Dragon's Dogma may very well be the sleeper hit of the year

The demo is out on XBLA, I'm downloading it right now.

Yeah, not releasing a game like this on the PC is a really stupid move.

Not gonna get it. I'm currently boycotting Capcom for their buisness practices.

If they release AAI2 I MIGHT get it when it goes down in price.

Daystar Clarion:

What the hell is journey?

You don't even know what Journey is?

...

Get out.[/quote]

No. That applies to both your question and your demand.

Looks pretty awesome. The guy in the first video kind of seems like a doofus. Serious reservations for a game because it isn't multiplayer? Pass.

I can sort of understand where he's coming from.

I mean, the game really looks like something you could play with others.

I think the pawn system is really interesting though, I think it's a cool idea.

Probably better than actual multiplayer. Imagine playing this game with CoD kiddies.

Yeah I think I might download that demo right now XP

Tayh:
Console exclusive -> don't give a crap.

Well, have fun missing out on like half of all awesome games.

The thing is having a multiplayer in addition to the pawn system would make this game look amazing. Being able to party with your friends while online would be awesome especially with something like the pawn system for other times. Instead its just looks well completely forgettable which is probably what will happen to it with me.

Yeah, my Xbox is currently downloading it.

I was gonna get it on the PS3, but I'm not sure if the PS3 version will be 'inferior' or not.

You know how the PS3 is with certain titles *cough*Skyrim*cough*

Looks like it could be good... but its Capcom so probably not.

The guy in the 2nd video talks like hes presenting Blue Peter or something.

So when exactly is the release date? I wasn't interested at first but it does look fun, keeping an eye on this and dishonored. Have a huge backlog of games to borrow from my cousin and to buy after my exams (I vowed not to buy any games til after my exams end june 20th) The darkness II, Kingdoms of Amulur, Saints Row the Third, Catherine and much much more. Also getting a 3DS as soon as my exams are done so I'll be pre-occupied for a while.

In the US it comes out on the 22/5 and in the the EU, 25/5.

Thanks mate, off to download the demo and see what the fuss is about!

The thing that really puts me off is that it looks so plain.
It's as if they looked up "Medieval mythology" on google images and couldn't be bothered with artistic license.

I don't understand how those videos should sell me. They showed some gameplay with little context and said "This is too complicated for me to explain".
Does the game have a story? What is it?

Palademon:

In a word, yes.

In a video...

Now that actually looks interesting.
Although the gameplay videos made it seem like there was a great disconnect between story and gameplay, which is one thing that anooys me in RPGs.

I don't get why the guy in the first video is covering it. He continuously pans single player RPGs, is always complaining about co-op, criticizes things he hasn't touched, and constantly grates on my nerves. We get it, you like multiplayer games and were fully inclined to say no to any game without it, prior to ever touching it. Douche.

OT, however, I'm quite enjoying the growing idea that this is a quality game. Seeing as I have a PS3, I don't have to cry those sorrow filled PC gamer tears, as well, and the argument that it's a little too "skyrimmy" doesn't bother me, since I'm okay with that idea. Can't wait for a demo to arrive.

Played the demo today, GOOOOOOOOOD stuff.

You guys can get it on PC when we get another one of your exclusives.

That's how things work now. You get one of our exclusives when we get one of yours. You guys traded Witcher 2 for Dark Souls so you got to trade something else for Dragon's Dogma.

And no arty indie side scrollers! We have enough of those on XBLA/PSN.

Youre getting Serious Sam 3 sometime later this year. Is that good enough?

Guess I'll try out the demo... but with that combat system, I'm probably going to be annoyed with the lack of a keyboard. I have my doubts as to the effectiveness of being limited to ten buttons with the plethora of spells you get to choose from.

Still, this seems to fix one of the things that has annoyed me about medieval fantasy games pretty much for my whole life. The physical representation of magic, and how it interacts logically with the environment looks absolutely top-notch. I've really gotten tired of magic, health, et cetera just being an arbitrary number in RPGs.

Zeckt:
Tales of Graces

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Whoa.

There's a new Tales game coming out?! WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS?

Lord Beautiful:
I do think it looks cool. Unfortunately, there's no way in hell I'll be getting it for a while. Can't be giving Capcom money, now can I?

Why not? If they do something RIGHT, they deserve money!

Saw the original trailer back when I actually posted a lot on Unity. Looked shite. I see things have improved. I might get this now.

What was it like?

I've downloaded the demo, but don't have a chance to play it until later.

Alright, I played the demo... and the melee combat is pretty fun. Archery is abysmal, but I say that about any game where I have to place a cursor with any sort of precision using a thumbstick. Unfortunately, the only two available demo quests peg you as an Aragorn character and a customizable Legolas, no Gandalf action like the second vid in the OP. On the subject of character customization, they did a damn good job. A little short on selection, but it's a demo. I expect the actual game will be pretty awesome on that front.

...I'm pleasantly surprised. I may actually buy this.
