So remember Age of Decadence? Apparently it's now in public beta (yay!)

I haven't partaken yet, but it's first thing on my to-do list.

If you don't know, AoD is an old-school, isometric third person RPG. And from the looks of it, it's a really good one. It's also been in development since sometime before the advent of the cotton gin.

Anyone fired this thing up yet?

Nice. Downloading now.

Here's some more DL links

Installing right now actually. Expecting good things.

Downloading now, unfortunately i won't get to play it until tomorrow afternoon.

Looks pretty cool though, I think I might try and do it non-combat.

It's nice to see things are still stirring in the indie RPG department, sadly turn based games have been beyond my patience level for many years now.

Could make a persuasion based character and try to avoid combat. I haven't been able to play much, but its good so far.

Played it for a while. This is probably the only RPG in which I would suggest people NOT to play a fighter first time. The combat really is hard.

All in all can't wait. This is going to be more than fantastic. One of the very few games I'm excited about.

Fuck yes. Downloading.

No idea what this is apart from that it's supposed to be a good RPG. Downloading.

Definitely. I started a game as a mercenary, and so far, I've lost practically every fight I've started, it's actually a little frustrating! Generally, when the game gives you the option of walking away, you should probably take it.

Does anyone know if you'll be able to recruit party members? Turn-based combat isn't particularly interesting when you're only controlling a single guy.

Still, this game looks like it has potential!

At first I thought one of the characters was a Griefer, that would have been hilarious to fight people by griefing them.

Alas, tis just a Grifter.

From what I've seen in some videos you will be able to have some party members, but in combat you won't be able to control them.

Dammit! That was one of the things I liked least about Fallout 1 & 2. Not being able to control your whole party just leads to frustration when they act like idiots, and reduces strategic options in combat. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

After playing it more the "easiest" way is to pick an assasin. Max his Perception and Dexterity, and put points in dodge and critical strike. This way you can actually take on 2 thugs an beat them relatively easy.

This game needs the difficulty of the battles turned down. The AI literally cheats. Play the merc background, then play the assassin background right after it. It showcases how unfair the combat is.

I like this game in concept, but it needs to be toned down.
