Halo: CE
Minecraft

- The Orange Box
- Morrowind: Game of the Year
- Starwars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Shadow of the Colossus
- Silent Hill

The warning from history.

Black Ops
DN:F
DA2
Daikatana
Superman64

And for the good games,

Team Fortress 2,

Portal

Deus Ex

Fallout: New Vegas

Triple Town.

NieR
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny
Yakuza 3
Assassin's Creed 2
Pokemon White.

I will then proceed to stand around awkwardly as they exchange nervous glances and give false praise to these games I adore, fearing that they may offend my feelings, leaving me a tearful wreck.

I would put in:
X-Com, because it is such an enduring classic
Zelda OoT, because it was the only game in the franchise that truly revolutionised it
CoD 4, because it kicked off generation kill streak (for better or for worse)
Morrowind, because everyone forgets about that, and i still find its world more full of wonder than its successors
and finally, Civ 5, because hexes are cool. (seriously though, this was a toss up between 4 and 5 and i gave it to 5 because i hated the "stack 'o' doom")

I wouldn't put minecraft in because people will still be playing it.

1. Final Fantasy VII
2. Metal Gear Solid
3. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
4. Demon's Souls
5. Silent Hill 2

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Mass Effect 3
Call of Duty Black Ops
Star Wars: The Old Republic
