Hi,

I've been pretty bored game-wise recently and decided maybe i'd play through the original Half Life again. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any mod(s) that spice up the single player game a little bit or add a little-something new to the whole experiance.

I'm not looking for a total conversion like CS or Blue Shift or something like that. I just want something that keep the original HL and maybe adds some shiny new weapons or features or something along those lines.

I know you don't want a total conversion, but They Hunger was a pretty good HL mod.

Action-hl. You cant miss that.

I know you said you didn't want to hear about Blue Shift, but the expansion called Opposing Force is actually quite good, at least as good as Half Life IMO.

Dang, I don't remember any good SP mods for HL. I only remember the MP ones.

All the mods I remember are total conversions. But there are plenty of those for single player that I can recommend if you want.

Natural Selection. FPS Aliens vs marines with RTS sensibilities. One of the best multi-player mods of all time. Natural Selection 2 is in development under the source engine right now, and it will also be immense.

I forget what it's called at the moment, but there was an enhanced weapons mod that is found on virtually 86% of all running HL deathmatch servers. Basically: runes, more sniping capabilities on weapons, the ability to throw infinite crowbars, and more along those lines. If you're playing any versus, I recommend finding a server that has that on. The way you know they're using it is that the "game" listing under the internet matches screen shows something other than Half life or any of the known mods. Sorry for the haziness, as it has been awhile.

*sigh* people really don't seem to get it do they... :)

I guess because everyone calls Total Conversions mods these days. I would just play vanilla if anyone hasn't played it before. If not and you don't want new levels i would recommend the one that gives you CS weapons. Something very satisfying about using a silenced M4 to mow down soldiers. :)

Then again there were some decent single player TC's as well which might be worth tracking down. :)

Invasion beats every other single-player mod for Half Life by far.

Only problem is, it's in french. And sometimes it's very hard.
