Paperboy Posts: 11 Joined: 2 Jul 2008 | What did I expect from Nintendo at E3? I expected a freaking Nintendo E3 Conference. Instead I got a watered down showcase containing a women who had a grin like the Joker and a wrist she couldn't stop acknowledging, a skate boarder on a block and an unnecessary WiiMote peripheral that nobody wanted. I can't even believe that Mainstreamers enjoyed this. Why? Because they don't watch E3 and if they did, I'm sure they were above the age of 3. |
Muckraker Posts: 229 Joined: 29 May 2008 | I was hoping for a new original IP, an update of a series other than Animal Crossing (Pikmin, F-Zero, etc.), a successor to the DS, things like that. I've kind of forgiven Nintendo for E3 now. They've already said "Sorry hardcore gamers, but we simply were not aiming this years E3 at you". They haven't said they are abandoning the hardcore market, they simply said their goal for E3 was not to represent this side their business plan. And it wasn't just Nintendo who had a disappointing showing, they are just being singled out because they are always expected to razzle and dazzle at E3. Look at what they did unveil though. A chuffing microphone!! Thank you Nintendo! And the new motion peripheral is a good idea. Critics who tried it at E3 said it worked really well, and hopefully it can take us further away from tacked on simple controls and leading to a more original gaming experience. |

You know Mics have been around for a long time late 08 is really sad. |

You really have to have the last word don't you? I'm not saying it's good because it's new, I'm saying it's good because they have said they have been unnecessary for so long, and now finally the average Nintendo gamer is getting what they've been asking for a long time. That's not 'sad'. |

No, they are being singled out because they had the worse showing period. |

Yeah the worst showing for the hardcore gamer, when they specifically said they weren't using E3 as a platform for the hardcore gamer this year. I can't think of a more futile thing to be upset about. Nintendo have got our hardcore backs covered, we're just going to have to wait until later for any big unveilings. |

Maybe less soccer moms discussing how wrist movements are now shown in their new sports game thing? Maybe less douche-bags with punk rock hair cuts thrashing around with a Wii-mote to look as if he is actually playing the drums? Maybe Myamoto showing off something new that has nothing to do with Mario or Zelda or any of the other things he's made in the past (yeah right)? And certainly not that extremely boring looking Wii-Music, thats for sure. You know, the sorta shit we kind of expect from E3. |

That's the thing- EVERYONE is expected to 'razzle and dazzle' at E3. Especially the Big Three. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 4 Jun 2008 | I wasn't expecting much, I never really do. But I still ended up really, really disappointed somehow, and I'm a little bewildered as to how that happened. Then again the show was pretty pathetic altogether, and its obviously due to the scaling back of e3 during the last few years. Why would you put nearly as much effort into a show that's been castrated? |

But E3 is a hardcore effing event! Twelve year kids and grannies watching it were not. It's where, for lack of a better word, 'proper' gamers look to for new shinies. They do not look to E3 for the kind of crappy gimmicks that even Argos would be reluctant to shove in their back pages. Unfortunately, that is what they got. Using E3 as an announcement forum for casual gamers is like racing a regatta in a chavved up Ford Focus. No matter how much posturing you're going to do, you're going to sink sink sink...
How can you verify that? Nintendo have released next to no info on any hardcore projects they've got. All we know is that there'll be yet another Mario, and yet another Zelda at some point. As far as old-school Nintendo fans are concerned, they've been kicked out of the house and told to move back in with their parents. If Nintendo didn't release any worthwhile hardcore news at a hardcore event, what makes you think they'll do so later? |
Press Junketeer Posts: 410 Joined: 9 Oct 2007 | I was at least expecting some rehashed franchises. What I would have really like from Nintendo is a new core IP. Not a new casual game. Not a rehashed core game. A new core game. However, seeing as it's Nintendo, the odds of that are around 0.0000000001% |
Paperboy Posts: 28 Joined: 22 Jul 2008 | Judging from past experience (N64 and Gamecube) there's always been two 3D Pokemon games on each console, and judging by how utterly garbage Battle Revolution was, I'm really hoping that the sequel will be much better; I'm looking for leaderboards, personal stat tracking and better effects. |
Paperboy Posts: 21 Joined: 23 Jul 2008 | Pikmin, and I'm pissed it didn't happen. I don't even own a wii because there hasn't been any reason for me to purcahse it. 4/6 people I hang out with, at their house and what have you, have Wiis. There is no reason for me to buy one for a singleplayer experience that doesn't exist already, somewhere else. Animal Crossing was fun, for maybe a week, but it's really the sims with more quirks and a time operable environment. Fencing looks fun, but again, my friends already have Wiis, and I'd only play it with them anyways. Same with SSB |

Yeah, it's not like those aren't games we've already played to death anyway. I think I'll just play Fallout 3 whilst I wait for ACTUAL games from Nintendo. That, or maybe Duke Nukem Forever will come out before that actually happens. |

Phbbt, right. What with the knowledge that they can make twice the money for half the effort, I don't think they care about the hardcore community anymore. |
Beat Writer Posts: 186 Joined: 5 Jul 2008 | Nintendo promised hardcore titles, but nothing. Nintendo has fallen from my favor with all of the crap they've been pulling lately. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1668 Joined: 7 Feb 2008 | A new DS? Why? There's nothing wrong with the one we got. Honestly though, I feel sorry for hardcore Nintendo fans, this E3 was a serious insult to you guys its like... "I know you guys kept the Gamecube afloat through your loyalty, here's a nice whopping FUCK YOU to anyone who liked the old nintendo, this is the new Nintendo bitches! We make money now!" |

We all know what a disaster the Nintendo E3 conference was, so what kind of games were you expecting or hoping that Nintendo would unveil at E3? For me, I was really hoping for a new F-Zero game (it's been like 4 years since the last one and I truly LOVED the Gamecube title.
