Poll: Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition: Should they make the new content available for console players? Pages PREV 1 2 3
i think some of those decisions were made to make it even between console and PC players in terms of controls. in effect they want you to play the game like it was made to be played from the start, with a controller not a keyboard.
For future reference look down the page it was two posts away. You don't need to reiterate that.
well i could say "final fantasy 7 is getting a PC only HD remake" and i'd get quoted asking for sources/how in holy hell that's true. I was just curious as to where you had heard as such.
Put it this way - if the publisher isn't going to fund making the DLC why would most developers bother?
The publishers have the final say on roughly everything. When the game is shipped regardless of if it's even finished or not, the IP rights to do whatever they want with it and the right to do whatever they want with DLC. If the publisher wants to cut the last 1/5th out of the game and sell it to you as DLC (see Asura's Wrath) then they can.
Well all I heard was they where making a x box version that was going to have extra content and that it was going to be free on the PC as well. I wasn't really fallowing the game that was just kind of something I pieced together. I was wrong it would appear they are different somehow I don't don't play either game. So just forget I said anything.
Eh, dont care one way or another. One thing to consider though is that the DLC might not be able to be run on the console version of the games. The game is very pretty already from what I have seen, but if there is too much going on in the DLC portion it might make consoles go HURK and die.
Since when does "better support mouse/keyboard" automatically equate to "fundamentally change the gameplay"? The game can support mouse and keyboard and still have the plan ahead, no magic pause inventory system that the console version has. These two things are not mutually exclusive. And what does it mean to keep the systems even? Are the difficulty police really going to go out and break the devs fingers just because one feature in the game is marginally easier on one platform?
I'll probably play it with my wired xbox pad which I bought specifically to play platformers and the like on Steam. I have difficulty seeing how the controls will work with a mouse and keyboard but maybe I will be wrong and they will be great. They definitely shouldn't change the fact that you have to cycle through pots etc and change it to keybinds. It's part of what makes the game hard.
Thats kinda how buying a game wwoorrkkss.. Their, most likely, going to milk the consumer on consoles by selling them the PC version, essentially, as extra DLC. PC gamers are getting the extra content as, and I'm being general and guessing, but to show that they take the platform seriously and won't release a broken mess.
Bosses, weapons, and gear in general. Yes its different. Its like not seeing the difference between a pistol and a rocket launcher. -------------------------------------------- The Advanced Edition should be sold as DLC on consoles, so they can make some more money to make the next Dark Souls or whatever. Or they sell it again as a collectors edition extra.
Want to explain that more? Your explanation was the difference between a fish and muktuk. A metaphor only works if you explain your option before hand. I have not idea what that had to do with what I said and regardless I don't care I didn't like the game that much. I mean you can respond to this with a clear explanation just bare in mind I don't much care about the game. And by the way I didn't make that word up muktuk is a real thing. You know what don't bother respond I am going to bed and I am not going to read this tomorrow.
Nothing should be exclusive. Not sure on the free part, price of games degrades over time and if it's going to be full price right now on pc whereas you could get it on console for like $30, then maybe it shouldn't be free.
It would be nice, never played it myself yet, but If they release this on Xbo360 as free DLC or a GOTY edition, I'll buy it as soon as my exams are over.
definitely maybe charge a couple quid for it as dlc
Sort of makes me mad actually. Not on Fromsofts part, but the situation The suggestion of no improved resolutions or textures, but they can develop additional content. Content that thanks to purchasing for PS3 I will not even be able to DLC if it DOES become DLC thanks to Sony's stupidity of preventing me from updating my PS3 over an illegal "you must give up your legal rights" provision in firmware/software updates. So, sucks that I will end up having to give up my 100+ hour file Just to get DLC content. Though I had every intention of buying the PC version anyway and even if FromSoft doesnt do it themselves Im confident the community will work out how to mod at least higher resolution textures into the game.
Maybe From should do some sort of GOTY edition with all DLCs (including the new PC "exclusive" content) in a few months time? If I was an xbox player, paying for that DLC would leave a sour taste in my mouth, but I guess some people would rather pay 10 bucks and have it sooner rather than later. They could just bring it out for free in a patch, but we all know how Microsoft is when it comes to patching in new content for free. Takes a behemoth publisher like EA to bully them into that.
NO! It berongs to grorious Master Race now!
I have it on Xbox 360 so I will be quite pissed off if they don't make the content available to me, I don't mind paying for it as long as I have access to it.
I would say they should work on making the PC version a PC version first.
Microsoft is why Valve never released any of the updates for the 360. Valve INSISTED it be free, Microsoft INSISTED it be paid, Valve decided rather than charging their 360 customers they just won't release it.
Well, the developers themselves have actually come out and stated that gamepad is the preferred way to play the game and that mkb support will be minimal, so I don't think you're wrong.
I was under the impression that console players would get this content in some form anyway. As for demands for it to be free, i dont see why it should. PC gamers still need to buy the game to get it. Besides Microsoft would never allow free DLC.
Details are few and far between at the moment, but it seems like at least 2 entirely new areas to explore each with a boss to get brutally raped by. Id also assume theres new goodies to be found in theese areas too.
I think they should because whilst I'm getting it on PC it's kinda unfair that we get extra content when the console gamers who supported the game and allowed it to get to where it is today get shafted. Us PC gamers should know plenty about supporting a game and then getting shafted when the Developer/Publisher moves the game to console.
Because sadly, Microsoft says no. PS3 users might get it though.
Thats fine, but the difference seriously is NEW bosses and NEW gear. How is that different from current gear and bosses? Well the fact that their NEW and different.
What if the new content was made to take advantage of higher end hardware? If it would overtax a console then they wouldn't be able to release it for a console. I remember Devil May Cry 4 had a special mode for higher end machines that just threw more enemies at you, since you have the processing power to run extra baddies. Although if it's not something like that then I see no reason not to put the extra content on consoles.
Sure, why not? Why limit the shiny new version for one group and shut out the other? Fans are fans. Noodles are noodles. We do what we do.
No, that's not what i said. The Witcher 2 extras that were given to PC players (and Xbox players when they buy the game) for free was good, because it was essentially a gift from the devs, the game wasn't incomplete or anything but they just looked at the feedback and improved the game. the Dark Souls fiasco is neutral, because there's nothing good or bad about it, however because of The Witcher, people are ruining their own interpretations as well as the faces of different companies when they don't follow in CDProjekt's ways.
I see no reason for them not to sell it as dlc to console players.
Why would it leave a sour taste in your mouth? Its no different then buying dlc for any game that you know will eventually come out with a game of the year edition. If you buy it early there is always the chance that dlc will come out and it ends up being more expensive then if you had waited a year for the game of the year edition.
I have trouble seeing how it would work too. I think it's the constant need to hold up your shield which puts me off using a mouse and keyboard, especially as light and heavy attacks will probably need to be mapped to the mouse buttons. I agree also that keybinds would remove a lot of the challenge of the game. It would become far too easy to spam magic attacks.
Sure, I wouldn't even mind if it was paid DLC. From Software has every right to make a buck from their hard work. PC gets a great console game in its complete form, console gets the extra content. Everyone wins.
u shuld console sccrubs get pc content? pc ftw LOL if u cant afford a gaming pc u should get a job
Ah I gotcha now. We assume that all devs should be like CDProjekt and when they're not we think it's a bad thing. And we shouldn't think that. Cheers man.

I thought the developer of the game gets the final say on DLC. That kinda seems unfair that publishers have that much power over a developer.
