FGC. Now being sponsored by porn
Honestly, I don't care either way. People's perceptions will always be affected by their personal biases. The fact that a fighting game is sponsored by a porn site doesn't take away from the quality of the title.
no its not for credibility its for money. anyway i think we on the internet had got passed the point were porn was a taboo, its only ever afew clicks away from you at any given point so why not let it sponsor gaming events? i really dont see the harm in it and i dont see how its any different to energy drink companies sponsoring popular youtuber's
The difference in this case is that we are talking about a segment of the gaming community that a month ago was in hot water over being highly discriminatory to females, and in particular was in trouble for some of it's fans shouting "rape that bitch". Now if it were something like a Maxim or possibly even another porn site that would be one thing but for it to be a site that has an entire sections devoted to pornstars pretending to be raped and enjoying it. At the very least this was a dumb mistake that will prevent bigger sponsors in the long term and at the worst confirms a lot of the suspicions laid at the FGC's feet at the moment, and by by association the rest of us.
i can see why others would find this offensive and a bad move but i personally dont due to the fact that i dont think watching porn or being affiliated with porn is disrespectful to women. as for the rape issue, thats trickier and the FGC should probably turn down the sponsorship for that reason, im not overly offended by it (its probably just stupid kids) but it does seem a bit dodgy
Hey, if they bring pornstars to events it would probably cause a massive spike in popularity. Sure, probably not the kind of popularity they want, but still... exposure
It does make sense in a weird way. After all, playing fighting games on the competitive level is a hands-on job.
Hey man, porn is pretty awesome so i'm down :)
Fighting game event .... with porn stars. Violence and boobs. I'm not seeing a problem here.
FGC you so silly :) | |
Exposure because people these days sure do love seeing some exposure. If you catch my god-awful drift.
Fighting games contain: Big breasted women who are sexually attractive. The fact that porn says, hey....thats the same market as us, we best join forces with them! Makes sense to me, nothing to see here.
Sex AND violence? That's like having your
Plus the women tend to dress the same in both mediums anyways
If they were only M & AO rated games I wouldn't see a problem with it but alot of fighting games shoot for T ratings to be available to everyone instead of just adults porn as easy as it is to find on the net if your looking for it it's never (intentionally) on sites made by Disney, Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network (Though adult sites may use their characters) so it's makes a bit of sense for FGC not to want them there. Though I'd imagine some money/entertainment could be made be doing such a thing however.
Yeah I don't see a problem with this
Come to think of it, NASCAR has always been family entertainment, despite the fact that the main cups have been sponsored by tobacco and alcohol companies for ages. Why is it okay for an alcohol company to sponsor an auto race (drinking and driving, much?) But not okay for a porn company to sponsor individual people in a fighting game tournament? They're both legally age restricted to adults, with porn actually having weaker restrictions than alcohol or tobacco...
Since on the internet, porn is only a few button presses away at all times, dont really care that its happened.
That is one of the most disgraceful things they can possibly do. They're associating themselves with swindling sin traffickers.

Because this is what every scene does when trying to gain credibility
