I like playing Brawl with my friends, and the online capabilities or lackthereof are absolutely horrible. First/Third-person shooter games have such ridiculous HUDs these days, you can't really play split-screen. I actually find it hard to see things on the screen. For those kinds of games, I'd say online. For Smash Bros, I'd say with friends. |

This allowed everybody on one team to play in one room and everyone on another team to play in another-as to prevent screen hacking. Still, I prefer friends over strangers. |

Also there is less shame for poor preformance or failure if you don't know your team mates, and will never see them again. The one exception is Diablo 2 night with my friends. We try to put together the most cohesive party we can. With that we know we can't rely on random internet people to be team oriented enough to act for the greater good. |

My friends are really competitive, so in any game, I prefer more anonymity than playing with them. I know I actually blocked one friend on MSN because I played Brawl with him online. |

sorry, this is going to drive me nuts otherwise. its FRIENDS, not freinds. ok? Carry on. |

HAHAHA TAKE THAT YOU FUKEN BRITISH FAG!!1!1!oneone!!11eleven" in person, although people tend to mess about more and/or screen look so you can't really play tactical games like Socom or Ghost Recon very well. Plus LANs are a pain in the ass to organise and set up. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1214 Joined: 9 May 2008 | I think it's best to play with a friend online (to avoid split-screen), in private chat, with random people, so we can totally take the piss out of how crap our team is usually. However, playing w/ friends round and speaking online with random people makes for some good times :D |
Paperboy Posts: 14 Joined: 6 Apr 2008 | I believe playing with friends will always beat playing with random people online. There seems to be a large number of phenominal idiots roaming the online gaming world that just seem to ruin it completely. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1175 Joined: 17 Jun 2008 | Friends are always better. Anonymity does bad things to people. And usually people who play online games are annoying, very competitive, bad losers, exploiting stuff, etc. At least when I play with friends I know exactly who I play with and I know how they act and are. I don't want to have to deal with 13 year olds who exploit stuff and shout "gay!" at me when I play, I play to have fun and get away from that stuff. |

Online is just fraught with d1ckheads who use the anonymity of the net to be as obnoxious, sexist and racist as possible. I choose my friends better than that. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3896 Joined: 4 May 2008 | With random people, normally you can get a good, full game going rather than 2v2 or whatever. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 920 Joined: 24 Oct 2007 | I'm not too big on online multiplayer (to me it just feels stale and wierd when my rival or my mate is not in the premises) so I think that means that I much rather play multiplayer games with my friends next to me. But the truth is that 99% of the time I dedicate to gaming goes single player titles. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 599 Joined: 17 Apr 2008 | it depends really, i mainly play pfs and if im looking for a piss around then playing online with randoms is fine. but if im trying to do something that required any skills, like the story mission (or the survive for 60minutes achievement) on GRAW2, then you need some friends/people you know. As these maps/missions need tactics and team work you need people who listen to each other and help each other and dont just use the head-set to laugh at peoples accents, age or ability. |

Also, the style of play commonly used by my friends for UT2004 - being all players on one side, bots on the opposing side, and friendly fire encouraged, especially if the friend in question is carrying the flag - would probably get us all banned from whatever server we tried it on if we went into a normal game. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4297 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | I HATE split screen but I'll admit that some games are more fun that way, but if I can play with my friends through LAN or Online then I'll usually go with that. |

As we all know nowadays almost all multyplayer games have internet multiplayerability (I use big fake words) but some games are just more fun with a couple of freinds instead of people on the internet.
But anyways I want to know which u prefer (playing with freinds or playing with random internet people) and what games u think would best support your desicion.
In my opinion playing with freinds is the best especially playing rock band (and singing the wrong song while still getting a great score)
