That 11 dollar an hour "Geeksquad" know-it-all bastards, couldn't tell me shit about computer parts. Bunch of overpaid retards if you ask me. It's not exactly the easiest thing in the world to upgrade a laptop, but it's failry easy enough that you can usually find people who will put in the enw parts for you. I've never heard of PC World, but it sounds like they really only specialise in personl computers. |

yeah i love the bestbuy guys, they make me laugh. i almost had a job with geek squad, didn't have my a+ cert so they were like "we don't want you". i like to say when you can tell me what a time domain reflectometer is then you can touch my pc or tell them you run linux and watch them run away from you in horror and say how the equipment won't work with it as for the topic, some laptops the cpu is easy to upgrade and some they aren't, at the least there's a panel over the cpu you have to remove, at the most you have to take it apart first |

Many have code on their OS that if too much of the core system varies from what it started as, the OS thinks its a different computer and no longer functions. I'm not saying "Don't Upgrade Laptops", but I am thinking it very strongly. Also, no Geeksquad. Someone else already mentioned it, take the advice and never service PCs at Bestbuy or Futureshop. |
Paperboy Posts: 22 Joined: 8 May 2008 | I wouldn't go to PC world if I were you, they don't know shit, they'll overcharge you for the part and then super-overcharge you for the labour to the point where it's not much more expensive to buy a new laptop instead. |

I replaced the harddrive of my mac from 30 to 250 gb and it was only 36 dollrs there. U peeps from the uk must get charged a lot but we don't get |

At the time I had thought it a good idea to not get a fast cpu. But now im stuck with a maxed out laptop in everything but the harddrive and cpu. Can I do it? Replace the cpu? |

I know it is possible, but my acer aspire 5720 with custom graphics card of 512mb, is running a little sub par, what cpu would I need, would the tech guys at pc world do it for me? I'm asking here as I've sent them numerous emails over the last three months, each with no reply.
