Chances are, you've come across a game that's so awesome and grounbreaking in your eyes, you forgo food and water and forget the outside world. Let's all share, shall we?
My two would probably be Diablo II and World of Warcraft...damn you, Blizzard. Also, I know this doesn't really count as mine, but a friend of mine got so addicted to Diablo he actually got insomnia...like, medical insomnia.

I'm not addicted to one game, but when I buy a new one, especially if I've been looking forward to playing it, I must finish it. All else comes second until then.

Learning new abilities.

I don't have to use them, I just want to know them.

FFTA2 is a great way to exercise this habit. It'll force you to spend about 3-5 minutes before every match making sure everyone has what they need.

I too have kicked my WoW addiction as of the beginning of the summer break.
But I think my next addiction will be Too Human or The Force Unleashed

Patapon and Meteos. Patapon just amazed me to no end, a rhythm game (which I usually hate) mixed with an RTS (which I always love) and incredibly cute but violent creatures. Meteos was just Tetris sped up really fast, and when I closed my eyes I could see the game screen and play it in my head.

It would have to be Runescape or Pokemon Yellow. After playing Pokemon for so long, I couldn't sleep because the music kept playing in my head.

Not even close it was Xenogears. That took 3-5 hours of my day every day for like a week.

Xenosaga? We're talking about game addictions, not movies :P

I prefer Xenogears, the much much better one.

I never had this sort of addiction, and I never will have either. The only kind of addiction I do get however is when I play only a single game for extended periods and not getting off until I've cleared it (singleplayer) more than 5 times.

This happened with:

Devil May Cry 1 and 3
Resident Evil 4
Metal Gear Solid 4
WoW (I played it for extended periods but it's really been slow lately)
Oblivion

Team Fortress Classic
On 56k back then, pay per minute, several hours a day. Made me skint.

I guess I would have to say Super Mario RPG for the SNES. Just loved playing that game... and then sadly would have to return it to blockbuster, never could find it in the stores either.

I guess my first was Runescape... The original 2D one, that is. Then it was Empire Earth (Playing online) which I was pretty much a god at, and after that it was WoW. I've kicked them all, but still occasionally drop in on Empire Earth. The servers are running dry now though...

When i got my hands on Kingdom Hearts 2 i played it for two straight days and completed it.
I don't know if that's addictive behaviour, but it's the worst i've ever gotten with a game.
Although i don't think it's healthy that i still play Fable after 4 years.
I also play WoW. most of the time i get bored with the grind and just walk around in the game world, good thing i've got no money now, i won't get bled dry for doing something i can just as easily do in real life.

I have the same problem. 130 hours on my character. It was only to be expected, really. I spent way too much time on Morrowind. I'm guessing about 300-400 hours. I'm a lost cause, I know.

I have 120 hours on my best character. Then I have around 60 hours for my second best. Then I have craploads of level 10 characters that I tried to use but never got the feel of them. In total I've got around 300 hours minimum spent on that game. I still occasionally play it aswell. I'm a huge Oblivion nerd, I'm in love with it.

The only addiction I've had in gaming was DDR. I played on Heavy everyday for 4 hours. Though it's probably a good adiction to have.

Pokemon Pearl. Made me do absolutely no work for half a year, and I got the closest I have ever gotten (still not that close) to failing Year 9.

I still play it from time to time, but I regulate myself; I have my HSC soon.

I used to have a pretty bad Civilization IV addiction. Like the type of addiction you would expect from a WoW gamer.
