Gonna have to agree with you on Beyond Good and Evil. Other than that...i'm not too sure if i've truly missed out on some classics.
Odin Sphere and Tales of the Abyss are two that I need to play and want to, I just never get around to do so. There are other games that bored me, but that I still feel like i should play, the one comming to mind right now is Skies of Arcadia.
Rampage every few months or so i always boot it up for an hour or two. the game is very cathartic and relaxing.
Uh; | |
Oh i know! Shenmue 2, cuz i never got to play it on the XBOX or port it in from Japan for the DC >_<
Its known as a 'Pile of shame' The Shame part comes from either the game being a critical success but a commercial flop and/or the developer tanked.
Yeah... About that... Half life 1's plot is meaningless at best, nonexistent at worst. Besides, HL2's plot kinda fills you in and it doesn't really connect to the original. So don't worry about it.
Hmm; And probably many more...
Ico and Baldur's Gate are at the top of the list. After that comes the first six Final Fantasies and Half-Life 2 (although I don't know if Half-Life 2 counts as old yet).
I am actually impressed with Spleeni's suggestions to which half the games are actually decent. I would also suggest anyone who doesn't mind being killed constantly for being a beginner untill learning how the controls work, Battlefield 2142 or any of that series, but only choose one from becuase they are pretty much the same. Just remember this: The buddy system is essential to your survival; it gives the enemy somebody else to shoot at.
Psychonaughts Although I'm proud to say I've finished every c&c out. Personally I think the old ones were better.
Silent Hill 1,2&3 Mostly because I lack money.
Okami | |
Bioshock (Everyone says it has no replay value but I can't remember the last time I rented a game)
Killer 7, Beyond good and evil, Silent hill series and Zelda series.
Bioshock (Everyone says it has no replay value but I can't remember the last time I rented a game) Actualy ive beaten it six times going on seven, it has plenty of replay value and to answer the post im going to take this as a favorite games kind of thing i guess and go with 1.Bioshock 2.Half life 2/ ep1/2 3. Portal 4. starcraft 5.rainbow six vegas 1/2 6.masters of orion 7.elder scrolls series
In a way, IWBTG is begging me to hunt it down. Mainly though, Battletoads. Ico is on there too, but it just never looked too appealing to me.
. | |
actualy i beat it six times so it has plaenty of replay value Sorry about the crazy re-posting im just figureing out how to use the quote things
MGS4. It's sitting in the pile, waiting for me to actually get around to it. Maybe when they patch trophy support in, since they've just done that for Uncharted I'm getting a Dual Shock 3 to replay that with this weekend.
Smash tv for the Genesis!
I have to beat Sot FARKING Collossus but I can't find it in any FARKING store... seriously, such a popular game and it's nowhere to be found. Goes for Silent Hill also but I've played the second one, not the first. Then there are the games I actually own and still haven't beaten.
Psychonauts Among many others which, unfortunately, I can't recall right now.
Ace Combat Zero well that's some of the old games I just want to play >_>
Kingdom Hearts 2 Most of these I just haven't gotten to, but I also lack the money for the other ones.
Okami is the stand-out for me.
-Xenosaga series | |
pretty much all these + Halo 1&2
I have never played a Final Fantasy game. Maybe thats why I don't care about the series.
I'm gonna have to say.... -Knights of The Old Republic 1 and 2
Is no one going to mention any games that were actual defining moments in gaming history, or is it just going to be all rehashed modern day drivel? I have yet to play XCOM: UFO Defence, Dune II and Grim Fandango.
This is gonna shock a lot of people. -Bioshock
Actually, Half Life 2 starts awhile after the end of the first one and beating Half Life doesn't bear much significance, it seems like you know enough of the backstory to play it. As for me, I've heard the Beyond Good and Evil was good, and with the impending sequel, I should probably try the first one. Also I think I should play the Fallout series.
-Baldur's Gate II (I've actually played this game but never finished it)

This isn't a thread about games you feel others need to play, or upcoming games you're looking forward to. But what are some older games you feel you need to hunt down and play to truly consider yourself a gamer?
Some of mine:
-Beyond Good and Evil: Everyone says it's awesome, and whenever there's a game that the few people who buys it loves it, they're usually right. Case in point: Psychonauts.
-Metal Gear Solid series: Such an iconic video game series, yet I've never played a single title, and now with the compilation at $30, there's no excuse for me to not pick it up and give it a try.
-Silent Hill 1 & 2: Same reason as above, minus the compilation thing, those I have a feeling will take some hunting down.
- Half-Life 2: I played the first one up until this elevator shaft rubble-jumping thing that I could never get past, and gave up. So having never finished the first game, I felt I'd be missing parts of the plot. I lost my copy of Half-Life and eventually became disinterested in the series until recently.
Can't think of any others right now.
