Games That Are So Good You Bought Then Twice Pages 1 2 3 4 5 NEXT
Red Dead Redemption. Got it two week later on the Xbox, got 100% then when I bought my new PS3 I got 100% on that as well.
I'm very much considering doing it with Dark Souls PC, considering how the extra content is handled, since more of DS is nothing but a good thing. The game itself is brilliant and suits well on a console, but it'll be interesting to see how it handles on the PC. As for actual stuff, well, I did have 2 copies of HL2 for a while, since I bought the original HL2 and then got a free copy, once the Orange Box hit. I've since given it away to a friend though, which I'm happy about, since he hadn't played it before. Other games, RCT2. I have the original game from way back when it came out, but I recently bought another copy off GoG, since it includes all the expansions and stuff and I won't have to bother with getting it to work properly on Windows 7(if any problems should arise). That's all I can really think of, of the top my head.
I've bought a few games more than once but that's more a result of me losing the original discs OR the CD Key associated with them because I lost the manual. Off the top of my head: Diablo 2
Well I'd never buy a game twice JUST to experience it on another platform. I don't see what the other platform would add to it. I did end up getting Mass Effect 1 on both for PC and for 360 since I wasn't sure if my computer could handle the subsequent Mass Effect games and I wanted to be able to import characters.
2 x Bioshock 1 (360, Steam) Reasons:
Re-Volt and Shadowman, had them for the N64 and they were great, heard the PC version of Re-volt was awesome and had an on line mode that was still active, well it was active 1 year ago, I'm not sure if it's still is, I got Shadowman because I found it on a garage sale and was dirt cheap, and since I no longer have my N64 cartridge well why not?
I noticed, about 7 or 8 years after originally buying it upon release, that my Deus Ex CD was a bit scratched. I couldn't bear the thought of ever not being able to play it, so I bought another copy. Now I sleep much better.
I own three copies of Ocarina, first for 64, 3DS and got one free with Wind Waker.
I bought an extra copy of Amnesia and gave it to some random person on a forum in order to support the developers.
Oblivion i brought it on the Xbox, then once i got a good computer i brought it for modding also halo 1, regular version and the updated one
Fable TLC (xbox/pc) | |
Shit I forgot about that. Oblivion on PC when it first came out, then the GOTY last year for 12 bucks on PS3. Same with Fallout 3 and Dragon Age Origins.
May I ask what prompted you to do this? OT:
Oh. I forgot to include reason #4: Activision needed more $100 bills to light their cigars with and I obliged like the wallet carrying, entranced magpie that I am.
This has happened to me over the years. Sometimes it was for a different platform, sometimes as part of a compilation Kings Quest V (2) So yes I did buy Brutal Legends twice. I was hit by the bug on the PS3 that rendered the game unfinishable so got the 360 version for $5 on dick smiths recent sale
Dragon Age: Origins. I bought it for the PS3, then decided I wanted a Steam copy as well. I feel kinda vindicated, though. The PS3 version focuses more on what your character is doing, whereas the PC version feels more like an RPG strategy type game. MICROMANAGE ALL THE THINGS.
Oblivion I bought the normal edition originally 4 years ago, then traded it for store credit.
The Orange Box. I had it on PS3 originally, though when I had to move away for Uni my brother kept that console while I got a 360 to take with me and decided that I needed it in my life once more. Totally worth it. :)
I lost my Deus Ex disc a while back so I just bought a copy on steam. Now I will never lose it again.
I've got: Dragon Age: Origins on PS3 and PC, And all of those games deserve it.
DAO, Rome total war, HL2, COH, BF2 & FO3
Everytime I see a copy of Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 I get tempted to buy it. a) somewhat rare I'm a shameless collector of games, and so far I have 3 copies in varying conditions. I paid $80 for the first one (but it was in a buy 2 get 1 free deal), less than $20 for the second (I don't know what they were thinking, but apparently some daft bitch had decided not to buy it because it was a present and she felt her son would want a new copy, I bet he hates her guts now) and finally $30-$40 for the last one, cuz I knew it was worth more than that. Of course none of that can beat the 1 copy of Ico that I own. Which I bought for $7, obviously Cash Converters didn't do their research.
Spirit Engine 2, to support the developer + composer.
GTA 4 (360, Steam) I guess my brain is like, "Why would you want to do all that work of putting a disk in the tray, when you could just download it and play whenever you want? Also, the games will look better." How can I argue when it's being so logical?
Mass Effect 1, Alien Extinction, Jade Empire and Breakdown, that last one was enough of an awesome game I bought it several times, but that was mostly because where I was it was eventually priced at $2.
Persona 3 is so nice, I bought it frice! -Original, FES, PSP, PSN. The original copy ran me into the ground for about a month with it's $75 dollar price tag.
It's crazy you mentioned that, because I literally just got done tracking the order of Red Dead Redemption from Amazon that I bought again. So yeah, there's that game, there's Assassin's Creed 2, and I bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 on steam.
The binding of Isaac. I think I bought it four times because its so good/cheap.
Mass Effect 2. First on PS3, second on Steam. My computer had the specs required, and there was a deal, so I figured why not?
I recall that FF12 was the only game I bought twice. Great game and it only cost me 20 dollars. well 20 x 2. So 40.
Fallout 3. First on the PC in 2008. Then the GOTY edition on PS3 in 2011. I'll probably buy it again on Steam in the future. So that'd be three times. I also bought Oblivion twice. First on PC in 2006. Then the GOTY in 2009 something, also on PC. Will probably also buy it on Steam in the future, so that'd also be 3 times.
I I have three versions of Cave Story, but one of them is the freeware original, so I only "own" it twice, one is the DS e-shop version and one is the updated release on steam because you can never have to much Cave Story. I also felt compelled to buy the XBLA port of Banjo-tooie, despite owning the original cartridge version, mostly as a backup because N64 games aren't known for their long lifespans.
Left for Dead and eternal sonata are the only games i bought more than once . L4D i resold to gamestop and rebought it 6 months later . And eternal sonata i bought three times . Because the first time my gf scratched the CD and the second time my dad scratched the CD .
Parasite Eve. Discovered it in 2009, bought it for $90 at an independent game-trading store... Sold it back for $50 because I needed the cash... Then bought it back for $80 (I know, I'm a total sucker) a few months later... Then when it became available for just $6 on the Playstation Network I promptly facepalmed, then headdesked several times... And then I bought it again. Blaghhh.

Good video games have always been a driving factor in all of my purchases. But sometimes you just cannot get enough of that one game and you want to experience it on another platform. As for myself I noticed I have been buying the same games twice, one for my Xbox (sometimes twice for that) and one for my PC. I myself purchased: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory 3 times (let someone borrow it never returned, and traded a copy for a cell phone), Fable: The Lost Chapters, GTA: San Andreas, and most recently Deus Ex: Human Revolution. So my question to you is what games have you felt were worth buying more than once?
