What was the last ending of a game that was genuinely satisfying?

Dark souls. The link the fire ending specifically. A bit of a strange ending story wise, but completing Dark souls was pretty satisfying anyways.

Thanks for letting me know, stops me from playing when I'm after something quick paced. I've been after something heavy on atmosphere for a while, appears it's sitting on a shelf looking at me...

I did like Bioshock's ending(s), even though you either ended up as jesus or skeletor McHitler.

Gears of War 3.

To me, the first one started slow. Then the second one raised the action. Then it was raised further with #3. The enemies kept growing in numbers and becoming stronger while shit started to hit the fan harder and harder. Lives were taken, sacrifices were made, but damn after so much shooting and hell the war finally ended. It felt damn satisfying to just put the controller down like Marcus put his gear down. It's been a long trilogy and it ended well.

this will sound paradoxical, but probably limbo.
