OMG! Maria is Kerrigan. Sorry, i could'nt resist.
Wow, that's a really well thought out theory man, nice. That's really interesting actually, scince we have never actually seen the locust queen. Good theory, hope it's right because that would be one hell of a story.
You can see her at the very end of Gears 1 after killing RAMM.
hmmm... | |
You know... that's a really well thought out theory. My complements to you. It does make a lot of sense. It also, however, means that there is no one queen, but she instead somehow jumps bodies (let us assume that the Locust are an advanced hive mind, but with the ability to act individually for the greater good of the Locust). We can also assume that the Queen always exists, as in, they always have a queen. Maybe Maria became the queen after the original one, or, rather, the original body died.
That's a very interesting theory. Would like to see how Gears 2 plays out.
While that is a good theory I doubt that is what is really going on, because you have to remember this is Cliffy B. and Epic that we are talking about, and neither have ever come up with a good or original story and for them to actually give even two thoughts to the plot would amaze me.
That's pretty much what I was thinking.
Lets lay the facts on the table... please express your views below
Good Moogly, good. See there was no reason to start a new thread. Although there's no reason to link the thread you're already on.
Eh, it is a very well thought out theory - but chances are, it was just a wording mishap and it's just your regular ol' "aliens gun' kill us!" story, but I'm not saying your theory isn't likely.
This is interesting and I must state my joy that MGG made a decent post, after 198 tries. I always found it odd how the locust have a queen, despite the fact that the bereserkers (female) are incapable of doing anything but running head on into a wall. I think maria has become a puppet or figure head for the "hive mind" of the locust. She is controlled or manipulated by the locust leader to speak for it. I think this makes more sense than having maria for an unknown reason boss the locust around.
Having only scanned until this line I felt the flames of troll killing licking at me. Rsponses like "And the letter mARIa are in the word conspIRAcy in reverse order. OMG. Perhaps a grand conspiracy by the ARIAs to support the cause of liberating Ireland with homicidal Locusts?" Then I read the other sentences and saw your theory is quite reasonable. Damn you for ruining my fun.
Hey Saskwach, give the guy a break man. Anyways, OP, seems reasonable. Good theory, though the lack of information at the moment really makes it so we can;t refute or support your theory. Ah well, good work.
The question that raises is "Why Her?". Why not just kill her like everyone else? (I'll point out now that I never played GoW, but I read about it a lot. Sorry if my argument is invalid)
Margaret Thatcher is the locust queen......
I forgot that gears of war had a story. But in some seriousness, GoW's story really left ALOT to the imagination. In a game where everyone lost their family, I didn't know I was supposed to be attention to Dom's. I was too busy trying to figure out if it was just coincedence, or poor story telling that linked marcus fenix to practically EVERYTHING that was going on. His dad had mapped out all the locust tunnels? and who the fuck had been feeding him in that cell of his?
It was a joke. I was poking fun at myself more than him.
The Internet is huge...somewhere out there there is proof that will either support his theory or prove him wrong.
You sure this is your theory? How about "I've seen on other message boards and posts...." Most of your points were brought up in the Epic forums in April. http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?p=25377926 http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26333729 http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/gearsofwar2/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-42136111&pid=938611
Alright i have an idea...
Sounds plausible. Interesting theory.
Well the GoW suffers from what I call M.E.S. (Mass Effect Syndrome). This occurs when aliens who have only been around for maybe a decade or so can learn to speak English more fluently than the main character.
i can assure you that i did not take this from any of those websites becasue i have never been on the gamespot forums and i have never been to epic.com or kotaku.com. and thanks to everyone else for supporting my theory.
I'll go through, GOW Insane Veteran. GT: KILLJOYPOWERGUY
I don't care what anyone says but I know that Dom is the creator of all things. Dom saw no challenge in life so created the Locust, they are still no challenege for him but he continues to torment human kind because they did nothing to deserve the peace he could have created. Please refer to Gears Of War when Kim (nice but dim) is killed by genral Ramm (Pamm). Delta is trapped in a tomb, a beserker comes and chomps up a guy. Dom says, and I quote "Oh my God!" note the word "my" you see Dom gives a sense of personal belong over God, Dom gives credit to creating the world to God as no one is worthy (aside a chosen few) to know that Dom is the true creator of all. Also refer to an earlier scene when Marcus confronts the cornel guy (his name is not good enough to remember), as soon as Dom steps off of the King Raven, the cornel says "step aside" purley showing Dom's supiriority to everyone else. Dom's wife may be the Locust queen but please remember, Dom is the Locust King, as they are his personal belongings. Dom will end this war with a dramatic flash, he may even give the illusion of death and live on through the holy book of Dom (soon to go into unlicensed and underground publication). Please also remember that Dom will only end this war if his compassion for his fellow man (man God in Dom's case) is high enough for him to relieve their suffering. End of preach, I hope you all see the light of Dom and his holy ways
i think its possible but we never know what epic wants to do. but it makes you think, why is Dom so important and why doesnt he die like other sidekicks in games. if Dom's wife is the locust queen then we can expect a giant twist in the story.
I don't like revive dead topics but i did some digging on YT and dodged all the rick rolling about locust queen videos and found one so if you don't like spoilers you don't have to watch but you've been warned :P
you're wrong, ha ha | |
Agreed. Epic makes games about epic amounts of gibbing. Not story.
Damn, you beat me to it. Though, if you want to get theological about it the Maria connotation could lead you down two paths: 1) Any number of Saint Maria references, particularly that of being a martyr; or 2) a corrupted version of Mary, like a tainted Madonna or such. Or, I could just be giving Cliffy and his ilk too much credit.
Nope, your wrong sorry.
That seems like it could work but if you played GoW 2 yet I believe you see Maria is not the locust queen but in the research facility if you pick up a case file it has to do with a patient named ruth whos joints were inflaming and cried out in pain I don't remember all of it but something about trying to cure her maybe she became the locust queen. Also the sirens seemed to be locust as well even though they were once humans and the video of Nigles explaing the mountain you drive the centaur through has locust strongholds so maybe locust are evolved humans, maybe not dunno just my theories any thoughts?

I'm almost 90% sure that the Locust Queen is Dom's Wife or somehow connected with the locust queen. Let's look at the facts.
1. It says in the game informer magazines that, "On that day...Maria lost herself in the ruins of civilization." Even though it says she, "became a victim as surely she as if she had died on that first attack." It never states that she was actually killed.
2. Myrrah is the Locust Queen's name. Maria in Hebrew is Myrrah . Myrrah could also be a form of word used to sound like M-y-rr-ah like a Locust would try and sound out Maria.
The Locust could have captured her and brought her to their civilization on E-Day because they needed a leader. OR, they could be holding her captive as of now to gain intelligence about the humans whereabouts. Maria could be the one teaching them English. And how does the Locust Queen speak fluent English?
It also says in the magazine that "As the game begins, a piece of intel from Anya sends the estranged husband and his best friend Marcus to a hospital where she may have been sighted. Unsurprisingly, the Locust Horde chooses that inopportune moment to attack, and the battle unfolds." As soon as they arrive the Locust attack... Could they possibly be using her as bait as well? Or were they trying to protect her? Interesting stuff.
It's just a theory so don't bash me. I'm just almost certain it has to work out someway like this.
