indeed FFVIII - gets slated, but it's probably one of my favourites of the series |
Anonymous Source Posts: 6 Joined: 23 Sep 2006 | I'm old school enough to think that The Operational Art of War is still incredibly cool. A distant cousin of this game for the PS2, Ring of Red, is another of my favorites that nobody I know seems to like. Myst (and sequels) and in general the whole adventure genre is something that can still entrance me. I can even find room in my heart for Daikatana. Even with all of the robot frogs in the first few levels... it was the last of the old school kill everything romps until the more modern day banner bearers such as Serious Sam and Painkiller. FPSes that let story get in the way of gameplay are my personal bane, so oftentimes I dislike highly acclaimed single player campaigns (COD4's on the rails, "we won't let you advance without dying until you watch this event happen" is a recent example). Daemon Slayer12: Ace Combat 5 is possibly my least favorite of the series. I've played the rest (save 6) to the point of total unlock. The storytelling, and the one-way-to-do-this missions (like the one where you follow the flight lead in a training aircraft halfway through the game) get in the way of the Turn and Burn fun that for me is the hallmark of the series. |

Although I don't think I got very far on te first one I remember completing the second one. My main one would be Dirge of Ceberus. Maybe it's because I loved FFVII so much, although still havn't completed FFVII to this day without cheating. |

I'm 100% with you. I think Ace Combat 5 is probably the best in the series becuase of the epic story. Kinda got letdown by the AC6 story but it's still a blast to play. |

Paperboy Posts: 35 Joined: 2 Apr 2008 | Earth Defense Force 2017. Yeah, I know that it looks like a piece of crap, but sometimes you just want a game that lets you level a whole city with a rapid-fire rocket-launcher. |

Agreed. I was never really sure why this game got such a kick in the balls. I preferred it to X, though, so others might view me as some sort of demon's spawn. Kirby's Dream Course, too. I'd always want to play that when my friends would come over, but they didn't find it as charming as I did. Although, we were all like...ten. |
Paperboy Posts: 45 Joined: 6 Aug 2008 | ET...just kidding. I liked the first 3D Castlevania game, made for the N64. You could play as either the girl with the rings, or the usual whip wielding guy. I have yet to find anyone else that liked the game. |
Muckraker Posts: 340 Joined: 3 Jan 2008 | I used to love Star Wars: Masters of the Teras Kasi It was totally addicting, and I know it gets hammered for so-so controls and stuff, but none of it ever stopped me. I replayed that game so much, I could probably still remember each of the different characters winning round catch phrases. |

Those few who liked the series all seem to think that number six was the best of the lot, and I agree that it was an awful lot of fun. But seven added a more interesting skill advancement system and a more enjoyable story. I've repalyed it at least a half dozen times, though I can't seem to make it run on XP. Maybe when I get a new computer I'll try it on Linux VM-ware. It would be nice to go back and play it again. |

I liked that game too. The main temple wasn't that bad at all if you remembered to make good notes. I haven't met anyone else that liked Freshly Picked, Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. Maybe it's because everyone seem to hate Tingle in general. |

Big AGREE on Legend of Mana. I thought SaGa Frontier was just a giant mess, though. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 847 Joined: 9 Apr 2008 | Street Fighter EX3. Seriously, get over it being 3d, its actually very fun, plus it was my first introduction to a couple wacky characters like Area. Oh, and Sonic Rush was extremely good, even better then the original Sonic games. You had a rather glorious return to 2d, just enough 3d graphics to look good, some awesome 3d boss battles that still captured the feel of the original games, and most people just lump it in with terrible Sonic games of recent memory. |

Legend of Mana... I rented that game for a weekend four years ago, and I actually got caught in the middle of the night by my parents because I had sneaked to the basement to play before I had to return it. I have yet to find a copy of the damn thing, now that I have a job and can afford it... |

For me that would be Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2.
The only real problem I saw was in Vegas 2 the story was stupid to say the least, and I felt no connection to the first Vegas.
Other than that they are two of my favorite games. I love the multiplayer in each of them. The idea for ACES sure brought the much of the grind out of unlocking new weapons that R6V had a small problem with.
