I like Call Of Duty Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 NEXT
It's not a big deal...I like Call of Duty too and so do lots of people... Its very good and there is nothing wrong with it... I wish people would just leave CoD alone and admit it does what it sets out to do; be silly fun...
I like CoD as well. And I can kinda get where the OP is coming from, given this site's blattant distaste towards the game and its community.
No worries, I like Nazi zombies.
| |
I like COD. Maybe it's me, but I like high-speed action that makes you a one man army against legions of others trying to kill you. And its low entry barrier was something I liked. Of course, I like to rent these things before I throw actual money on this shit, especially in the era of releasing unfinished games & expecting the shit to get patched on day one. If anything, Call of Duty's success kinda reminds me of Counter-Strike in a way: mostly asshole-grade community, relatively easily accessible, and still has some fun with things outside of multiplayer (Survival mode anyone?)
I play Call of Duty, I like MW2, but I don't like Call of Duty as a whole. I'm hooked on Valkyria Chronicles atm though, so all shooters can go to hell :D
Damn you sir, now i want tuna XD Captcha: Nap time... Well, I guess it is then
That's nice. I hate what it has become because of Activision has done to it but if you still want to buy it that is your money once a year not mine.
Yeah...And? | |
And I like Final Fantasy XIII. But I don't need to make a thread declaring it to the entire internet.
Again, so what? I'm guilty of purchasing nearly anything that vaguely feels like an adventure game, regardless of its quality. It's just a personal preference of mine. I like to scan for pixels onscreen and to give myself an afternoon's worth of trouble trying to get things like the Blade Runner game to run properly on Windows 7. Is that a crime? So honestly, don't pay attention to both sides of the fence and you'll be much better off. On one end you've got supposed neckbeards claiming that anyone who plays CoD can't possibly be a decent gamer, while you've got alleged frat boys and casual types who consider CoD to be God's gift to Mankind and every vaguely casual first-person game to be mind-blowingly awesome. It's much easier to deny both sides of the fence and stick by your opinion. Otherwise, you're succumbing to the temptation of slinging mud in the faces of other people who don't really deserve the effort you might put into being derogatory. You're also better off dropping the expectation that saying "I like Call of Duty!" on a forum will get you swathed in hateful and misinformed comments. Give people some credit.
Meh, cod is ok, I don't get to eat it very often though. I'm not too much of a fish guy, but when I do eat it, it's usually salmon.
I do enjoy the lack of sweeping generalizations that are stuffed into every other thread besides this one. For those saying shit like "yea whatever don't care", you're not fooling anyone. You know exactly what kind of posts the OP is refering to that would prompt him to make this thread. The ones that are prevalent around 90% of this website. The ones similar to what Anthraxus posted that got him suspended (obviously without the inflammatory language.) And CoD's not the only one. I'm almost tempted to make a thread saying "I like EA. And not Valve" and wonder how many of you will tip toe around the point.
Same, I like CoD. They're great games just to sit down and play.
And I like FFVII and JRPGs not that there is anything to hint towards that on my profile but I don't make a thread about loving FF VII or JRPGs like it is a big deal. Nor do I feel hard done by by the opinions of some people on this site. Why should CoD be any different? Also what is stopping you from making that thread?
Which Call of Duty? I ask this because, in my mind, there are two different CoD's. Modern Warfare and the good series with Black Ops and World at War. I like playing Call of Duty also, many people do, that's what it's made for, people yo enjoy it.
And with the reveal of another COD we have more hate and anti hate topics about it. (Enjoy it escapist users, its going to last longer than the Skyrim topics) But anyway, thats fine, you like Call of Duty. I like it a bit as well, everyone is allowed to like something, even if its Twilight or Lair or that turd of an adaptation of Avatar The Last Airbender. And so what if a lot of people really hate a community, I recall a blue pony once saying thats just like your opinion dude. (People hate bronies as well, everybody gets some sort of hate) I think I went off topic a bit.
ITT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c While it's true that many people on this forum hate the recent Call of Duty games, most people don't really have any reason to care if you personally like it, especially since you haven't done anything like make objective statements that it's the best game ever or something. Even if someone did take issue with it, there's not much they could say in this thread. You haven't made any arguments defending CoD, so there's nothing they can argue against. All you've said is that you like it. What are they going to say in response? "No you don't like CoD?"
OP here, this was a stupid thread to make. sorry guys i must have been all butthurt when i wrote this. Just casually abanding this thread. Also BO2 looks alright
I don't like the Dutch. | |
Aaaaaand [/thread]. What was the point of this thread?
I think you just helped me figure out why I have grown to not like the CoD franchise but had a love for MW. Besides the obvious one where I hated what I had become swearing at the screen every two seconds since MW2 on.
The original MW was just so pure. It required MUCH more skill to be good at it than these more recent games. As I said, this is quite specifically due to the fact that the recent games have gone nuts with the killstreaks. "Not good enough to kill your way to a chopper as you'd have to be in the MW? Well don't worry, we'll give you a perk that makes killstreaks 1 kill cheaper. On top of that we'll give you damn good killstreaks for getting 2, 3, and 4 kills!"
I remember my first time through all I did was snipe so getting my kill streaks up high was pretty damn hard but I loved it. Just sitting in one spot setting up my claymores for defense and then just shooting people. So the low kill streaks I could get on for sniping but adding in the nuke was just ridiculous as well as a lot of other ones. I also got adding in high kill streak rewards because some people just didn't get killed often. But the kill streaks did get ridiculous and have killed a lot of the fun I had with MW2. I actually have never bought a CoD game I got them as gifts or my brother has bought them.
Seriously, thanks to carepackages and hardline, you're more likely to get killed by a killstreak than another actual player shooting you, and that's why I quickly grew tired of the CoD franchise.
And I do not. Pistols at dawn?
That's a pretty faulty generalisation. Just because you don't see Cod games worthy of their price tag doesn't mean the fans don't either and that they have to "bend over backwards". I for one get more bang for my buck with most Cod games than almost any other game I've ever bought. They're pretty much second only to the Elder Scrolls games. The map pack prices are ridiculous, sure, but I go splitsies with a friend and end up paying only about 6 euros for the ones we decide to buy. Most people hate Cod and everyone who supports it because they think Cod is responsible for the current state of the genre. Here's a newsflash: it isn't. If others decide to copycat Cod it's completely their own choice and therefore their fault if you don't like their games. Cod is not to blame even though it has indirectly influenced other games, so save your hatred.
I really don't give a shit about what you like. I'm sorry if you expected me to care but I don't. You're free to like whatever you feel like liking.
I think you don't even know it's not called the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise. There were at least three games in the series before Solid came out. I hear, even from skeptics, that the earlier Call of Duty games were good (I think 1-4: Modern Warfare), and Black Ops 2 might be something I'd like to at least look at. So, I'll have to check these out, sometime. Oddly enough, you pointing out yourself in your fandom is a lot like the fandom that calls themselves "bronies". Much like Portal or Call of Duty, there are the intelligent people that enjoy it for what it is, and there are those who only "like" it, because it's popular, and so they can form unoriginal "jokes" over and over again using one line from a single installment in the series. I like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, myself, but, I don't think I'd call myself a "brony". And I certainly don't go shoving it in somepo- ...someone's face.
No, Activision treats their fans horribly. Especially on PC, I can't believe there are people that will put up with - and pay - Activision port after shoddy port, the stripping-out of announced features (and the balls to charge full price for map packs anyway!)... Activision are shit dudes, they don't care for you or the franchise, they butchered their most well-payed development house and didn't even give them the time to recover before going on with Modern Warfare 3 like it didn't even happen! "Getting your money's worth" and "bending over backwards" aren't mutually exclusive. It could be the biggest game of the year with hundreds of hours of content; it doesn't change the fact that Activision treats you like walking wallets. It doesn't change that they get away with nickel and diming their fans. It doesn't change that they butcher their development houses and expect everyone to just roll along with it. It's unfortunate, because the fans are dedicated people who genuinely enjoy the franchise - that Activision isn't pulling out all stops to please them is a massive oversight when companies like Valve exist that put the customer first and profits second.
Every business sees us as walking wallets. Some just try to hide it because they think that's more profitable for them. You can't really compare Activision to Valve anyway. Other is a developer and other is only a publisher. Of course developers priority is more towards creating a great gaming experience while publisher only aims for profit. Activision has the ability to make Cod evolve as much as it wants and charge as much as it wants because Cod basically has monopoly in it's sub genre. There's really no competition that can be taken seriously. I agree that what Activision is doing is bullshit but hey it's not like other game companies didn't put them in the situation where they can get away with anything. ps. I don't understand why anybody would play Cod on PC. Pretty much all it ever had going for it was 60 fps and overall smooth and polished gameplay unrivaled on consoles but on PC games like Battlefield 3 are technically superior in pretty much every way.
Activision hired Oliver North, a.k.a. the guy behind the whole Iran-Contra Affair, giving weapons to post-revolution Iran for the release of Hostages and funding Guerrilla fighters in Nicaragua who had their own share of crimes against humanity by indiscriminately attacking civilians, raping women, torturing and killing civilians including children and a slew of other charges. they hired this guy to promote Call of Duty. http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2012/05/02/oliver-north-is-selling-call-of-duty-black-ops-2/ Activision hires a guy that actively dealt with terrorists illegally, who by all accounts should of been sent, and still reside in prison, to promote their game which you like. seems legit.
Nothing wrong with liking COD It's liking COD exclusively that gets to me and acting like its the best thing ever when you have never played any other game.
Game developers need to relise if they want to take Cods crown they have to offer something DIFFERENT! not copy it.. was there a halo killer ? no, but the entire dev community tried Halo did its own thing as did wow, it carved its own path in the genre and was never beaten head on due to everyone else followed in its rut instead of making there own paths. The gaming community does not mind imitation when its in a set franchise ( CoD imitates itself every time, but people WANT it to play the same)
I will say that I like most of them myself as well. For some reason I couldn't get much in to MW3 however, though I will probably give it another try soon since beating Witcher 2 has caused me to run out of new games for now... Unless I want to do another playthrough

I like tuna! I also like Call of Duty, but I enjoy tuna in comparison to other foods of a comparable price and nutritional value more than I enjoy Call of Duty in comparison to other video games of a similar price and genre. Not that they're in any way comparable. But do you know what the name of the bread was? I'm always on the lookout for new taste sensations.
