War with the Aldmeri! WUUTHRAD DEMANDS THE BLOOD OF ELVES! HAHA!!! Nothing better then a bunch of Crazy Vikings teaming up with an even crazier Werewolf Viking wielding a magic axe especially made for killing those long eared ponces. If the next game involves the inevitable war with the Aldmeri and doesn't allow me to import my Dragonborn from Skyrim, ride on the back of a dragon into the Summer Isles, use my voice to summon storm clouds and raise an army of ancient nordic heroes, I will be greatly disappointed. EDIT: But in all seriousness: Maybe the plot can go full circle? The Aldmeri enslave the humans of Cyrodil (unable to conquer Hammerfall and Skyrim), you start off as a slave, then after receiving visions from the Gods, lead a slave revolt, crush Aldmeri, and crown yourself as the new Emperor of Mankind. Think about it, when was the last time in an RPG where the good ending allowed you to become the Emperor of all Humanity?
I have a feeling that the next great war might be one of the DLC's for Skyrim. I personally hope it is as the Elder Scrolls game's have a long dev cycle. And while that's good for the games cause they get polished, yes skyrim had bugs but you know what I mean, I would hate to not to see it till a new game. Plus those Thalmor...talmar...those Elven bastards need a nordic boot in their asses.
I don't think the dwemer would side with the aldmeri because the aldmeri consider themselves superior to all and the dwemmer actually made alliances with those around them. If they enter, they would either be against the nords and dunmer do to their previous conflicts, but would probably independent from the thalmor.
I'm gonna say this right from the get go. I didn't like skyrim. It was too easy and too simplistic. It was short and unsatisfying...LIKE MY SEX LIFE...pause for laughter. I did however love Morrowind. If you could add the complexity that Morrowind had and mix it with some of the Skyrim aspects the game would be epic. I digress. I think the next Elder Scrolls game should utilize the entire world. And be complex again...hell it had regenerating health.
This idea has been suggested by countless people. This scenario would most likely take place in Hammerfell due to the large Dwemer presence there.
I'd like to see the next game being set in the Summerset Isles. I'd not too well versed, but from what I know, the Summerset Isles are pretty much where magic runs wild and all sorts of bizarre magical things happen. It would be a big contrast to the bleakness and the suppression of magic in Skyrim. The only real downsides I see are that the location is somewhat secluded and might not easily accommodate recurring factions from previous games (maybe bad on Bethesda's end but I'd be fine with a relatively fresh start) and the fact that the Altmer are pretty much all obnoxious pricks and the ones that never left the Summerset Isles would likely be the worst of them all
Personally I wouldn't mind going to Elsweyr because it sounds awesome.(large dessert+ancient, lost ruins=field day for me) However, I'd imagine that Hammerfell is more likely to be the next location. To add the reappearance of the Dwemer would be even cooler because I love exploring the Dwemer ruins and just seeing all the technology and architecture in them is awesome. If it were to be a case of they all were sent through time that would be interesting to see them react to everything that's happened since they disappeared. If the case were to be that they had gone even deeper into hiding and have become even more advanced then they were when they seemed to disappear it would be even more interesting because they might be up to the mid to late 1800's or even early 1900's in terms of technology at this point for all we know.
The thing is people HATED that. when Mororwind came out there were floods of people asking on how to get people to stop saying "OMG ITS THE NEREVARINE" every time you talk to them.
Still, if they didn't greet you like that (I admit that was annoying) It would be fantastic. I am not saying we need that for the next game, I'm saying that having a plot based around politics would be more fun than killing the big bad and saving Tamriel for the 100th time. Have your choice of faction have a drastic change on the world and cities. Make yourself a respected figurehead or a ruthless tyrant who has hits placed on them. That would be fun. Also bring Spears and Crossbows back! (especially crossbows)
The problem with doing politics is that your hero HAS to be forgotten, a player character can NEVER rise to a place of true importance within a government. If they did, explaining that in lore would require that all possible join-able political groups to be destroyed making doing it kinda pointless.
I'd love to see a truly deep storyline from them, and I like the idea of the dwemer there, it could work out pretty well and we could finally find out about them.
On this note I like how they handled the Shivering Isles in Skyrim. Your character did become Sheogorath in every way. Also did they ever say anything about what happened to Jyggalag?
I always had the idea the the dwemer were ovetaken terminator style by their machines. What happened to the dwemer? You ever notice all the soul gems you find that run their guardians?
No they havent | |
Think they are saving that for DLC or just not going to touch it?
There are some theories made by the lore masters of the Bethesda forums that Jyggy was reabsorbed into the Champion of Cyrodil after he became Sheogorath despite supposedly "freeing" jyggy in the Shivering Isles MQ. I don't remember the exact reasoning but it made sense when i read it.
The way Skyrim played out, made me think the Dragonborn would become the next emp and reunite the empire. Seeing as the strongest line of rulers have been Dragonborn and depending on your actions in the DB storyline, the emperor may be dead. With the backing of the greybeards and the imperials in Skyrim you could easily march to the White tower and be crowned the next Emperor. As mush as I would like to see this and the Empire/Thalmor war, I don't think we will see it and only be able to read about it in books found in future games. The next Elder Scrolls should go back to an Arena like area, where you have more than one country to explore.
The Greybeards have literally 0 political pull, and The Imperials will just elect either titus Mede II's son or a member of the high counsel.
They do in Skyrim, so you would have the Nords on your side, then if you lead the Empire to victory in the civil war, you would have those forces under your belt aswell. The Dragonblood in your veins would just be another claim to the throne. Along with the fact Odahviing would be on your side, with him and your shouts no-one could stand in your way. (got a bit evil dictator in my rant then)
An Akaviri invasion sounds most likely, which would provide a good reason for the Psijics to come out of seclusion. That would give an excuse to totally revamp the magic system again, so it's far more likely to happen as TESVI than as an expansion. There isn't really any particular province this has to take place in, as it would affect most of them equally. Perhaps the ruins of Morrowind would be a good landing zone for the invaders, as there's not likely to be much military force available, but I'd guess one of the provinces we haven't seen much of is more likely. High Rock or Hammerfell would work well with minimal new data for the Skyrim engine, but they aren't likely to present much of a visual change from Skyrim, so in the end I'd vote for the Summerset Isles or Elsweyr unless they get covered in a Skyrim expansion first.
They could have a canon ending (fallout 1+2 had canon endings and New Vegas may have one unless it s never mentioned again) Also, didn't all possible daggerfall endings happen? They could make all endings canon with clever writing. Also the current Sheogorath is the player charcter from oblivion and from dialoge, he completed the main quest (obviously) complete the dark brotherhood and thieves guild and presumably the other guilds and factions. Never mentioned much of the nerevarine's adventures outside the main questline, which house did he help? It's up to you.
-Fallout is a series that has been built on invalidating player choice in the sequel, ES is not.
Oh cool. We need a WoW killer. WoW just really isn't all that friendly to new players. I tried jumping in about a year ago, and everyone I played with was just running from fetch quest to fetch quest without giving any of it any thought or stopping to let me read or even explaining to me WHY we're doing this... Just mindlessly grinding. It was obnoxious to play a game for ten hours and have no context of why we're doing what we're doing. The only people I know who love WoW and still play today have been playing for five years or more. It's just so damn hard to join the cool kids club. An Elder Scrolls MMO would be perfect.
Woah, when did the whole Dragon-born thing becoming leader of the empire come from? I thought most people who wanted DLC want to take the fight to the thalmor, where did the dragon-born becoming leader of the empire thing come from. Also, sheogorath is intended to be your oblivion character regardless of past affiliations. He mentions martin who he fought alongside in the oblivion crisis. I await the DLC and hope it's worth the wait, whatever it is about. My point about daggerfall is that even if you chose a house to represent, you would not be forgotten.
I'd like the next game to be set in Valenwood. Plenty of oppurtunities for gorgeous scenery and interesting creatures, + we don't know much about the place so they could go pretty wild story wise.
I would like to see the next game either in Valenwood & Elsweyr or Black Marsh & lower Morrwind. As for DLC of Skyrim; I'm not really sure what direction it should take...
Thats a bunch of crap, your choices are invalidated by things like the warp in the west, nerevar disappearing, and becoming Sheogorath.
I'd kinda like some kind of story involving Orsinium. I want to help the orcs retake it or found a new one.
Akavir. Nuff said. In-game book also points to Tosh-Raka talking about invading Tamriel.
Hell yeah! Monkey people ftw!
I completely forgot about the Psijic Monks. That would be a great idea. Combined with the Akaviri, it could invite a whole reversal on Skyrim's unease and prejudice towards magic - making plain warriors laughed at and mages celebrated as superior. The Akaviri have their star/light magic, which I was always interested in when exploring their ruins in Oblivion. We could get a whole new magic coming in, similar to Thu'um. How about some sort of new Alessian character, to unite Tamriel?
I really don't like that whole theory that everyone goes on about. I don't want to believe that my female Oblivion character whom I role-played as a good, pious and religious character ended up as a mad daedric prince. I'll point out that Jyggalag himself didn't know what it meant with you taking on the title of Sheogorath. He didn't know whether to call you mortal, or whether you'd somehow become a god from this. It's my belief that your character doesn't become a Daedra simply for releasing a Daedric Prince, but rather the title of Sheogorath is now more of a king than a Daedra. As such, when your character dies, someone is newly elected as the next Sheogorath, and because they're likely mad, may delude themselves into thinking they did all your deeds from Oblivion. Not only that, but the Sheogorath we encounter is a remnant from Pelagius' mind - so perhaps, it was a memory imprint from several years previously, before we entered Shivering Isles.
I hear Elsweyr, Valenwood, and the Summerset Isles being bandied around a lot. I think any of these are viable, although not so much the Summerset Isles with the Thalmor as they are now. Now, what might be interesting, and possible, for the next game... would be if they did all three of them at once. Three states? Three distinct environments? Lots of different cultures? HUGE World? Possible. Maybe they'll only do two. Probably, they won't do that. But it would allow a new direction, and I think it'd be pretty interesting. It doesn't have to be those necessarily, but a lot of interest has been expressed, so hey, why not?
Hammerfell would be a very interesting and exotic contrast with Skyrim. After all that frost, The Elder Scrolls could definitely do with a bit of a thaw out. It would probably mean a ton of new creatures too, especially for the desert regions.
Actually the warp in the west made every possible ending true, so your ending didn't get invalidated, it was validated if anything. Furthermore Nerevar disappearing doesn't invalidate what he did, only what he could have done. And finally the champion of Cyrodil is only sheogorath if you want him to be.

I'd love to have my argonian character to return to Black Marsh. It was also the only region that fought off the Daebra by itself, was never really conquered by the Empire--only the borders and the villages near them--and was the first region to succeed. If I'm remembering the wiki pages currectly.
