Games That Are So Good You Bought Then Twice

Skyrim, Oblivion, The Orange Box, CnC 3: Kane's Wrath, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty 2, and Battlefield 3.

I bought all of those for both PC and Xbox 360

Jak and Daxter

Bought it for PS2, years later I got the HD collection
I'm intending to do the same for Ratchet and Clank 1,2 and 3

Uplink, because SERIOUSLY, INTROVERSION DESERVES ALL YOUR MONEY. Also because Uplink is awesome.

Fallout 1-2. I own 4 or 5 copies. It's our duty to preserve this masterpiece for future generation ! ;]

I own most of the games I bought on GOG on the original discs. DRM free updated copies of my favorite games that don't require a disk check are well worth the pittance they are sold for. I also own two copies of KOTOR 2 after disc 5 on one copy got scratched, I repurchased VtM:B on Steam while I still own the original and I still have X-Com on 1.44 floppies somewhere but it has been ages since I've even seen a floppy drive.

Why would you buy a game twice? That seems like a waste of money *looks at collection* oh poo.

Jumping Flash 2 (PSX/PSN)
DMC1-3/DMCHD
Prince of Persia (Steam/PS2)
and I'm probably going to rebuy Catherine for PS3.

Plants vs Zombies 3 times. Once for DS, once for Xbox and once for PC. I will probably get it for iPad.
Alan Wake twice, one for Xbox one for PC.

Edit: And Tales of Vesperia. The disc got damaged after my friend borrowed it once.

Castlevania SotN, Harvest moon back to nature, Chrono trigger, chrono cross, Dragon Age Origins, Breath Of Fire 3

There are quite a few games I have multiple copies of, but most of them I didn't buy because the game was exceptional.

Some I did: Shadow of the Colossus (PS2, PS3), Ico (PS2, PS3), Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (PC, PS2, PS3), Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2, PS3).

well, I did because I had to, but my Oblivion disc broke 2 times. So I had 3 copies. Damn XBox. Now I'm a PC gamer and I never have that problem again. Oh and I bought Oblivion for PC too.

That would make 4 copies total.

I bought Oblivion twice on the same system. Bought it when it first came out, sold it a couple years later and then bought the 5 year anniversary edition not too long ago. To be honest, I'd probably buy it a third time once I get my hands on a decent PC.

I'm ashamed of myself for the first three games on this list:

Mass Effect 1 (360, PC
Mass Effect 2 and all weapon/story relevant DLC (360, PC)
Dragon Age Origins (360, Ultimate edition - PC)
Darksiders (360, PC)
Fallout New Vegas (360, PC)

Oblivion. 3 times. The first copy was a gift from a friend. It was my first of many things, first 360 game, first major rpg, first game I spent an ungodly amount of time on. The second time I got it was for PC but my computer couldn't run it so I had to buy another copy for the 360 when the first one broke.

Um...Left 4 Dead 2. Bought it 360 then got it on PC when I learned how awesome Steam was. Same with Portal 1.

most of my duplicates are from wanting games on the newer systems even though i have them on the original console (which is with my parents)

super mario bros. (NES, WiiVC)
kirby's adventure (NES, WiiVC)
castlevania III (NES, WiiVC)
super mario bros. 3 (NES, GBA)
donkey kong country (SNES, GBA)
super mario world (SNES, GBA)

gta: vice city (PS2x2) - i let someone borrow it and they scratched the disk to hell. got another one, and i still don't care to finish it
soul calibur 2 or 3 (PS2x2) - some scratched it on accident and i got another copy

starcraft - lost the disk at some point and got another copy.

i also have almost all of the games in both the mega man anniversary collection and mega man x collection on their original formats, i think i'm just missing x2 and x3 on SNES.

i'd rather just have one permanent copy though than buy a digital one.

Red faction 1, the prince of Persia original trilogy, and matrix path of Neo, considering buying dead space 1 and the darkness 1 again.

DAO and ME1 are both good games as far as I'm concerned, ME2 was a disappointment to me so I can understand that but why are you ashamed of ME and DAO?

I got two copies of Dragon age Origins for PC and PS3, as well as 2 copies of Mass effect 1 for both PC and Xbox. That's about it.

I bought Dragon Quest IX twice since you can only have one save file per cartridge.

I have Oblivion for PC and Xbox360, I also own two copies of Okami for PS2.

I don't think I've ever bought a game twice. The thought of it just bothers me. I have downloaded WoW twice, but the second time was because it was free.

Kingdom Hearts
Mass Effect [360/PC]
Persona 3 [PS2/PS2/PSP]
Diablo II
Metal Gear Solid 3
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Final Fantasy X

I'm mad at myself for filling EA/Bioware's pockets before knowing their history. Had I read about them back in 2009, I would have been able to avoid Bioware altogether.

I got Portal, as it was included with the Orange Box. Then I downloaded it from XBLA with the extra levels.

Also Call of Duty 4, after somebody borrowed it from me and never gave it back.

Crimson Skies for Xbox, got a free copy with an Xbox live box thingy.
Armed and Dangerous for Xbox, dog tried to eat disc, put holes in it, bought it later for like $3.
That's about it, I think.

:P the only games I've bought twice are games that I traded in towards other games. In some cases it was me just taking in a stack of my old games and accidentally trading one in I didn't intend to, other cases I fully intended to trade in the game but after a few months I realized "God damnit, I REALLY wanna play that again!"

Some such games include:
Left 4 Dead 2
Portal 2
Bioshock 2

I've bought Kingdom Hearts several times so I could force other people to play it.

Also, Journey. I need everyone to know that game exists. Yes, I do live in the backwaters.

Harvest Moon a Wonderful Life for the PS2, my dad sold my GC without me knowing and i had that game for it, the terrible thing is, the game was bugged to shit, laggy as hell for some reason and you have to BUY GRASS IN THE FIELD SO YOUR COWS CAN EAT......oh my god the GC version was so much better T__T stupid dad * sobs *

Borderlands
bought it day one, sold it after I got every achievement
bought a PS3, and bought it again sold it after I got every trophy
bought it on Steam, played it with bunch of bros
re-bought it for PS3 when Claptrap Robolution DLC came out, sold it after I beat it
just bought it again yesterday when 2 of my friends bought it for the first time and wanted to play with me

still loving it and I'm having a crazy good time with it :) September can't come soon enough

Mass Effect (bought from friend, then traded it in, then bought the Games on Demand version, then bought another hard copy of the game)

Mass Effect 2 (bought 2 Xbox 360 versions of the game, then got one for free on Origin with DA2)

Mass Effect 3 (bought the collector's edition for myself and a standard version for my brother)

Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Emerald (lost the first ones then bought both of them again later)

Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver (bought two copies of each game)

Transformers: War for Cybertron (bought, traded, bought again)

Let's see here... Do remakes/remasters count? Operating under the assumption that they do:

Bioshock (Xbox 360, Steam)
Bioshock 2 (Xbox 360, Steam)
Blue Dragon (Xbox 360 x2)
Borderlands (Xbox 360, Steam)
Duke Nukem Forver (Xbox 360, Steam)
Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, Steam)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64, Gamecube, 3DS)
The Orange Box (Xbox 360 x2)
Portal (Xbox 360 x2, Steam)
Portal 2 (Xbox 360, Steam)
Silent Hill 2 (PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360)
Silent Hill 3 (PS2, Xbox 360)
Silent Hill 4 (PS2, Xbox)
Team Fortress 2 (Xbox 360 x2, Steam x5)

For a little bit of an explanation, for the 2K games (Bioshock, Duke Nukem, Etc.) I owned them for the 360, then during the summer sale the "2K Collection Pack" was on sale, and I really wanted the Civilization games and viewed the PC version of other games as an added bonus.

I bought Blue Dragon used, then saw it on sale new on Amazon for $1 so I picked it up.

I got L4D2 on the 360 the year it was released and recently was gifted it on Steam by some TF2 buddies.

I just love OoT, and just bought it to be able to play it again really.

I lost my first copy of The Orange Box so picked it up again for $20 as we were still playing TF2 on it regularly, then I found my previous copy so now I own 2.

I own Portal on the 360 via The Orange Box, then got it free one day when Steam was offering it.

I own Portal 2 for the 360 and a friend of mine bought the PS3 version and gave me his Steam redemption code.

I bought Silent Hill 2 and 4 for the Xbox a few years back, then a couple of years ago wanted to pick up Silent Hill 3, found a listing on eBay selling used PS2 copies of SH2, 3 and 4 for less then most listings were selling SH3 alone, so I picked it up. Then I picked up the HD Collection for the 360.

And with TF2, it was in The Orange Box, and I'm really a sucker for the PC version so when it went F2P I bought some keys on some different accounts and use them to idle with (They also come in handy for Steam events like the Christmas coal and stuff)

Operation Flashpoint 4 times.
1st = Lost
2/3 = Still have them, one is original, other is GOTY with expansions.
4th = part of ARMA X (Technically free with it, but still counts).

Goldeneye(N64). Honestly dont remember how many times I have owned that game, sold it, then wanted it again.

I bought my first The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for the 360 when it came out. About a year after that the disk broke and I bought a new one. Then a while later when the GOTY edition came out, I bought that too. And last summer I bought it from Steam for my PC. That makes four copies in total. I really do love the game. I've also bought some other games for my PC that I have had on 360, like Mass Effects and Fallout 3.

Chrono Trigger, bought the original SNES version, the PSX version, and the DS version.
Also Fable, bought the original on Xbox and The Lost Chapters on PC.
Oh and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, bought the PS2 version, the Xbox360 version, and the Xbox360 Gold Edition which turned out to be a waste of money.

Persona 3, Persona 3 FES and P3P. 3X P3!
