Where in crikey fuck is Nier?

Can anyone say Shadow of the Colossus?

What about Wind Waker?

Or Chrono Trigger?

Or Megaman X?

@Zhukov quote "You lost me with your use of the word "real". Because, y'know, any such list you don't agree with is not "real".

Oh hey, and then you made a snide and irrelevant implication that any reviewer who approves of a new release is taking bribes didn't help. Cute. Because it's clearly impossible for someone to enjoy a new game on its own merits or - heavens above! - enjoy things that you don't.

Urrgh."

Never said it was impossible to enjoy new games, there are plenty I have enjoyed but in terms of their music it does not measure up! go groan in someone else's thread you thrice damned narn.

lol come back to this thread and gets spammed by console and anime fan-boys with their VGA beeping electric guitar music.

I will say that the Batman Arkham Asylum really was great music, Total Annihilation yes forgot that one and will admit that should of been up there thanks for reminding me. I also was considering battlefield 1942 music.

Oh and if you would to say I am an self-opinionated prick by all means, I enjoy reading some of the lines you come up with.

I sound like Elton John?

Not quite sure where you're going with this, but go on...

lol i meant the music for the civ 4 game you posted. that baba yetu ya mentioned

I think there might be a strange communication breakdown between your ears and your brain if you think that sounds like Elton John.

My most memorable game soundtrack is the one from Deus Ex - fits perfectly with the theme and setting of the game, is almost Vangelis-y in moments, really dig it.

Quake anyone?

Elton john did the lion king music, and I said that the Civ 4 Track that you posted sounded like the Circle of Life, compare the two

No Ozar Midrashim? Forshame.

Trolling? Really?

Your 3rd sentence says "At least give me feedback" and the first person to do so you call a troll?

This thread is missing substance and masterpiece.

The Halo music is something to be put at the top 10. Say what you like about the actual games them selves, but the music, BY FUCKING FACT, is famous for its orchestral implementation into its franchise.

For some reason some of my favourite soundtracks are from MMO's, WoW and LotRO to be precise.
Some good ones:

Edit: Pretty sure I'm doing something wrong, can someone tell me how to properly place Youtube videos here? Hell, how do I get any posting options visible at all?

Ah yes, this is quite clearly a "real" top 10. Anyone else who picks a different top 10 has obviously been paid off by executives to promote their various games.

Anyway, here's my top 10, which can change extremely quickly (obviously because I'm a big gaming executive slut)

Jynthor:

You put [youtube= and then the random assortment of numbers and letters in afterwards. So for example, the first track that you posted would be (without the spacess [ youtube = V88CFeJSlC8 ]

One of my favourite MMO tunes was actually from SW:TOR (though a bit short tbh), which I didn't like altogether as a game:

Although I very much liked this one (though I liked pretty much nothing else about Cata):

I actually had bits of this in my head for days after originally playing through this zone. That bit that goes bi-doop-bup-bi-doop-bup-bi-dooh. Brings me back... am I sad?

The Madman:

Ryotknife:
cant think of any great music from fps or rts (red alert series maybe)

....

But there are sooooooo many amazing rts soundtrack out there. Seriously, the genre is notorious for its excellent music.

Aww, so close! I always preferred

... and no it has absolutely nothing to do with the Creeping Barrages *cough*
ok, maybe a litte...

Seriously though, I think this thread is gonna suffer greatly from the fact that these lists are going to be really subjective. I for one, do not agree with any of the OP's choices... xD

Much appreciated, sir.

My personal favorites, in order:
Always gets me pumped for a fight, I occasionally let the fight run long just to listen to this, hell, I even sing along to it, I just wish the characters would stop announcing everything that happens in the battles, it always interrupts the chorus

Frog is probably my favorite character of the game, this music made me want to salute him day in, day out

Finally, nothing says "I got you now you son of a bitch!" like this one

Edit: Also what is up with the OP? None of his quotes seem to make any sense to what he's quoting and all he is doing is insulting everyone

I saw no Longest Journey/Dreamfall on there. Therefore the list is not complete.

Lol, I didn't post anything dude.

Other than being obviously African influenced, the two sound nothing alike.

Nice top 10 list, however music is definately personal preference more than anything. Here is 10 random pieces of music from games with no particular ordering. Wow, these nostalgia glasses are great!

I76! Ahhh I may have overloaded on nostalgia...GOG help me! Certainly the greatest auto-vigilante spoken word poetry in any game ever...

Hey Taurus, how about a poem?

Looking out the window of your room onto a wet rainy day
Main street under a slate gray afternoon sky
The light on your face is soft and dim under the lace curtain
And the streets are empty
In the distance, there is a flash and a rumble
Clouds sail the sky like giant wooden ships
On a blackened evergreen sea
Capped with foam

...Nice...

Beaten to the punch, Steve Vai did a great job of performing that middle one.

there's a lack of

Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy
Mega Man
Metal Gear
Guilty Gear
Shin Megami Tensei
Seiken Densetsu
Actraiser
Castelvania

and several dozen other games with tracks that out shine this list
my suggestion: get out more

Where's the Fake Top 10 Gaming Music Tracks please?
I full agree with Monkey Island!

I'm only gonna pick one game per series.
10. Tetris
9. Modern Warfare 2 (best part of the game IMO. Hans Zimmer did a fine job)
8. Shining Force
7. Jazz Jack Rabbit
6. Halo 3
5. Minecraft (I love the quiet piano music. Puts me at ease while delving into caves)
4. Assassin's Creed 2
3. Mass Effect 2 (barely edges out Mass Effect 3)
2. Oblivion (barely edges out Skyrim)
1. Wind Waker

This. The Halo soundtracks are fucking outstanding, some fantastic tracks in there, and the main theme just oozes epic.

Personally, I'd like to put forward the main theme from the Legacy of Kain series.

As well as Metal Gear Saga

That and this is one of my favorite FF tracks beyond the obvious ones.

Anyone who doesn't have Metal Gear Solid in their post loses.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjNTog7Aljc - Getsu Fune in X3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_oW6AOXkdE - Speedball 2 on the Amiga

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6ee5KzI9NA - Super Locomotive - Yellow Magic Orchestra pretty much defined Japanese game music imo.

Secret of Mana is still my favourite game OST though.

Feedback doesn't say "your list is invalid" that is trolling you might as well just say my list is shit because you dont like it... No example of why, so please actually understand what trolling is before coming up posting lame rebuttals.

Also that Soul Reaver track is Saucome (sauce on top of awesome) will be adding it to my own personal mix.

My number one choice Myth, Was composed by none other than the same Author Martin Odonel I think his name is. The Easter egg in halo with the song track seige of madrigal is originally from Myth the fallen lords and not Halo.

the mgs 3 snake eater theme, instantly takes all places for casually yet overtly being played during the worlds longest ladder

since i'm in that kinda mood now I'll expand on my early post.

the follow my or my not be timeless classics, but they are on my MP3 player, so i listen to them the most. which means a hell of a lot more far as I'm concerned then it just being good, also, there's no order to this list.

Spritzey:

The Ladder - Quite clearly the most difficult boss in video game history.

I take it you haven't played Shadow Of The Colossus and Total Annihilation. Sorry, I can't take your list seriously when you don't put strong melody's in and say 'real'.

I do appreciate it though, I always look through it all to see if I'm missing something.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSrV5--cua8 - Still the most powerful melody I've heard from a game.

I dont get it, out of ten songs , Baldurs gate intro in particular or arcanum you still think they are not powerful enough?

i don't know them all, but CoMI was definitely a great pick.

You mentioned Curse of Monkey Island...I immediately go to Youtube to listen to the music :P

Such a good game...brings back memories!

Not going to bother to link songs, but in my entire life, I've purchased three game soundtracks (that didn't come as part of the package with a CE). Final Fantasy X, Ocarina of Time, and Katamari Damacy. I'd also offer GitarooMan and Bust-A-Groove as having awesome soundtracks, which I would gladly buy if I could find them.

brutal legend.

Any Amiga fans?
