Good chip tune music

It may just be the nostalgia talking but I love chip tune music. So I made this thread so people could share there favorites. And by extension I could hear more good chip tune music. Here are some examples from various different sound chips.

Does it have to be from games?

I usually have last.fm chiptune radio playing when I'm coding, it was for novelty value at first but I like music that hasn't got words for when I'm working so I'm not concentrating on lyrics and it worked well. I advise listening to that if you want to find some others you like.

Damn, that Mario nes music turned on and it hit my like a punch to the chest lol, I havent heard that since I was five

Not necessarily. But I'm not really familiar with any of it that does not come from games.

I highly recommend checking out Dubmood for good chiptune music. The song presented has videogame theme, though. It's in there. Spent me a day checking out videogame music to come up with where I had heard it.

RushJet1's music has a more GameBoy-like feel to it. It's very good.

Crystal Castles are sort of this, but they have other stuff too.

Anamanaguchi did the Scott Pilgrim Game OST, it's pretty awesome and their other albums are pretty good too.

EarthBound OST: Pokey Means Business

Does this count as chiptune music? I'm not very familiar with the term but heck, maybe it does?

AMIGA

for the undisputed win. "SID" chip; It was a hell of a lot ahead of it's time.

Here's a great example of mixing original Amiga music with something else

Yeah that counts. Chip tune as I understand it means music synthesized through a sound chip. So the bleeps and Bloops replace traditional instrument sounds.

My first thought was the Simon's Quest town theme... then pretty much all of the Scott Pilgrim Game. Both covered already.
Thought for awhile and came up with something less obvious... pretty much all of Crystalis

**edit**
Sometimes I forget that the 16-bit era actually counts here, not just 8-bit and retro games that pretend they're 8-bit. There's too much to choose from, so I'll just start editing 'em in as they come to me.

This is making me realize just how much of my youth I spent beating incredibly difficult RPGs...

Oh, I see. Then I will recommend another EarthBound song as well.
EarthBound - Bed And Breakfast

That is probably my favorite tune from earthbound. It's just, so peaceful.

For me, it has to be Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbXVNKtmWnc
The first time I heard it, it absolutely blew me away. Even today there are few songs that compare.

Hmm, the better stuff tends to be from outside of the chiptune niche with crossover from other genres. My artist picks would be

how has no one put up VVVVVV yet?

My favourite two are:

And

A couple of years ago I had the great pleasure of watching Mini Roc perform on a music festival here, well worth a listen if you're into it (I still do regularly); http://www.miniroc.com/

I guess I would be remiss if I didn't mention the games of Quintet. Many of which have be re-made into symphonic versions.
