I've been an avid SSB player since N64, however I've not really been looking forward to SSBB. I mean, hurray it's comming out, but I stopped carring for Nintendo releases when Twilight Princess was pushed back a year for the third time.
thats not really a reason not to be excited tho. just cause something is delayed a lot, when there is about a month left till the release date i think we can still get excited.
ANY game where Snake, Sonic, Samus and Jigglypuff can battle each other to the death HAS to be awesome, simple as that.
What I think about brawl... I think I'd love the game more if THIS were true... I'm gonna pester my roommate into getting it (it's his Wii), but I think some great Nintendo characters have been left out in favor of truly sad choices... Could give two craps about; WISH to have;
Yeah i would have liked to see Robocop take on Jesus. a man can dream...
Well, not a single game is coming out this year that will sell more copies, that I can think of (Wii Fit surely will, but I'm not counting it as a 'game'.) Can anyone think of any game (that we know for sure is coming out this year, any platform) that might out perform this game, sales-wise? As of right now, I can't think of any, but I may be wrong...
GTA 4 is the strongest rival for SSBB in terms of sales.
IF Gta4 comes out... I want Super Smash Brothers: Console Wars. Make a Smash Bros that releases for XBox360, PS3, AND Wii, and has the top characters from all systems. Lets say 8 each... Couple picks... Wii/Nintendo PS3/Sony C'mon. Who else?
Ooooohhh, GTA4, that's riiiiiiiiight. This is gonna be close after all! :) Hasn't GTA lost some of its steam though? I sure as hell wanna play part 4, but is it still gonna set the world on fire, Halo 3-style?
It's a good, fun game that can entertain you and your friends for hours. But for the love of GOD. PLEASE. STOP. ADDING. NEW. CHARACTERS. The money that you spend rifling through the Famicom archives for a popular game would be better spent on level design and gameplay ideas.
Looks great, my most looked-forward-to game release of the year thus far. I like that they included individualized story modes for characters, although it looks like a good number of them wind up chasing the Halberd for it. Less of a graphics update than Melee was over the 1st one, but really how much further can you go? Also, while this may seem selfish, no more Sheik = a happy me. Like half the Melee players I've met use Sheik and claim no one is better. Here's hoping they balance all the Final Smashes and make Washdashing easier on the thumbs.
Sheik is in.... | |
And I couldn't be happier about her being in, either. She was my favorite character, and I was highly saddened to hear she wasn't gonna be included, luckily they added her in, and I'm happy as a lark. That said, WhiteFangofWar, you say HALF the Melee players you met use Sheik? I was always completely alone in using her, most people used Fox, Mario or Ganondorf, with the occassional Samus or Captain Falcon.
I'm a novice to this series - I don't own any of the previous games and I've only really played it with other people at other people's houses, but I've found it fun every time. The Wii, with a couple of exceptions, is quickly becoming the "party" or "group" console when I have friends over at my place, and this will be a nice addition. I do have to say the third-party inclusion of characters is really what drives my excitement about the game. The Snake gameplay and trailers look hilarious.
I had SSB and SSBM and loved them, but as for SSBB . . . meh. I don't have a Wii (can't afford it, to be honest - though I could probably find a used one I could get) for one thing. SSBB just doesn't have the same appeal it did then, and I for one don't look forward to mucking about with Link or Fox by flailing about with my arms. Some games, sure, but SSB is too filled with nostalgia for me to care about any new fangled control scheme. I'd end up switching to an old GC controller (if I can. I'm not really sure) and that just feels like cheating.
you can use the old gc controller for sure.
And even if you don't use the gamecube controller, you don't flail around, you use button 1, button 2 and the D-pad on the wiimote. No flailing necessary.
This looks awesome! And the addition of Sonic is great!
I am looking forward to it...March 10th is too far...
Im really looking forward to this game, but to GTA 4 to. I think that SSBB and GTA 4 (why is it 4 anyway if its like the 9th game??) will be the top selling games this year, maby not Halo 3 style but that was just scary... about the characters, i'll probally use link most of the time and i'll test any other character such as Metaknight, king dedede, Snake and Sonic. im not really happy about third party characters, it makes the game loose its Nintendo only feel. And then there is Sonic. The hedgehof everyone seems to like and wants to play, but what can he do? some basic punches and kicks and spinning as a bal, none of that is new. ohyeah, he could turn supersaiyen or something.....
Sheik?!?!?! Shirley you jest... I take all comers with Pichu, and win 90% of the time... Sheik?!?!?!?!?? ...well..i guess if your opponent lacked thumbs....maybe
Needs more characters! Of course I'm just glad to dig into some nice~~ Ice Climbers again
ITS SURELY AWESOME !! Sadly, I can count other worty Wii games on a single hand, so its not an option to buy a Wii. And I would need some more game adicted friends to fully enjoy it.
I'm not...like...line up at midnight excited, but I am looking forward to it. It should be, if nothing else, an interesting game. If it gets pushed back one more time, im going to shit in Nintendo's oatmeal...
sadly thats true and now I am starting to regret buying it. It is great fun when friends are over to do some simple multyplayer games but for single player the wii isnt all that good. back on topic, what do you people think about that pokemon trainer?? Switching from 3 pokemon during battle is original but somehow i dont think it will be a really popular character like fox or falco. --Edit-- I forgot to mention how cool the new graphics look. Like Mario's jeans, Link in general and Bowser with his new transformation (I think that Bowser's transformation is in a challange in SSBM but not as an playble character).
All i can say is that the game of the year is coming out on March 10th, and i am pumped and have my pre-order made out already (licks lips).
I am actually not all that excited about it, for whatever I reason, I don't feel like it's time for it to be released. It feels like it's something that's so far away I can't really even begin to think about it, and this feeling will probably persist until the day it's released and I'm holding it in my hands (I've had it preordered for like 12 million years...)
Stage Builder looks awesome, especially since you can actually have moving/falling platforms and such, as opposed to simple static stages. I just hope there's going to be a Bowser's Castle stage, or failing that, the resources to make one in Stage Builder.
To be truly good with Sheik, you need to know how to use Zelda as well. If your in a 4 way free for all, unless you vastly outstrip your friends abilities, Sheik will get chewed up. She's good for 1 vs 1. Zelda can pwn multiple opponants if you use her properly (her side kick is one of the most satisfying kills I have experienced). As for Brawl, I'm getting a little apprehensive. Still really stoked, but really, how fresh can they make it seem? I think with the inclusion of Sonic the series is hitting it's zenith.
As I have played SB since the day it was released on the N64, I am on tenderhooks waiting for it to be released. I am also worried that Nintendo may have screwed it up with adding all the new gubbins, but I felt the same about Melee, and that turned out well.
Apparently, they've gotten rid of Wavedashing by making you slightly hover over the ground if you try to airdodge into it. The Falcon Knee has been altered a bit. It's just as powerful as it was in Melee, but it's harder to connect. However, this is made up for, as the Knee will make a satisfying "BOOOM" sound if you connect it right.
If they ever make a fourth one, it'll probably be for the Wii's successor, so they'll probably end up making an Adventure mode that improves upon Subspace Emissary near the extent that Subspace Emissary improved upon Melee's Adventure mode. With a combat system that works so well for both multiplayer and single-player, I can't see why they'd want to forsake one in favour of the other at this point. Here is a kickass 1 on 1 match between 2 hidden characters (SPOILERS, IF YOU CONSIDER PLAYABLE CHARACTERS TO ACTUALLY BE SPOILERS)http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=HDPlKBfWL0Q (End Spoilers)
Glad to see they got rid of the glitching that was wavedashing and its ilk. I remember seeing people do it, and it fills the entire room with "CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK". That said, it looks excellent but seems overhyped to me. Also, anyone else surprised that they never put in Megaman?
Yeah. I was thinking that if anyone else were to be added from a third party roster, it would be him. So it comes as no surprise to me that they don't have any other third-party characters besides Snake and Sonic, seeing as how Megaman's not in. It would be cool if they had him in and incorporated robot master weapons as melee attacks (Slash Claw for neutral A, Flame Sword for side tilt A, and Hard Knuckle for side smash). Another character I would have liked to see is Mii, but only if the Final Smash consisted of throwing the Wiimote at the screen/ other characters for an instant kill.
Wavedashing no more? oh well... I don't care much, tbh. I never needed glitching to help me win a fight (yes, it's glitching. None of that crap are "advanced moves" specially implemented by the developers). As for sheik, i hope she gets nerfed. Marth got nerfed, afaik. (btw it's SheIk, NOT ShIek). Also i hope link is not that laggy anymore. He's my favorite char, but i sadly had to admit he's crap against any experienced player. Ganondorf, i hope he's not another captain falcon clone. And it would be nice to see Psycho Mantis in that roster :P I like pokemon trainer. Gives me some nostalgia to see squirtle, ivysaur and charizard... but where's mewtwo? That Lucario guy looks like some unimaginative new pokemon with almost the same moves as mewtwo (haven't paid much attention to any Lucario vid, but his moves looked the same) [rant]

so i know everyone here is peeing their pants with anticipation for the game and we all mention it in every thread, me included. weirdly enough no one has actually started a thread discussing the game. so here i am starting one. what do you think about it? i personally am excited. although i wish there were going to be some new mechanics like the ones introduced between the original and melee. also im nervous that as no one plays with items now, and no one will play with them in brawl zero suit samus will be relagated to some random corner, inaccesable for us samus players. also id like to ask, who will be the char that you play as the first time u play the game? and who in general are you looking forward to and why? personally im excited for a bunch of the new chars, zero suit samus, metaknight, pokemon trainer and sonic of course. but the first char i play will be either sonic or pokemon trainer. so what do you guys think? what kinds of things are you thinking about the game?
