For Golden Sun, did you mean Lost Age or Dark Dawn? Lost Age was like Golden Sun Part 2, as it continues and makes connections to it's previous title while exploring a completely new area, gaining new and old abilities, and continuing the story while providing a lot of extra dialogue to make the game it's own. Dark Dawn is like a sequel, as it follows the events that took place in the previous game. Also, it includes many new characters and elements, many of which reference the previous games. In terms of Megaman X6, yes, it is probably the most difficult game in the X series (at almost Megaman Zero difficulty). | |
Oh but the sweet sweet joy you will feel when you get all the items. Its quite miraculous. Also the Fetus in a Jar powerup snaps the game in half. If you get that in the first or second level, be careful and you will basically be guaranteed victory. OT: Tribes Ascend as an infiltrator. Dying to so many random thumper shots, or a single stray bullet that breaks my stealth so that hundreds of turrets turn me into confetti. So much anger...so much rage.. | |
The only game that has ever made me genuinely angry, I'd say it would have to be Captain Forever for the PC. XD Honestly, that is the only game that seriously pisses me off when I play it, but yet I keep coming back to it just because it still is fun from time to time. Sure, I rage quit whenever I notice that the only enemies to advance me are those little fast shooting bastards that seem to always dodge my hits. It's even more annoying when you want their weapons so you feel compelled to try and destroy them with minimal damage to their weapons and engines, but seem to always destroy them by accident. XD I can't think of any other game that has gotten me as mad as that game did. | |

I got a PS3 fairly recently, which came with Uncharted 3 in the pack. I may as well have rubbed salt into my eyes for 9 hours. I was new to the games, so I was expecting the unexpected, but dodgy controls, a 'hammer this button now' melee style, and got to the point where I was thinking if this prick utters the phrase 'this is so not cool' one more time, I'm taking him out and selling him into a life of miserable inexorable slavery. I ended up taking him out and exchanging him for a dragon, which was much less inclined to use sarcasm. | |
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit It was the only Next Gen racing game I was excited for... I'm only glad that I rented it and didn't waste any money on the game. Also Brink. It was set up to be the Console equivalent of Team Fortress 2, I had high hopes for it, there were even a few "Security vs Rebels" threads on the Escapist before it was released... When I finally played it, it was a massive disappointment. | |
Hyperdimension Neptunia. If the non-contextual pop culture references, stupid combat, random-chance healing, repetitive dungeons, copy-pasted textures, low quality graphics, annoying music didn't put you off, then the shameless fanservice will seal the deal. I didn't even buy the sequel because... well, look at the box art and answer me this: could you REALLY take that up to the counter and say "I want to buy this game" while retaining your dignity? | |

Black ops single player is excessively pathetic. I very much enjoyed CoD1&2 and all the Modern Warfare Campaigns, but black ops is just awful on so many different levels. The weapons are wonky, everything feels extremely unpolished. The situations and writing are excessively contrived. But I'm a very hard person to genuinely make mad, and none of that really annoyed me. What annoyed me was that my allies could(and would) stand right out in the open and I would be hiding in the back behind cover. And the entire enemy force would shoot only at me, and entirely ignore the dudes standing out in the open. It made parts of the game excessively hard, stagnated the gameplay, and made absolutely no sense. It is legitimately one of the worst AI design decisions I have ever seen, but hey that's Treyarch for you. | |
Any multiplayer game with automatic matchmaking (lacking a search option with multiple filters) and no LAN or local multiplayer support. Any cover-based shooter with a button-press cover mechanic that glues and unglues you to the wall. Also, any shooter without 1:1 mouse support (which I have used playing Unreal Tournament III on a PS3 before... only console shooter I could ever stand). | |
Yeah that's pretty much the reason I have never bought it. I hate timed games. Personally I think The Witcher is really sexist and it makes me feel kind of ill to play it...I was annoyed that Risen 2 sees fit to follow it's example although I might be able to ignore it I guess :/ | |
Yeah, I agree with this - that game annoyed me too. I wanted to play it as the first was fun, so I rented it....completed it twice in a short amount of time. Starkiller was an extremely unlikable character. Story was awful. Gameplay was quite boring and tedious. The humour was ridiculous and unneeded. Just bleh. Watching my housemate play A1s or online on Soul Calibur is always fun. Bots can read your input and a lot of players spam...but I guess that's the same on any fight game. | |
it's not that bad. there's one for basement, one for caves, one for depths and one for womb, but none for sheol. also they don't stack, so you can take damage in the depths but still get the no womb damage one. that being said, they're all still hard as fuck, as despite being able to clear the base game with all characters, i can't beat sheol at all =[ | |
COH. I always loose my cool playing COH. It's usually something little, like pio-spam that I can't take. Although the ultimate piss me off game just about has to be Star Trek Online, not just because its terrible, not just because the idea behind Star Trek is people being better then people are - something you won't find in an MMO, EVER. But it gets better. They've created a crafting system that is utterly useless, and anything you might find through out the game is basically a throw away. And being so combat oriented as the game is, its impossible to have a nice time flying around in some of the more classic trek ships. Then there's corporate ridiculousness and sales of infinitely useless items. I probably played quite a bit of the game and I tell you I still haven't the foggiest idea of its story line outside of a war between the Klingons and the Federation while both are at war with the Borg. TRIBLE GAME, TRIBLE DESIGN. Oh and painfully obviously in the tradition of Ber Trek. | |

Good games with bad controls. A shitty game I can just set aside and ignore, but good games make me want to play them...and then I have to make this particular maneuver, or do this particular thing and I can't do it because the controls here are just a -bit- unresponsive and it drives me so fucking rage that I could eat my keyboard. | |
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West - the gameplay was just so unnecessarily frustrating and broken. The camera in that game just made me want to Falcon punch my TV. | |
ME2 when I'm trying to access all the DLC that I paid for ON THE XBOX VERSION IT SAYS I NEED TO BE ONLINE TO ACCESS IT!!!...... ahem Duke Nukem forever just made me mad at the fact that a classic 90's FPS became more linear and straight foward than any COD to date. Kane and Lynch 2 because I'm one of the few that actually kinda liked the first one, not all of it, god no it had some pretty bad problems but the bank robbery,donut shootout and tower missions were pretty cool and the sequel is just a mirky ugly turd, that somehow went from IMO an average game with standout moments to a shit game with the only standout moment being the fact that they would insult us with an ending that literally is like someone just turning off your TV. Oh and my manditory complaint dragon age 2 it's being over a month now so I just have to mention it again. | |

Shoot someone in the femoral artery and not only are they immediately out of the fight, they will also die pretty damn quick. Shoot someone anywhere else on the leg with a large enough caliber, and you get the same result. Snipers also piss me off, mind you. | |

YuYu Hakusho: Dark Tournament. A horrid, putrid little title with crap controls, crap hit detection, clips from the show as a vague attempt to add value- or distract from the crap graphics -and their idea of 'variety' is having one fight be winnable only by winning at rock paper scissors multiple times in a row without a single loss. I love anime and fighting games, but that title made me want to take up knitting as a hobby instead. | |
Odd, one time when i tried that he kept shooting arrows until i was close enough to poke him with my spear, in which case he was still shooting at me. I know that they change weapons, its just that sometimes they seem to not feel like it. Speaking of which the times when they changed weapon and ended with me having to poke them to death vastly outnumber the times that they made a fatal backhop. | |
You need a big enough shield so it will knock his attacks back. Plus it also helps if you give him a little nudge with it as well. | |
Im aware of that, ever since greatshields got buffed i use the Eagle Shield, which also happens to be the first greatshield available in the game, the lightest greatshield in the game and the lowest strength requirement of any greatshield so far all at once. Anyway its pretty effective, but it still doesnt ward off all of the knockback, so i make do on the approach by rolling under the arrows, then when i rach the ledge the sniper on the left is blocked from view by a buttress and its pretty much a straight path to the one on the right. All in all though, that section could have been worse. And Smough + Ornsiten and Dark Sun Gwyndolin are definitely worse than they are. | |

Fallout 2 seems perfect for this thread, not because of the game quality, but the constant probabilities can make it pretty rage-inducing when an enemy scores two critical hits on you or when you miss an important attack when your character has a 95% chance of hitting. Now how rarely it happens, it always feels like it shouldn't have happened when it does. | |
Uncharted 3 Multiplayer. Fuck any person that does that cheap "Run at someone firing an Uzi and then hit them once for an instant kill" move. Also fuck anybody that: -Starts jumping and rolling around when you shoot at them making it mind-numbingly hard to hit them | |

Exactly. Black and White 2 is more of a third installment than a sequel, yet they claim that a time lapse constitutes a sequel. Also, including a NationalDex into Gen 5 from the get go kind of undermines the whole point of the previous versions. Also, in Crystal/Emerald/Platinum the Pokedex had a combination of new and older Pokemon in the mix; Black and White was suppose to be 150+ exclusives, at least until you complete the main story.
