Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 860 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 | I love Fallout and Fallout 2 (hell, I even love Tactics and Brotherhood of Steel), but this just won't be a great Fallout game. It will, however, be a great game. I'll be buying it. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 424 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | When i first heard of it I thought it might suffer from hit percentages like morrowind did, but it looks like it plays similarily to mass effect where your stats affect your general accuracy rather than having hit percentages. Anyway I've never played the earlier fallout games so I'm excited. |

Believe us, we hate when that happens, because the next day You:This oblivion with guns sucks. |
News Room Contributor Posts: 3894 Joined: 21 Feb 2008 | I too am excited for Fallout 3. I came to the Fallout party fairly late, not being much of a PC gamer back when the original games were released, but managed to grab them on a compilation I discovered while browsing the titles at my local GAME store. Funnily enough, I've going to echo the first post I ever made at the Escapist and say that, while I enjoyed Oblivion, I hope Bethesda have ironed out some of its more glaring flaws. From what I've read though, it seems that they have. |

You just know the game will get a 90+ metascore, sell millions within a few months. Yet fallout fans will be bitching on the forms for years about how the game is horrible and dumbed down much the way they complain about oblivion |

I did like Oblivion what could be wrong with adding guns and explosions? |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 860 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 |
Grrrr.... That's the only thing I'm really worried about with Fallout 3. All of these "non-fallout" gamers that want to play Oblivion with guns will try out the original Fallout games, to see if they like them as much as they liked the third. This type of player probably won't, and will say that the original games were awful. I mean, I kind of liked Oblivion as well, but I *really* don't want an Oblivion with guns. I want Fallout. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1710 Joined: 2 Jan 2008 | I'm actually just now playing the original Fallout, what with all the attention Fallout 3 is getting. I'm not sure what to think about it yet. It's one of those games that probably would have blown my mind if I'd played it a few years ago. |

So, I don't know if Fallout could be anything like that.... Anyway, I'll admit I have yet to play a Fallout, maybe I'll jump on the band wagon with this upcomming title. Gone Gonzo Posts: 2904 Joined: 12 May 2008 | This game is straying pretty far from the original fallout, I reccomend everyone playing fallout 2 before fallout 3, as if you don't it will be like playing morrowind after you played oblivion. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | I want Fallout 3 so bad. I don't usually get games when they first come out, I wait for the price to come down. In this case I may just make an exception. |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 | I am by and large a huge fan of the original Fallouts, and contrary to the nerdcore idiots who rampage around some of my previously favored gaming discussion spots, I do believe that we can trust Bethesda on this one. They realize their mistakes with Oblivion, which they are trying very hard to fix, they all love the originals, which ensures the game its sense of humor, and, lastly, the biggest complaint from early previewers is that it TRIES TOO HARD to be like the originals and doesn't capitalize on the "Oblivion with Guns" aspect. Personally, I don't see where Bethesda is going wrong with this. |

Don't you mean: I'm sitting on the sidelines with this one. I love Fallout and I want to love this, but knowing Bethesda's past games, they don't seem up to it. With that siad I'm still going to buy it and critisise and rant about everyone you can't kill. Seriously. Wayda kill the funs guys! |

Yeah I don't think the worlds as child-killing happy as you. |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 | I most certainly am. I liked the Morrowind system where if you killed a main-story character before you finished that part of the game, it gives you a message saying "You f***ed up. If you don't have a save within an hour, it's time for you to scream." much better than Oblivion guys getting knocked out when I slice them open from head to toe. |

Omg.. You just brought back the memory's. 30 side quests with auto-save on. kill main person by accident.. Last save..Two days ago and over 30 side quests I would have to do again, |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 |
Exactly. Glad I could bring the memories back. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | And you people think that was a better system than in Oblivion? Are you all masochists? |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 | Well, it's a hell of a lot more realistic. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4578 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 |
Yes I did it was more realistic and made me think I was actually apart of the world. Wanna kill Mr. V go right ahead and try if you kill him you kill him.(I did I got sunder early.)Plus I really like how gritty it was like that middle zone(can't remember what it was called) actually felt like hell and a battlefield. Morrowind was just better overall in my opinion then oblivion. Oblivion was just the same stuff..Over..Over...Repeat until maps filled with that. |

Your talking about realism in a game with magic. |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 |
I'm talking about mortality. Every fantasy game has magic in some form or another. Tell me, please, what is your favorite game that likes to brag about its realism. Please. |

Well Halo obviously is some made up bullshit. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4578 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 |
And your some guy that creeps me out by how much you devote your life to halo. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4578 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 |
MORROWIND IS SOME MADE UP BULLSHIT. But hey at least its realistic made up bullshit if you don't count magic. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | Why can't a game with magic have realism? Mass Effect has psychic powers, but the stuff in the Codex is often pretty realistic. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3447 Joined: 8 May 2008 |
And you don't count the lack of voice acting, stiff animation (the running especially) the way weapons break down, lockpicking, the stars affecting your stats etc,etc |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 | Ah, but see, it was implemented well. And try using mods next time. Morrowind+mods is so much better than Oblivion that it's not funny. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4578 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 |
And even if they did have voice acting it would be just bland like oblivions. Seriously sometimes voice acting can ruin games. Like if your character talked in KOTOR. Stiff animation the games what 6 years old. Old games seriously should not be compared on animation to todays standards. |

Okay. So, I know there's some, uh... Conflicting emotions regarding Beth's upcoming release. A friend just recommended I check out some of the recent footage. Now, I am, and always will be a fan of the originals. The new one looks completely different. I have to admit, however, that I'm totally stoked for it. It looks unfathomably incredible.
I'm curious to see if opinions have settled since a couple months ago.. Anyone?
