Heh, I doubt you would understand... Yukiko is just plain better than Chie. I mean, how would you ever survive in combat without her mad healing skills and epic magic stats? Chie is just above average until she learns God Hand, Yukiko is pure gold the whole game. And her Persona is the coolest! Not to mention that her character arc is totally awesome (that could be said for the entire cast but shut up!) Come on, can Chie's boyish charm really and truly hold up to the womanly wiles of Yukiko? I don't think so... I just have a thing for long haired girls with glasses, is that so wrong?!
Nobody's voting on the Kid? Well, I guess in terms, Rucks is the entire life of Bastion's story, and his voice is nigh parallel to Morgan Freeman's. The entire tone he establishes creates the game itself; for without him telling the story, it'd just be the Kid running about.
Ratchet is the character I can never hate, and I grew up with him and I'll be sad when the series is brought to a close. Honorable mentions go to:
Without a doubt the greatest video game character of all time. Equal parts Albert Einstein, Sherlock Holmes, and Jason Bourne, he still manages to be wholly unique thanks to a distinct personality, some brilliantly funny dialogue, amazing voice acting by Michael Beattie, deep character development, and a powerhouse of an emotional arc.
He might not be quite as original an invention as Mordin, but there's no denying that the friendship he develops with Shepard - and the player by extension - is unmatched throughout gaming. I think all the votes he's already received reflect that. What he lacks in originality and character conflict, he more than makes up for with a meaningful bond, some very clever dialogue, and superb delivery by his VO Brandon Keener. Mordin is the only video game character I can think of that might deserve acclaim outside of the video game industry for being everything a character traditionally ought to be. Garrus is on the other end of the spectrum; many of the qualities that make him so great are a direct result of the unique way in which video games can interact with players... not just the other way around. Honourable mentions: Kerrigan, Queen of Blades from SC/BW. Great arc, great writing, great voice acting by Glynnis Talken. A very memorable antagonist.
I'm not certain...but I think I'm going to go with John Marston. He's a deeply flawed person, but easy to relate to, and he meets a tragic, but inevitable, end.
No question An intelligent character with believable faults, they don't treat Phoenix as some macho super duper hero and everything rests on his shoulders. He's just sort of a normal guy. He's one of the only video game characters I would buy a beer (I mean okay, there are a few women I might send a drink to, but I mean really sit down and have a beer with...if they were real of course)
Yukiko? Better? Because of healing skills? And a cooler Persona? Don't make me scoff. HA! Teddie is obviously superior because he has all of the higher level healing skills and Mabufudyne. Not to mention he also has a Persona that looks like it sprouted legs and ran away from a gay-pride parade. So that makes him the super fabulous version of Chie and Yukiko combined. No argument pass this point. We were both wrong.
There is a few... Garrus Vakarian - He's like Space Batman...except a Turian Delita Hyral (Final Fantasy Tactics) - The Guys goes from Commoner to King and turns into a badass along the way!!
Half the cast of the Mass Effect Trilogy + Ezio Auditore are all tied in first. Yes I know it's a cop out but I literally just can't choose.
Gordon Motherfucking Freeman. And yes, that IS his middle name.
The Majora's Mask version in particular. He wears masks and doesn't afraid of anything. And has a very smug smile while horseback riding, apparently. Obviously these are not actually the reasons I like him. I like him because he is very blank and allows the player a lot of imagination. On second thought...
Either Captain Price or Lee from The Walking Dead.
Although the Kid/Rucks fall under the Garrus end of things in my post - their greatness, if it is as good as that of the best of literature or TV, is not simply "as good," it is [b]different[/b in all the ways that video games are different - I really think of them more as an extension of the Bastion world than individual characters. And on that note, I would gladly defend Bastion as one of the best video game worlds. Already have, in fact. :)
My Fallout 3 character. He can charm a guy so he won't kill himself. Also did I mention he can kill a Deathclaw only with a hunting rifle or a hunting shotgun and take no damage. Yeah no wonder he could survive all them things. Honorable mentions Chie From Persona 4
Always something of a savior of mine.
I'll only ever consider save-scumming in JA2 if Grunty buys it...so...Ja, das ist Grunty. Honorable mentions go to Cate Archer and the big fella here...
I'm not going to pick anyone who's in a Bioware game, because that would just be unfair to everyone else. So, I'm going to go with Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the charming, yet tragic Italian Assassin whose name is the most pleasurable thing that anyone can say. Seriously, just try saying it.
47. He's a complicated guy who thinks himself simple. I've always loved the idea that someone like 47 is the best thing in a world filled with the worst scum imaginable. Plus, David Bateson does a god-tier job at the VO.
Are we sharing again!?! After the all round wonderfulness that is Garrus, I have to go Cole and Zeke from InFamous and Ezio from AC. All wonderful, dreamy guys!
I'm going to go with Delta and Omega squad from Republic Commando
Mega Man. a humble cleaning robot who volunteered to become mega man to save humanity from the persistent, resourceful, and very evil dr. wily. starts out outgunned, slower and smaller than most of the robots and dangers he faces only to turn his enemies powers against them to ultimately defeat dr. wily and bring him to justice over and over again. Runner up: Gordon Freeman
Kain off Legacy of Kain | |
Here is my favorite videogame character!
0_o Um... On topic: I know, computer, but that personality chip of hers is amazing.
Vivec, a magical, hermaphroditic, bug-armor wearing, god, who exists in multiple parallel universes, and has a bible with actual magic strewn through it. He has achieved CHIM, the ultimate understanding of the universe, he realizes he is everything, and everything is him, yet still has the ability to say "I AM". He can alter any part of the world at his leisure, he can erase anyone from existence that he so desires, and if he is killed he can simply bring himself back to life at a whim.
| |
I would overall probably go with Revan. He/She has a very interesting story of redemption. (Canon Story anyhow)
Anyone who can say - 'I'm gonna take you out, and I don't mean for pizza' and keep a straight face is a hero as far as I'm concerned. Plus he's got the world's least badass hairdo. Any of this lot. I do feel a small amount of shame... And last but not least, my first ever game crush: I'm still mourning the loss of my Dreamcast!
this a close runner up has to go to alistair
| |
Guybrush Theepwood since he's funny, Samus Aran cos she kickass (ignoring Another M) and Travis Touchdown since he's awesome.
Wadda ya mean Um...! I'm a woman (you know one of those things rarely seen around here) so I can find them dreamy!
A tie between Garrus Vakarian and
I think my very favourite is this guy: He has a great personality, and is an incredible badass that smashes monsters over the head with chars and desks to boot. Then there's also General Bryant from Renegade Ops: Just because his dialogue is the cheesiest in the history of cheesy dialogue, with some extra cheese.
I have several. Altair from assassin's creed 1, Kratos(only from the first game), Klonoa from Klonoa 2: Lunetea's Veil(that was the only one i played) and Amaterasu
Kain and Raziel from the soul reaver series, two of the best characters of the PS2 generation.

To many to pick.....everyone from the halo games is my favorite.
Whew...dodged a bullet there.
