I would say Diablo 3 is gonna be my first one, then definitely Torchlight 2. D3 for multiplayer with buds, and TL2 for plain mods and fun. Its not a case where i'll vote though. I will have both | |
The only point I concede to Torchlight over Diablo is the mods, I loved me some fucking mods :) Gave the game so much life, specially the new classes. But still, I do think Diablo is going to be the superior game. Captcha: top ten EDIT: 600th Post! | |
Dont forget you can play Torchlight 2 with your friends on a LAN without having to connect to the internet. That is one of the things I am most looking forward to. Diablo 3 just seems really sad by comparison (in my opinion of course!) | |
I would recommend Torchlight 2 if you had to choose between the two. Of course, I'd recommend buying just about anything but Diablo 3. If you really want Diablo, go play a mod for Diablo 2. | |

Diablo 3. I tried to like Torchlight. I really did. I played it for about 6 hours and by the end, I was trying to find reasons to keep playing. The game just doesn't have the soul that Diablo has (Ironically). I kept finding myself running around going "Why am I doing this?" and eventually I couldn't answer the question and stopped playing. Shame really. | |
I like neither. Diablo III is piss easy, you can play it with one hand and run naked to the first boss on the highest difficulty after 5 mins of playing with 2 players and own it by headbanging your nose at random keys. Torchlight 2 just looks bad. For my hardcore needs, only Path of Exile has the soul of a real ARPG. | |
Personally, getting both. Why? I play Wow, and blizz is giving me D3 for free. | |
Torchlight 2 because I don't think my laptop will run Diablo 3 for very long before committing Seppuku. That and I can't have internet on all the time. | |
I keep waiting for a dungeon crawler to match the dark, gritty atmosphere of Classic Diablo. If there is one, I've missed it. D2 is just too cartoony and bright, not to mention the lack of real challenge. I don't think Torchlight 2 will be what I'm looking for either. | |

Diablo 3. The last Torchlight suffered because it had boring levels and no multiplayer. Torchlight 2 should fix the mutiplayer problem but I don't know about the boring level problem. | |
Also this! Getting D3 free, so I technically already bought it. Love blizz, not a huge fan of activision-blizz, but their story telling is great as always, and although there are more obvious cash grabs, the soul of the game remains very true to its core, and I like that. | |
Not buying either, but if someone handed me some extra cash, still neither, but if they also put a gun to my head and said "you have to buy one of these games," definitely D3. Blizzard anything over a similar non-Blizzard anything 99.5 times out of 100. You're simply guaranteed to get your money's worth. It's going to be a pleasant, polished experience with minimal glitches and minimal frustration. | |
Neither because I am a poor college student. I'm only buying one loot driven game this year and that is going to be Borderlands 2. If I had to choose between the two no matter what I guess I would go with Torchlight 2 because it's cheaper. | |

Diablo 3. No contest at all. Torchlight might be mod-friendly and not have the stupid always online stuff, but its just Diablo 2 with cartoony graphics. In fact, its probably worse than Diablo 2 with cartoony graphics. I got tired of Torchlight 1 pretty fast, and I'd rather be playing Diablo 2 than that. And after trying the D3 open beta...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....Torchlight could have been 1$ and I'd still pick Diablo 3. | |
Torchlight 2 because I'm a cheap bastard, liked torchlight 1, never played Diablo and don't really like blizzard. I'd probably play Path of Exile because it looks fun and is free to play as well. | |

Not fond of clickfest dungeon crawlers... but I'd be more likely to get Torchlight 2. Another thing my roommate is into, and from what I've seen of Torchlight, it's a massive improvement on the Diablo formula. | |
If Torchlight 2 is anythin like Torchlight 1 it'll be crap in comparison to Diablo 3 because Torchlight 1 was a borin snoozefest compared to D2. The only reason it was remotely playable were the mods which, as with all mods, were mostly miss with some hit. Seriously. The first Torchlight was a horribly bland version of Diablo 2 with all the actual fun bits takin out. Why can anyone expect anythin different when Torchlight 2 comes out? Edit - Because I feel the need to actually answer the question. Diablo 3 in a heartbeat because after playin Torchlight to see what all the fuss was about I was left wantin to the point that I fished out my 10 year old D2 and LoD discs to actually play a fun dungeon crawler. | |
This exact same thread was made about a month ago... And I say the same now as I did then, Diablo 3 because Torchlight 2 seems to have a feature list written with the nostalgia-blinded in mind. | |
Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile... sheesh. Cluster-fuck of click-fests. I don't like that Diablo 3 doesn't trust the player with character attributes or skill-points. I found Torchlight 1 boring (after 30 hours). Probably Path of Exile (immense skill-tree) over Grim Dawn (from maker of Titan Quest), but I sense that Blizzard will nail the addictive elements of loot-finding in Diablo 3 and trump them all. | |

Torchlight 2. I like Blizzard don't get me wrong here and while I am sure there much more capable of keeping the login servers up unlike say Ubisoft... Its still something I will not personally support, Just as I don't support Ubisoft. If I am out and about away from my desktop on a long trip I bring my laptop, The issue being that while on the move say on a Train or on a Plane I would like the option to boot up my game with some headphones in, Always Online games don't give me that option. At least with steam I can get the laptop ready for it in offline mode before going. | |
Diablo 3, Torchlight was awesome but Diablo has always kept me occupied. I expect D3 to keep me occupied, and Blizz has not let me down....ever | |

I'll be playing both. The poll is stupid - there are people that can afford both and there are people that aren't stupid fanboys/fangirls. There is absolutely NO reason for me not to play them both. I've already bought three copies of Diablo 3 and four copies of Torchlight 2. | |
