Yeah... About that... Half life 1's plot is meaningless at best, nonexistent at worst. Besides, HL2's plot kinda fills you in and it doesn't really connect to the original. So don't worry about it. |

Muckraker Posts: 286 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | Ico and Baldur's Gate are at the top of the list. After that comes the first six Final Fantasies and Half-Life 2 (although I don't know if Half-Life 2 counts as old yet). |

I would also suggest anyone who doesn't mind being killed constantly for being a beginner untill learning how the controls work, Battlefield 2142 or any of that series, but only choose one from becuase they are pretty much the same. Just remember this: The buddy system is essential to your survival; it gives the enemy somebody else to shoot at. |

Goes for Silent Hill also but I've played the second one, not the first. Then there are the games I actually own and still haven't beaten. |

Actually, Half Life 2 starts awhile after the end of the first one and beating Half Life doesn't bear much significance, it seems like you know enough of the backstory to play it. As for me, I've heard the Beyond Good and Evil was good, and with the impending sequel, I should probably try the first one. Also I think I should play the Fallout series. |

This isn't a thread about games you feel others need to play, or upcoming games you're looking forward to. But what are some older games you feel you need to hunt down and play to truly consider yourself a gamer?
Some of mine:
-Beyond Good and Evil: Everyone says it's awesome, and whenever there's a game that the few people who buys it loves it, they're usually right. Case in point: Psychonauts.
-Metal Gear Solid series: Such an iconic video game series, yet I've never played a single title, and now with the compilation at $30, there's no excuse for me to not pick it up and give it a try.
-Silent Hill 1 & 2: Same reason as above, minus the compilation thing, those I have a feeling will take some hunting down.
- Half-Life 2: I played the first one up until this elevator shaft rubble-jumping thing that I could never get past, and gave up. So having never finished the first game, I felt I'd be missing parts of the plot. I lost my copy of Half-Life and eventually became disinterested in the series until recently.
Can't think of any others right now.
