Copy Clerk Posts: 52 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | I get what you guys refer to 'addicted' to any game I play. I clocked Need for Speed Underground 1 and 2 and STILL haven't got sick of it! So weird since I'm not a racing gamer. Now I must get all the magazines because I didn't last time... |

I'm not quite sure whether I should be impressed or worried. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 712 Joined: 27 Jun 2008 | I don't see how so many people were so addicted to Warcraft. I mean, it was pretty fun and I played it for about a year, but I could actually put the damned thing down whenever I wanted too. Yeah, I had a level 70, but it took me a year to get one because I didn't play it very often. I was too busy doing other things. I dunno, I guess some people just have less self control than others. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 60 Joined: 2 Jun 2008 | As I've said in previous threads, I've clocked my 500th hour on Oblivion for the X360. The scary thing is I've never played World of Warcraft for fear of getting addicted but the temptation to play it is greater than ever.. What with people revealing how much time they spent on it. |

Paperboy Posts: 33 Joined: 25 Jun 2008 | Diablo II for sure...I got hooked on Oblivion one time when my gf at the time unknowing to me wasn't paying the full bills and we lost internet/phone/TV for a couple months...and to an extent when I was younger I'll say FFVIII. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 59 Joined: 15 Aug 2008 | I logged in heavy hours on a MUD for several years -- since I broke free of that I've been terrified of trying any of the WoW / EQ type of gaming, since I can't afford to get that sucked into a new game. I played SecondLife for about a month figuring it might be a happy medium, but it's not for me. |

I eschewed fast travel in favor of a walk through the game's beautiful environments to go animal and bandit hunting and next thing I knew I had 250 hours of gameplay, had beaten every quest in both vanilla and Shivering Isles, and maxed my character's level at 47. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 90 Joined: 15 Dec 2007 | System Shock 2. Started at 9pm, finished at 11pm. The next day. And oh no, I didn't win it. I didn't win it for months, maybe years. That was just one of many runs, a few too many of which ended after 4am. No game put the shits up me like Shock 2. Not even Grey Slayer. Well alright, maybe Grey Slayer... |

Muckraker Posts: 229 Joined: 18 Aug 2008 | Only a few games have truly been addictive for me. Most games I play give me the feeling of wanting to have another go, but these ones are the ones I just could not put down and could not stop thinking about: WoW, of course, 45 days logged on my main, though I've kicked the habit and hardly play it anymore. Dance Dance Revolution - got into it by accident, then quickly got into the habit of trying harder and harder songs and practising until I beat them. Within a year I was competing in national tournaments. I don't play it much now, but it carried on for a good two or three years. Deus Ex - hooked until the end, staying up until 3am some nights. Final Fantasy VII. |

Paperboy Posts: 24 Joined: 21 Aug 2008 | As much as I hate to admit it... World of Warcraft. I'd been playing since the final stress test and it then proceeded to feed off my soul day and night for the next four years. After many unsuccessful attempts to quit, I came to my senses and erased every semblance of that game from my computer, deleted all WoW related bookmarks, etc. I've been sober ever since. It's difficult to stay completely away though since my brother got a job working for Blizzard last year. |

I've had intermittent addictions to things like onimusha, and command and conquer before. Neither one compares to the soul-devouring dalliance I had with Supreme Commander though, I just recovered from another brief attraction to mass effect, but this wednesday my resolve will be tested when Too Human comes out. Norse Mythology AND Cyberpunk, I don't stand much chance.
