Skyrim DLC: Crossbows and Snow Elves? (Rumour) Pages 1 2 3 4 5 6 NEXT
So the two most annoying fucking things in the vanilla game (falmer and vampires) + crossbows. I'll pass.
But crossbows! Crossbows are awesome! D:
Pfffft, fuck the snow elves. The Falmer are nothing but throats in the dark just waiting to be slit! So they lost a war a long time ago and were forced to migrate underground where they got into another war and were forced to go even FURTHER underground...cry me a river then build a bridge and get the fuck over it. Just because your history is full of "we just got our asses kicked!" doesn't give you the right to be pissed off at every literally living above you. It's the same thing with the Forsworn. You fucking lost the rebellion, time to put on your big-boy pants (as opposed to a filthy loin cloth) and become a decent member of society...not a member of some crazy cult worshiping a dead guy (who I killed again, thank you very much) and who apparently has ri-god damn-diculous night vision as you can see a master Sneak with sneak-boosting equipment as though he or she was holding a neon sign saying "This Person Shouldn't Be Here!" :P The vampires, on the other hand, I might be interested in...hope they make a faction/coven for vampires...I think that'd be sweet!
But the Falmer were awesome. =< Annoying at times, but the whole "betrayed by the Dwemer and left to rot underground" thing made me feel quite sorry for them. Even if they were trying to slice me open. A lot.
Thats the thing with Skyrim though, isnt it? All this lore in the background, and yet nothing done with it. The snow elves betrayal is mentioned maybe twice in some book, which is quite a pity.
I agree. I felt so sorry for the Falmer, after I learned what happened to them. Skyrim belongs to them. I swear this game, really needs some 'elven revenge' DLC, I'm sick of being made to care for,and 'save' those unwashed, ignorant Nords. I want DLC that let's me help the Thalmore win. >_>
It's quite common with Bethesda games though - a lot of promise, a lot of lore and background work, but a lot of potential awesomeness left unplayed.
Just be grateful its not more Drauger and snake/bird/whale puzzles
Whats funny is that most of the big lore in the Es series is done by a guy who hasn worked at Bethesda for over a decade. Michael Kirkbride was the man who practically wrote Morrowind and he left shortly before it came out, and although he left he and Bethesda are still on good terms and they get him to write stuff for him.
Yep. That's cool. | |
Crossbows when done right are awesome, I love the raw power you feel from a crossbow bolt as opposed to a regular bow
We know, you post that in every damn fantasy related thread you come across.
Whats funny is that Skyrim DOESNT belong to the falmer It has been stated in several sources that all of humanity was born on the throat of the world at the dawn of time, humans were the first real inhabitants of skyrim.
How about a shout that gives me the V.A.T.S. from Fallout 3+ now that would be great, call it dragon eye shout or whatever.
VATs is dumb and should be removed from existance
I love Skyrim, but at this point it's almost like half the people who played it have moved on.
because...? OT:I find this information to be most pleasing.
From what I remember of my brief stay on the Bethesda forums, almost all TES fans would agree with you, sir. Now back to speculation. Maybe they're calling them Snow Elves instead of Falmer because this is a group of uncorrupted Falmer? Could turn out decent or very lame. I trust Bethesda though, they've had a lot of time to work on this. And I really have to respect them for not bombarding us with DLC from day one. Yeah I'm looking at you, you greedy bastards.
I think the snow prince is just a falmer that's less mutated then the rest. I wouldn't be surprised if they pick the least mutated falmer to be thier king.
Its dumb becuase you might as well open up the console and type TGM TGM is toggle god mode
I always hated crossbows. They take too long to load :P OT: Dunno, snow elves are meh, I wasn't really drawn into vampirism in Skyrim (I might give it a go on my next playthrough sometime) and... yeah, not seeing enough there for now. Couldn't people somehow copy/paste crossbows through the Workshop?
I'm going to guess you are not really into delving into the background info. Which you really need to do in games like these. There is a lot of lore floating around in random conversations, books, and side quests. To answer your question: They wouldn't because they are one and the same, or at least they were them in the past. Yes it is mentioned more than once in the game as well.
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Atmora Also, keep in mind that there are quite a lot of files in even base skyrim that aren't used. For example, the model of the imperial city is in there, but it isn't used at all.
I got it from Michael Kirkbride series lore writer. trust me kid, there's a lot of lore UESP doesn't have.
No, humans came to Skyrim on a boat from some shit continent even farther north. Everyone is quite open about this. Hell, The Companions trace their heritage back to the leader of those first settlers, Ysgramor. Way back when, Skryim was elf land--as was most of Tamriel. Humans just pinched it.
You are aware most of what people tell you in the game is outright wrong? Furthermore Michael Kirkbride, series lore writer, has stated himself that the nords come from snow-throat. the true histories have been lost in lies and propaganda. Just as Talos was really Hjalti of High Rock, just as Pelinal was a time travel, just as Lorkhan is Talos is Sithis is Akatosh.
I say this a lot about the ES series, but thats either the stupidest or the smartest thing I have ever heard. I wouldn't consider anything said in Skyrim outright wrong, what with all the revisionisom that goes on in the ES series. On the other hand, having multiple contradicting accounts of an event, such as how Nords came to Skyrim, does add a lot of depth and mystery to the world. Still, maybe youve got to accept that some people just dont care as much about ES as you do.
I know they dont. I was just pointing it out. The ES lore is so deep, complex, and full of contradictions that are correct BECUASE they are contradictions its madness. gods are other gods who kill the other god. It is a world of impossibility that cannot work by its own rules yet that is exactly why it does.
Do not call me "kid". I have done nothing to earn that kind of rude patronisation. It is cleary stated in the games that men came from Atmora and that the elves ruled over skyrim beforehand. "The Nords belive that Kyne breathed life into them on the throat of the world" yes, yet you have misunderstood. "Men" and "Nords" are two different groups. Bretons and Imperials also are also "men". As with most games, ultimately the games decide the lore. No matter whatever the writer said.
How about the ability to actually MAKE arrows?
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/nu-mantia-intercept All mortal life started on the starry heart of Dawn's beauty, Tamriel." The cryo-nords who went north became the Nords, those who went south and west, became the Nedes and Bretons, then when the Nords came back they bred with the Nedes and made imperials.
To be frank, none of this excites me. Sure, it may be interesting to find out the whole story regarding the Snow Elves and their transformation in to the Falmer but I don't care about vampires and I'll take a bow over a crossbow any day.
Give me hand crossbows and spears, and I'll play no other game for three months. As is, crossbows would be pretty awesome.
As would fletching. I hate having to resort to my endless stockpile of Ancient Nord Arrows whenever my decent ammo is depleted...
Maybe Bethesda will finally have the balls to actually say what happened to the Dwemer in the games themselves. They already explained what happend to them in a outside game source a 6-7 ago and have just been using the Dwemer to draw people in with "mysteriousness" while leaving clues no one but the people who already know will get. But then again that's about as likely as them coming out and finally saying akatosh is Lorkhan.......
Maybe that's being 'saved' for TES6? TES6: Underground A game so deep and dark the MC cuts themselves to feel.

According to someone who's dredged the latestest patch, there are hints towards the first DLC having something to do with the Snow Elves (Falmer), some Vampire stuff and the potential return of crossbows.
Apparently we might be getting a taste of the first pack at some point next week so time will tell whether this is actually the case. But if it does turn out that these do feature in it, I'm pretty excited. I've found the tale of the Falmer to be a quite a sad and interesting one and it'd be nice to get some more background/advance it in someway.
Also crossbows. =3
