I think I'm the only one finding it odd that this joke was made by the creators of The Family Circus, two of the most overtly conservative Christians on the planet. This is the same comic that show the family praying before the cross every year on Easter.

And yet, a joke about a universe with a God-Emperor where everyone religious are basically zealous crusaders that would make the people of the Spanish Inquisition blush.

It just seems really, really, odd to me.

Agree completely. I've been chalking it up to the creator of the strip not knowing ANYTHING about the 40K lore. They probably casually played one of the Dawn of War games and wanted a complicated costume idea as a placeholder.

OT: The comic doesn't make me feel better about Family Circus, it makes me feel worse about 40k.

Ave, Imperator, and Glory to Him on Earth.

Kill the mutant, Purge the unclean, Glory to Russ and the Allfather.

Nightvalien:

Found that while searching that quote you made. Found it rather apt.

Please tell me that is sung in the tune of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic?"

Because that is awesome.

Yep, it is

This has almost completely shattered my perception of reality.

I am conflicted.

One the one hand, Family Circus is notoriously unfunny, as Seanbaby brilliantly summarized.

On the other hand, them making a very specific 40k reference is pretty cool.

I'm not sure how to feel.
