lol nice amiga tunes you got there, xenon 2 my fav out of those
Mario Galaxy's waltz music was pretty awesome
9. Modern Warfare 2 (best part of the game IMO. Hans Zimmer did a fine job)
No matter how much I bash the COD games, I will gleefully agree to say that MW2 had quite a good soundtrack.
OT: Not exactly a list but
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's music was done by Amon Tobin, one of my favorite DJs, and it's excellent.
I also liked the Quake 1 soundtrack by Trent Reznor, and I really liked the Doom 64 soundtrack. I preferred the creepy ambience in that one over the heavy metal MIDIs in Doom 1 and 2.
I take it you haven't played Shadow Of The Colossus and Total Annihilation. Sorry, I can't take your list seriously when you don't put strong melody's in and say 'real'.
I do appreciate it though, I always look through it all to see if I'm missing something.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSrV5--cua8 - Still the most powerful melody I've heard from a game.
I dont get it, out of ten songs , Baldurs gate intro in particular or arcanum you still think they are not powerful enough?
Huh, for some reason I wasn't notified.
They're good, but having a whole orchestra make something sound epic doesn't improve the power of the melody.
Any Amiga fans?
Shadow of The Beast
Amiga! So many great memories! I still have Shadow of The Beast in my mind. Amazing! I'd also add Lemmings fun soundtrack and Bloodmoney intro and soundtrack.
Flashback was a killer game. So much better than all the crappy imitations coming out today - Braid, Vessel, Trine etc
Unbelievalbe that I'd be the first one (on the third page no less) to mention Bastion.
Bastion tends to be rated top dog in Music otherwise...
Personally OP, you seem to be taking this list way too seriously. That first comment, really? ALl he's saying that your list should have some Chrono in it. Nothing else. It wasn't trolling, it was his opinion and a joke. He's not actually stating your list is invalid. You have your own opinion, he's just giving his.
Anyway, I haven't played all that many games, but I'll give some soundtracks I really love.
Not in any order:
There are a bunch more, but they just aren't springing to mind at the moment, probably haven't played them in a while. I might add to the list later when I have more time.
I'll throw a few out there:
The Deus Ex UNACTO theme. The whole game is full of epic music but this one I think is just the best.
My favourite from Majora's Mask
And I love this track from Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. So atmospheric and intense. Love it.
And finally my personal favourite from all the wonderful music in the Fallout series:
I'm sorry but the Baldurs gate theme Trumps the Myth II theme.
I will literally have the main menu of Baldurs gate open for half an hour before I start playing I love it that much >.<
sniff sniff, I smell a PC gamer
Since it'd be pointless to try and name the ten best songs in games (assuming it's original only we're talking about, otherwise I'd just be linking to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater music all day), I'm just gonna name my favourites, and I don't care whether it's over or under ten.
Icarus - Deus Ex Human Revolution
Deus Ex Theme - Deus Ex
Nazi Zombies soundtrack - Call of Duty World at War & Black Ops
Mexican Mission, Return To Planet X and Title Screen - Timesplitters 2
Still Alive - Portal
I Am All Of Me, What I'm Made Of, Open Your Heart - Crush 40, Sonic series
Team Fortress 2 Theme - Team Fortress 2
Otherworld, Prologue, JENOVA, Those Who Fight Further, Clash on the Big Bridge, Advent: One Winged Angel - Final Fantasy series
One Final Effort, Greatest Journey, Mjolnir Mix, Blow Me Away, Three Gates, Halo - Halo series
Skyrim theme - Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
...Yup, definitely over ten. That's just a small selection, and it's probably a good thing we weren't including licensed tracks or I'd never have shut up.
sniff sniff, I smell a PC gamer
You'd be correct. The lack of any console game music is telling.
Also this was a post he made lately in a thread about people's fave consoles...
You be the judge.
Here is my pure console version of a biased top 10 game tracks (to which I'm not self-important enough to call the "real top 10").
