Are you looking forward to borderlands 2?

So borderlands 2 just got a proper trailer and a release date:
www.borderlands2.com
and I am wondering how many people are looking forward to this game, I really liked borderlands in fact its my favorite game (though not the best game I have played) and borderlands 2 just looks better in every way, more guns that are also more unique, more enemies that are also more unique, apparently also more class mods and shields that are more unique, a larger variety of mission types and a heavier focus on story. I mean the only way I could be any happier right now would be if they announced a collectors edition.

18 sep. couldn't come any faster. Dual wielding guns? That could be fun if its not just an action move or something. (Though it definetly looks like one..) Better melee would also be nice. And most importantly, end game boss. Seriously. Last one was...yuck.

I saw the Borderland 2 trailer, so I bought Borderlands 1 to bide the time '_'

Oh hell yeah. I loved the first game.

Assuming I can get at least ONE of my borderlands buddies to get the second game, I will be all over it.

Yes and no, I enjoyed what I played of the first game and it's DLC's but the story/story telling was shit and failed to keep me interested so I never got a chance to finish it.

With the engine remaining the same, hopefully they focus on scale and storytelling.

only the gunserker can duel wield guns due his ability, though I am looking forward to using axtons turret, it has a chainsaw, which would be pointless, but is still pretty damn awesome.

nuba km:
...-...chainsaw-...- damn awesome.

Couldn't agree more.

OT:But can he dual wield them all time or just during the ability? It'll be like Mordecai's cuddly birdy in the first game methinks. But,... doesn't matter, had se..guns.

only during his ability but if the guns are of the same type (i.e. 2 pistols or 2 shotguns) they get a accuracy bonus and if it is 2 different weapons they get a damage bonus, it may be the other way round.

the ninja character is supposed to be melee heavy so maybe he'll work well for you?

Anyway im stoked. I wanna pre order already.

The wonders of iterative gameplay ^^

Honestly this is what I'm happiest about, I loved Blands 1 and I only really noticed how striking this one looks after seeing the new palette. Couldn't agree more about a collector's edition, I remember Gearbox started a thread on the forums asking people what they'd want to see in one, so...

I liked Borderlands 1, I think the sequel can really improve what I hated about the previous game. I probably won't buy it, but I will be looking out for sales 'n' junk.

It's not a big "OMG MUST HAVE" for me, but I would definitely like to play it some day.

Yeah - it's actually really high on the "2012 games I'm looking forward to list." What can I say? I like games with lots of fun guns that you can play with friends. Also, they seem to have a very good critical process going on - they're aware of the weaknesses of the first game, and are actively working on fixing them. Also also, Anthony Burch.

I loved the first one. im gonna love the second. so...HELL to the FREAKIN yes im looking forward to borderlands 2!

I had a lot of fun playing the first one with a group of friends, and we've been talking about the second, but I won't be in a hurry to pick it up at launch unless the PC version is less of a wonky console port than the first one was. It was an entertaining game, but it was clearly not made with the platform I was playing it on in mind, at least not as their primary target. The additions/changes in the second game look pretty good in general, at least, which is encouraging.

As long as the gameplay isn't just, point and shoot until dead, I will be happy. the varieties of enemies and guns are looking really cool I have to admit. I'm gonna keep an eye on it.

I didn't even beat the first game :/
Soooooooooo repetitive and dull at its core features. Sure, the gun porn is fun, but there isn't really anything else in the game

Hell yeah! I can't wait! Hopefully Diablo 3 will be out soon to keep me pre-occupied until then.

Was very curious about the new character classes and was wondering which one I would pick.

...that is up until i saw Zero (a cyborg freakin ninja) in the trailer. How the hell do you compete with that?

The first game was fun until random people started joining your games, throwing modded weapons and shields at you, then leaving.

My only real complaint about the first game was all the quests boiled down to "go here and kill more of the same guys you've been killing since the beginning." Same problem that Rage had, it's hard to make a good story out of a FPS because that's always the problem you're going to be facing: repetativeness.

So I'm kinda on the fence for BL2. I fully admit that, while I was playing it, I did enjoy the first game. It just gets pretty dull after a certain point. I personally found the DLC campaigns to be more entertaining than the standard campaign...Zombie Island was hilarious and fun, as was Crimson Armory.

So if they can somehow make the missions something other than "Go clear out this place because we said so" only to have the next mission unlocked be "You know the place you just cleared out? Go clear it out again, but this time pick up some crystals along the way" then I'll likely give it a shot. If it's just more of the same just with some new bells and whistles attached, I'll probaby pass on it.

It does sound pretty exciting!

Hopefully I will be in a position this time where I can grab a buddy and play it multiplayer!

'More of twhat was good' is always a good formula!

Oh definitely. The only thing that annoyed me about the first game was the ending of it. Plus Zero looks like it'll be really fun to use.

I liked the first game well enough to play it through, but the repetitive quests and weak story elements did keep me away from a replay. But this sequel looks like they spent more money and tried to fix the problems from the first game, so I'm looking forward to it and will probably buy it on day one.

Not really, It's a closet-MMORPG (what I call Diablo, doubly so with Diablo 3) that loses its charm about a quarter of the way through. The ending is terrible (but I can't think of any of those click-n-slash/loot porn games that ends well), the guns even get boring after a while, and the few unique guns are usually too impractical). They just buff and pallet-swap the enemy rosters and I hate that they bring back bosses you've killed just so you can "farm" them. To be fair though, I have that problem with all these types of games.

It probably stands up better when you have friends, but meh... It's got to be able to hold you over single player when your buds aren't there, and it doesn't. Most of the dialogue is MMORPG style text boxes (Even Diablo 2 read it to you). You're actually far removed from a lot of NPC interaction seeing as you do most of your trading, buying, selling through vending machines. You even get all your quests from what are basically job boards.

So it's a bland, dull, grind of a game. Games should be trying to break away from this "grind until you get it right." mentality. I want to be engaged, not kill the same Skagg over and over again for a rare drop. Also the characters' impact on the game is nil. I wish I'd never spent the money on it.

Oh oh oh! Maybe there'll be more wonky bullets? Remember those strange eridians from the first game and that zig-zagging pistol? I'd like more stuff like those, except more useful.

Also is asking for a crafting system too ridiculus?

Oh yes. My friends and I played the whole game through together (one of each class, I was Mordecai ;)). It was an absolute blast. The ending was shit, but that was pretty much one of my only gripes. We've already got our classes down and we're patiently awaiting it's release.

I called Gunzerker. :)

EDIT: I wanted to add this video, but I forgot to at the time of posting. Figured I would edit it in now instead of adding another post.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHOY

Looks pretty damn good, if you ask me. The Dev is a pretty chill chap, as well.

Yes, very much so.

I loved the first one despite the fact that the ending was a pile of shit, but the DLC was super fun. I'm getting it and calling dibs on the Siren. The co-op looks like fun in this one as well, now if I can only find someone that will play with me....

No fekking chance. Borderland 1 was a major dissapointment. Won't be touching any of their products again, ever.

I'd totally forgotten it even existed, so ... no, I'm not XD

i heard a lot of badabout the 1st so i missed it out

BUT

i have not really got anything for while now so maybe i'll will get it

Sweet jesus fuck I need that game I need it now.

Borderlands is easily my all time favorite FPS.

Despite this, I'm actually not hyped for the sequel in the least bit. I'll no doubt buy Borderlands 2 when I feel like getting another FPS game. As is I'm simply sick of the genre and am have been taking a break from it for at least a year now.

Not really, the first Borderlands never caught my interest.

I can never understand FPS RPGs. It always seemed strange to me that when I shoot something it only does points of damage. I guess sword and sorcery RPGs have ruined me.

Need me some fucking big vehicles of mass slaughter!!!

You can play as a dwarf dual-wielding miniguns.

I'm sold.
