Gone Gonzo Posts: 1021 Joined: 13 Dec 2007 | Mega Man Anniversary Collection - A good, challenging collection of awesome platformers. Every once in a while, I'll fire it up and play through a game. Mega Man X Collection - Like the Anniversary Collection, but better. I remember playing it a few times when I had to leave for school in 10 minutes. After beating Chill Penguin and Spark Mandrill, I thought to myself "Damn, that was some good stuff right there" as opposed to a lot of games where playing for 10 minutes ends in you not really getting anything done. Starcraft - It's a classic. Every now and then I'll fire it up, and on a good day, I'll get some online matches going with a friend. The fond memories of my victories over him can be summed up in two words: "CANNON RUSH!" Halo (PC) - The multiplayer is damn near unplayable, but I like the campaign, and the music just gives me a warm, fuzzy, good feeling. |

I don't understand what everyone has against more recent installments of UT. Yeah, UT Classic was amazing, arguably the best sci-fi shooter ever made, but UT04 is so much fun. My buds and I still play it at LAN parties all the time. Instagibbing each other until 5am never gets old. I haven't played UT3 yet, but it looks a lot like Gears of War, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm just a bit anxious (not in a good way) to see how they went about doing it. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 570 Joined: 11 Jan 2008 | I think this is the same as the 'what games have you replayed' thread going around, but still... I've stuck at Discworld Noir, Still Life, Broken Sword I, Grim Fandango, Farcry, Max Payne I & II and Silent Hill 1-3. I very rarely get far in any game I'm not immensely enjoying, so completing any game more than once by me is a real accomplishment to the developers. |

Its almost been a decade now... and under dozens of names, I've stuck with it over the years, even in the basterd child that was T:V (once I'd modded the shit out of it) EDIT: How the hell are some of these 'Games you stuck with'? Some of them are not even a year old! Try sticking with a game once the masses have forgotten it and the publishers have withdrawn support, leaving a slowly dying community that refuses to do just that. I spend more time drinking and thinking about tribes these days than playing it. |

Paperboy Posts: 20 Joined: 14 May 2007 | I'm the kind of person who gets bored with games easily, and i give up on nearly all of them without finishing or getting very far. I have quite a few games i've uninstalled, and i have plenty of room to keep them, without 20 hours of gameplay (Viva Pinata, Guild Wars, Universe At War, The Movies.) When i do get into a game enough to keep playing it it's usually a multiplayer game. I spent months each playing Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, and BfME 2 (though the expansion ruined it). Though i did get all the way through Half-Life 2 (and portal, but that's exceptionally short). I haven't cracked the episodes yet, though. I actually forced myself to finish Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, just to see if it could be done, as terrible as the game was. And in the console sector, i played all the way through the campaign for Battlefield BC: because the ethernet port on my xbox was broken. This is very interesting, because i didn't use to quit so easily. I remember as an early adolescent, i would finish lots of games, particularly J-RPGs, which i was into at the time. I have fond memories of Golden Sun and The Tales Games. I even finished Evolution Worlds, which may have been the most boring game ever. I observe this in my brother, two, who's 11, and is completist in everything he plays. He didn't quit animal crossing til the had the mansion, and still hasn't quit Guitar Hero, becuase he hasn't 5-Starred every song yet. |
Paperboy Posts: 30 Joined: 16 Apr 2008 | Final Fantasy 4 is a big one for me. No matter how many times I play threw it, I always enjoy it. Super Mario RPG. I've played it so much it's not even funny. Brigandine is a game that is just amusing and i hardly seem to get tired of. Those are the major ones for me. |
Paperboy Posts: 26 Joined: 8 May 2008 | Considering that most of the games that i play are pre 2004, i'd say..quite a few. |

I just saw a post called "games you suck at" and misread it. Although I thought this could be interesting, so here goes.
What game/games did you really stick with? You know the games you played through countless times, the games you uninstalled telling yourself: "I'm probably not gonna need this anymore" just to find yourself installing it a month later.
With the exception of World of Warcraft, the KOTOR games has had me playing through both more times than I can count on 2 hands. It doesn't matter if I get the same dialog and outcome I just love playing them over and over again.
So everyone; SHOOT!
