Well, it was just me and Saskwach, and I got my arse handed to me (as I suspected I would).
We played Big World mode, so our silos and airbases were nigh on useless, radar coverage was tiny, and it took fucking YEARS to get anywhere. However, it did lead to huge epic naval battles that swung one way and the other quicker than a Metronome going Allegro. It all went downhill after Mexico City was obliterated by a stealthy barrage, but unbeknownst to the Wach, I managed to claw back a temporary lead first with a surprise sub attack on Tokyo and Nagoya, shortly followed by a quick attack from my submarines that left Bombay, Bangalore and Hyderabad in ruins.
While I defended my continent as well as I could, South America eventually succumbed to the might of the Asian forces and was subsequently nuked to high buggery. However, while my beautiful nations were being blown to pieces, I had maneuvered my withdrawn North Pacific fleet and surprise attacked the remnants of his defensive naval forces, letting bombers fly and hitting Hong Kong, Wahun, Bangkok and Shanghai. I finally gave up the ghost and surrendered to Saskwach's superior forces after my last ditch attempt to strike Seoul was decimated.
Fair game to that man, he sures knows how to humiliate in Defcon. Bravissimo!

Thanks akira, and that north pacific fleet pulled a truly awesome whoopsy daisy on me. I still don't know how you managed to move them south undetected through my scattering of ships. Your subs were a bugger too- by the end of the game I was constantly dancing my ships out of fear that your nukes might be on the way. BigWorld is a great game mode and I hope all the escapist defconners won't mind trying it some time.
"The Wach". I like it. I like it a lot.

Damnit, Sunday can't come soon enough. I'm always open for a Defcon game most days (except Friday night, when I do my podcast). Just add me on Steam (akirasfriend) and I'll gladly get my ass kicked by all you fun-lovin' people out there.

Hello again people. I'm sure you're sick of me but I won't stop bumping this thread until the Sunday Defcon match is a regular thing. Again, 2pm GMT, though this can be made flexible now I've left my Sunday job.
Now, the next order of business is what type of match we'll play. The three big settings are default, diplomacy and (dark horse here) Big World.
Default: You fight each other, making alliances if you want but it's still very much a free for all. Shooting is more important than protecting.
Diplomacy: Everyone starts allied with Survivor scoring set on (ie the population you keep alive is your score). The idea is to outthink and backstab everyone else until you're the only one left standing at the end of the game.
Big World: Default with the game world size and unit numbers doubled. Almost too much to handle but this setting makes you feel like an admiral. Akira and I agree this is great fun if a little boring when you're knocked out.
Everyone who's up for it post interest and what game-type you'd like.

I'm in. I prefer the default game, since it usually results in the most refined carnage :) Plus I'm not going to stop playing until I finally manage to beat Sask....

This may mean more games for a long, long time...

Beware Strafe. I might be giving you my tricks by the barrelful buts I've got lots of barrels and am gathering more.

Fresh meat! Excellent! The server's usually named after the user that creates it, we play at 2pm GMT (work out the time difference yourself if it applies) and the password's escapist. Good to have you on board :D

I do believe that we're actually full up this week!

Good grief, surely not?

I would like to devise a motto for full games...

Everyone shoot at Sask!

Oh you... *shakes fist in impotent rage*
Anywho, chavyneebslod, the details are: 2pm GMT this sunday and all future sundays most likely. The server will most likely be called Strafe Magee after our lovable friend who makes the server for us bad connection hobos. The password is "escapist". If we end up getting spillover (we have 6 sign-ups already for a max 6 player game) or even if the game has started already don't fear. Join anyway as a spectator and we'll organise a new server, or I'll pop out as a spectator for you noobs, or you can wait for the next game or whatever else works. If there's anything else you need even sometime after 2pm just message me. I should be on the escapist even up to gametime.
This leads me to a small tangent. Anyone who thinks they can host another server for the overflow please post here and tell us so we can get the second server up quickly if needed. Also, Strafe, so I don't forget, remember to change the server settings so we can have muchos spectators in game and that they are allowed to talk to players during the game. Otherwise we won't know about anyone trying to get on.
Oh, and for anyone who's interested, Melaisis has kindly made me an admin on the 3scapism steam group where I'm also flagging this event. If anyone feels like joining the group just message me for the link (I'm unsure if linking it here would be seen as advertising by our friendly neighbourhood mods so I won't risk it). This will go some way to making organisation easier as well as letting us open out into other games (I'm thinking of doing this for Sins in about a few months if anyone's interested).

Sask left halfway through, yet still ended up with the most points by the end. It came down to me and Strafe, in which was nuked the Hell out of one another and thus Sask (who still had all his cities safely tucked away in the north) avoided the majority of the conflict.

BWUH?!
Well this is one for the books. I'm so good I don't even have to be there to win. *does a merry jig*
Still, I feel bad about backstabbing Europe. It was quick and ruthless but very cold.

Alas, if it wasn't for those cheap shots of mine at New York within the final seconds of the game, then you still would have come first, me thinks. Ah well, I guess that's how the ruthless game goes, eh?

Same time next week, fellas?

Sorry I missed the game this week, a whole load of things came to my attention on Saturday. So I had a lot on my plate. Hopefully, I should be there for next week's game, to get beaten by every fucker.

It's about that time again people. We've had problems getting a full 6 into a game and this time I'm mad enough to nuke something. Gremlin, akirasfriend; this time I'll accept no excuses. You too Strafe. Mel...you're alright so far. Anyone else to pad out the full 6?
