You couldn't do a pre-Bioshock game. What would you do? The game is perfect the way it is. I don't want it to suffer from "George Lucas Syndrom" and have a sucky prequel.

Give the developers some credit, Radelaide. It could very well be that we haven't seen anything, yet, and the prequel (assuming Bioshock 2 is a prequel) will actually make the universe make more sense instead of less.

I think Bioshock 2 should be set in Rapture again. Before you say this is stupid here me out. In Bioshock Rapture is gone to hell as you progress you do a lot of damge to the place but you never see the consequences. Bioshock two could be about how the city has been torn apart. In Bioshock the city, while decaying, was mostly intact, aside from a plane landing on it. What with all the stuff which Jack destroyed, it could have caused some irrepairable damage. Maybe you start as one of the few 'sane' people left

. You could try to escape before the city is destroyed or collapse the city to stop the splicers from getting to the surface.

I think that could be one route to go. (Probably not the best)

I think they should pull a 'Final fantasy' with bioshock and just make a new setting with similar themes and gameplay i.e systemshock > bioshock > ----shock

The story of rapture was resolved in bioshock without much room for a sequel.

As for the bioshock movie I have no faith it will be good for the same reason a majority of game to movie adaptations fail. The writer/director will not like the story, or wants people to be surprised by it instead of knowing what happens so they'll create a new story only the names and places might be the same, throw in a love story, remove the little sisters (zomg we can't have a movie ware a little girl is put in harms way) so all thats left is a movie that takes place in an underwater city

That's pretty much where the speculation is about BioShock 2 - people are thinking it'll probably be about how Rapture fell before the protagonist arrived.

This is speculation, of course. We're not entirely sure what they're going to do with BioShock 2 yet.

As for the movie, I don't think you could do much with that either. It's not really movie material. The choices in it are too personal. The game has two endings for a reason.

Are you fucking kidding me?
Even though the game was set post collapse, the story was set up pre-collapse during the fall, they could easily show everyone going insane.

Also I thought I'd use my accidental double post for something useful,
Gore Verbinski has proven himself an able director and 2K is writing the script, how are they going to mess this up?

Has it definatley been confirmed as a Bioshock sequel and not just another Shock game?

If it was I would be excited for it but no, 2K franchised Bioshock and has another studio handling it. I do wish to see another Shock game come out though after all this hoopla is done in about 4 years.

Personally I'm liking the whole idea of a prequel, or at least the civil war aspect. It's not completely impossible. For instance, would it be impossible for you to actually play as fontaine? After all there is alot of back story in his character and the fight between him and his goons vs the police etc. where he disappears could perhaps be a dramatic finale or epic battle nearer the end. Would tie up some loose ends in the story.

Then final cutscene could be him writing a small tag and attaching it to a present :) If people recognise how that ties into the first game. It's definetly worth some thought.

Bioshock 2 isn't a prequel, it's set 10 years after bioshock 1, it is set so that jack (you) chose to save all the little sisters in the first game. In this game you play as a special 'prototype' big daddy, you can make use of the rivet gun, the drill(!), the grenade launcher and chemical thrower, other weapons haven't been mentioned. The new bad guy, well bad girl, is the 'big sister' a former little sister who couldn't bare life on the surface so returned to rapture, there she underwhent the big daddy change programme. She kitted her self out with special armour, then a special ADAM seringe. OH! You can also venture out into the ocean this time around, after all big daddys have scuba suits.

no bioshock movie please, I don't think they can get the bioshock "feel" in it, and if it lacks that, it won't be nearly as good as the potential it has.

pre-bioshock games: awesome, I would love some more background on anything Steampunk

Pre-Bioshock definetly, we get to see Rapture in it's prime and watch it fall. It could make for one interesting drama/action movie to watch Ryan's descent into despotism.
