Better online multiplayer. I can guarantee that if Brawl's online component was more then a tacked on 2 minute match, I'd still be playing it today. No tripping. Tripping was the stupidest thing ever. No Final Smashes. They wouldn't be so bad, but some characters *cough*Sonic&StarFox*cough* have Final Smashes which are just so much better than any other character's. Amaterasu and Viewtiful Joe :D
Same mechanics (or at least familiar) as Melee's, use of Gamecube controller or hopefully something just as good, no fucking tripping, some of the strategies back like side-dodge and less focus on cinematics so everything else works perfectly (I just want the game play and design better this time). This would probably be enough for me to buy the WiiU.
Leon Kennedy, used similar to Solid Snake, but lighter, with a RE4 stage. Extra points if you can pick the suit as an alternate costume. Shit was pimp.
Balanced Final Smashes. Seriously, some were ridiculously overpowered. A good online multiplayer mode. I mean, isn't multiplayer the main selling point of SSB? More characters/ improved characters (Give Mario his spin attack back!). Surprise me. And please, stop it with the same character in a different (heavier) jacket. Fox, Falco and Wolf had basically the same moveset and the same final smash.
Personally, in terms of characters there should be 1st Party 3rd Party Characters. - Geno (not as a fanboy thing, but mostly because of how much involvement Nintendo has had with Square Enix, with the assistance of translating IX, releasing a few Sports games and even Fortune Street) I highly doubt Dragon Quest characters would be considered in a main release Nintendo game, mostly due to Akira Toriyama's involvement with the art, making people feel that his characters would be there due to the more widely known Dragonball series. (and it's sequels Z and GT)
I would really like items and weapons, as well as level hazards, to become more important to the game and metagame as a whole. I always felt they were what set SSB apart from other, stronger fighting game entries, and it always pains me to see people insist on playing without them on boring levels because it makes it "more legitimate". Seriously people, just embrace the chaos and have fun with a series that was never meant to be like other fighting games. As for characters, Fawful, I guess? Also Isaac/Felix from Golden Sun, and an Advance Wars rep. Also, don't be afraid to go for characters who don't use the standard sword/gun weapon set. The wackier the better!
The WiiU doesn't support Gamecube controllers, which makes me really worried for Smash Bros. I hate the PS/Classic Controller control stick layout with a passion. Also I'll be happy as long as it's less floaty and you can actually combo again. Trying to hit someone more than once in Brawl was a liability more often than not.
Raichu! My favorite Pokemon! Pikachu and Pichu were in it, give Raichu his time in the spotlight! Travis Touchdown! The number 1 otaku assassin! If Raichu gets in, I'll be in heaven, If Travis gets in, I'll be ecstatic, If BOTH get in...faint.
No. We need a certain pokemon. The manliest pokemon of them all: Lilligant. OT: I just want it not to suck. Melee I consider the best of all time. Also: Get. Rid. Of. Tripping.
Lilligant can be a support character, Raichu must be made a main fighter! THERE IS NO OTHER WAY?! Also yes, tripping sucks.
A co-op campaign similar to New Super Mario Bros, but as a brawler. The return of a shorter and more fun adventure more. Last but not least, challenge. As for characters, LESSEE SOME SHULK! Saki and Ghirahim are also a must.
I'd love to see some The World Ends With You characters in Smash Bros. I know they're already making an appearance in Kingdom Hearts but I won't be happy until I can beat the shit out of Mario using magical pins. I also want Mewtwo back, didn't like Lucario much. Or maybe they could just replace him with a different pokemon, maybe Gensect or something.
I'm about to tell you something, ready?: Only Nintendo-owned characters can make an appearance. I know you're about to yell Snake and Sonic at me, but Nintendo owns the rights to Twin Snakes as well as a certain amount of Sonic. I think only Capcom characters are the only third party characters that have been announced as a possibility.
Sidenote: Sakurai has stated in an interview that Brawl is closer to how he's wanted the series to handle than Melee. Don't expect that to change If it does, I won't really mind either way. Just sayin'.
That's a shame, I just figured that since TWEWY was on a Nintendo system they could have made an appearance. Oh well.
Continuous character balancing from the developers. Keeps the game fresh and exciting.
Nintendo only gave that game their seal of approval (permission to produce it). They have no ownership. So basically, if it's not Nintendo owned in some, way, shape, or form it's not showing up without an announced deal with the publisher. In this case, Nintendo and Sora Ltd would have to make quiiiite a deal with Square-Enix for a character who really doesn't fit in and would break the immersion. Sorry =\
Megaman and Protoman. I wouldn't mind seeing Bass or Roll. They'd all fit extremely well in SSB, but I imagine Capcom wants to keep that IP locked up tight so they can continue to do absolutely nothing with it.
Better controls than the Wii one, seriously if you didn't have a gamecube controller it was a waste. I'd say we really don't need any more from the zelda or pokemon series, honestly 5 characters from the same series is a little much especially when several are just reskins with slight balance differences. Nintendo has a fairly rich catalog of games why is it that 3 or 4 games dominate half the character select? Personally I'd like to see: Frog - Chrono trigger I'm sure there are more I'd like to see but I'm too lazy to go through old nintendo games
Still waiting to see Mega Man in there... It'd be great if they fixed the Final Smash attacks too. Some of those were just a waste, and didn't even really count as a final attack. Plus whenever a smash ball would appear, it just turned the game into who can grab that first rather than worrying about fighting other people. Removal of the auto-attack would be good too. It's just cheap to sit there and hold down a button. Increasing the projectile range would be good too; stuff like the Mario brothers' fireballs just got short-changed pretty badly. Also, do we really need those water gun attacks?
1. Functioning online multiplayer
That would simply be amazing. Just have to hope that they'd do him well and not do something like give him a terrible voice or the like. (Of course, no matter what voice he might be given, someone's bound to be upset by it...)
All dat potential energy. Just gotta let it build up. Then they'll release another Battle Network game. OT: Megaman, Sora/Riku/King Mickey (Pick one, don't care they're all awesome), Chell (along with a Portal 2 themed stage with GLaDOS and Wheatley doing something in the background), Altair maybe? He'd never get in, but it's nice to dream. ISAAC AND FELIX FROM GOLDEN SUN. Also, like said before: A WORKING ONLINE MULTIPLAYER.
A Fire Emblem character that does not use a sword. Hector, Micaia, or Ephraim, in particular would offer a diffrent play style. I am not sure where Professor Layton's ownership lays, but it would be cool to see him. Even as just a assist. I do hope Capcom will make a deal of some sorts. Leon from RE4, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu and Megaman would be awesome additions.
Same. Mewtwo was a super legendary pokemon from the original and felt more like a complete character since there was only one, he had a distinct personality and he could actually speak (sorta). Lucario? He's number 448, whoop dee doo.
Geno from Super Mario RPG (shutup, let me have this lol) Um...I guess that's all I've got for now. Oh, and of course add a lot more assist characters and Pokemon to the Pokeballs.
I like the ideas of adding Geno, Paper Mario (maybe able to use side characters for assists) and Travis Touchdown (who I previously would have said would be a ridiculously outlandish choice, but after the addition of Snake I just dunno anymore). Yarn Kirby would be interesting, but not something I'd really be excited for.
I agree with you 100% A more in depth level editor would also be nice... would be good to have a Little Big Planet esque type thing instead of the classic block level editor which you get in about every other game out there (N+, Super Meat Boy, Banjo Kazooie N&B to name a few). Also, Hector as a playable character. Fuck Marth, Roy and Ike, I WANT LYN, HECTOR, EIRIKA OR EPHRAIM! ahem... sorry about that... A new subspace type campaign would also be nice (though stay with the 0 voice acting road Nintendo, please don't try and put voice acting in. subspace was epic without it). Edit: And to the poster two posts above me. No Miis, please don't put Miis in Smash Bros, I hate everything about those wretched apparitions.
The only one I can think of (excluding what everyone above me had said) is that there should be less moving stages and more non moving stages but that's just my preference. I want to kick their ass not moving along the stage being afraid of loosing my ground and fall or got knock out to the sides.
RAYMAN. If they add Rayman to the next one, I will love Nintendo forever.
OK, so 2 minute match with no adjustments? Terrible Tripping? Way to introduce luck even while not using items. Final smashes, fun for the first few matches and cool to test out, but not something I thought added anything good to the game. Thank you for pointing out what I wanted to point out so I didn't have to be creative and write it myself. Other than that I just want to be like either Brawl or Melee. I've had great fun with those, why change what works?
Get rid of tripping. Why was that even added? Characters I would like to see: 1) More (varied) Fire Emblem characters. Ephraim would be a beast. I bet any of the mages would be pretty cool. Basically add someone that doesn't exclusively use a sword. 2) Majora's Mask Link. Treat him like Pokemon trainer and allow him to cycle between the Deku, Goron, and Zora masks. Fierce Deity could be the final smash. 3) Pokemon Trainer: Generation III starters. 4) Banjo & Kazooie (I know this is impossible)
I'd also throw in that the physics need to be more like they were in Melee. Brawl was far too floaty and not quite quick enough.
Yeah, I have to agree with that too, I always preferred Melee over Brawl for physics. However it's not a dealbreaker if we get Brawl physics, just a huge plus if we get Melee physics... which sadly isn't likely to happen... :(

Hey guys, with the new Smash Bros coming out in about 3 years or so, what do you think should be added/changed/kept the same?
Personally:
A few more first-party characters (Magnus from KI! Link with Wolf transformation, aswell as Skyward Link instead of the usual Adult/Kid combination)
A couple more third-party characters (With stuff like this, we need to be sensible. Viewtiful Joe? Raiden?)
Longer replays
Improved stage editor
More challenges (Like in Brawl and Kid Icarus)
Character levelling (This is pretty much confirmed)
New levels (Aswell as a load from the previous games. Mario Kart style)
New items (Tanooki suit? Blue shells?)
Some new music (Also, maybe some special Smash Bros remixes?)
New social interaction (Voice chat, invites, sending replays and screenshots)
Streetpass and Spotpass support (Levels, replays, screenshots, like on Brawl)
What else do you guys think?
