Paperboy Posts: 47 Joined: 6 Aug 2008 | I just watched the ZP parody part, don't much care for the rest of it. It was interesting, and a fairly well done parody, and though I disagree with some of the things said, I must say, he makes a few good points. Whatever happened to the days when game play and camera control were more important then story, cut scenes, voice acting, and graphics? The prettiest game with the most epic story, the greatest voice acting and the most crisp clean and high detailed graphics ever made, is still going to be a shitty game if it plays like Turok. "Here is the unpleasant truth: Your teachers lied to you when they said that anyone, even you, can become an astronaut. Some people are just naturally better at certain things then others. There is something called talent. No matter how hard I try, I will never paint the Mona Lisa, or invent the Quantum Computer. No matter how hard you try, you'll never finish Contra without cheating." I couldn't agree more. No matter how much I play Counter Strike, or DOA4, I will never have a future in the CGS. I am just not that talented. |

You spelled "you're" wrong.
You spelled 'spelled' wrong. 'sup, I know you have 1.4k posts, but honestly no one cares. If most of your posts are criticizing spam that don't contribute anything, then it doesn't mean anything, especially when you can't practice what you preach. |

Things are usually better if you don't have to be part of a crowd JUST to 'get' them. That way C.A.D. lies... |
Copy Clerk Posts: 114 Joined: 22 Jul 2008 | I probably would have enjoyed but that accent was terrible, was he trying to speak in an English accent or something? |

Works the same for only 51 posts as well...No count hatred please. |

Heeey, it's cool. I just like well-formed criticism and not criticism for the sake of throwing around your clout, I personally don't care about post counts, it's just this guy is being a dick and maybe he just needs to have it known he is. It's sort of like having a guy telling you that your windsor is too tight while he's wearing a clip-on tie, you just go 'what.' and get irritated. Maybe he's trying to be helpful, maybe he's just coming off across the wrong way. I've been seeing his arbitrary posts in quite a few topics and I'm pointing out my (and more than likely) other people's displeasure about it. |

Arsed. lol |
Server Administrator Posts: 588 Joined: 27 Sep 2004 | I've always thought Pure Pwnage was pretty damn funny, and while the parody may have been a bit on the long side for my short attention span, it was pretty dead on to me in the overall style. Good stuff! And he even called himself out on the accent. ;) |

Being part of the "In" crowd involves watching some Internet TV ;) Nothing special. I didn't sign up for anything, nor do I have the T-Shirt. Although I would like one :D |

Mind you, I am on pain medication that makes me groggy; and spelt is a word, and if the OP is too lazy to scroll down a little before posting, well then that's not my problem. |

Obviously, it is if you take the time to point it out every single instance. Tact never hurt. |

I thought it was good. Anyways, have you ever seen pure pwnage? If it was some random video I saw without ever seeing pure pwnage before, I wouldn't have liked it as much though. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4411 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | Oi, cutscenes are only being replaced with quicktime events and being able to move your head during the cutscene, and Moral Choice games seem to make it a joke, it was kinda irritating in Mass Effect when you realized all 3 choices on the right lead to the same thing. Err, back on topic...WOW, haven't seen "PP" in a while but that was a good parody, hell give him yahtzee's voice and it's uncanny. |

However I just watch ZP for hopes of crossing another Psychonauts and Painkiller to go find at the local thrift shop at this point. After a while it feels...rehearsed is the best term I can think of. As to the humor, I should be able to watch a sketch and get most of the humor from it, I shouldn't have to spend 5 minutes (Doing the smart thing and just looking it up on the googles/wikis) to 45 (watching all the perquisite videos) to get a joke. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1033 Joined: 14 May 2008 | I just think that it's weird how people only seem to be annoyed with this because they didn't find it funny. It seems that if this parody had made them laugh then they would have congratulated the guy on his fine choice of source material. For example, you say that it's not funny how he called himself 'Nahtzee'. Well, excuse him for adding something that didn't instantly create raucous laughter. It's not as if he expected everyone to be rolling on the floor uncontrollably because of what he said. And both 'spelled' and 'spelt' are accepted as real worlds. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 5 Joined: 15 Aug 2008 | I think a lot of ZP fans didn't like it as if you actually take it at face value it is attacking both yourselves and Yahtzee. However, it isn't supposed to be taken at face value, it's comedy. Personally I would just love to see what Yahtzee thinks of it! |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 721 Joined: 24 Feb 2008 | Was this done to bash yahtzee or was it to praise him? Parody (like a cheerleader) goes both ways (just kidding... maybe). It can be used to highlight the good or bad points in everything, such as... Jerry Lewis. But that's just MY opinion... I could be wrong. (Not bloody likely!) |

BANNED Posts: 1476 Joined: 14 May 2008 | Pretty amusing. Actually didn't recognize the accent (even though I'm Canadian). Then again, I'm Canadian, so the only accent I'm able to pick-out from Canadians is the much loved "East Coast" accent Newfoundland made popular. Also, YOU'RE HOLDING THE P90 WRONG. It is because our lack of guns and indoor plumbing we are funny. We can make jokes at another's expense because we don't need to worry about them ventilating us afterwards. And poop jokes are always funny. This on the otherhand I didn't find this all that amusing. I guess because I read the same thing here day after day on either side. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1540 Joined: 15 Dec 2008 | That was unfunny, very unfunny. I've seen funerals that produced more amiable humor. Please don't ever link that again. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 392 Joined: 25 Sep 2008 | I thought it was very funny, and a very well-done parody. But actually what struck me as the funniest thing of all was that him and Yahtzee have some pretty fundamentally different viewpoints on why games are fun, yet are both ardently screaming for good games to be made. Oh, and a quick side-note, I didn't even realize "Nahtzee" was supposed to be a joke off of Nazi... and maybe it wasn't? My first reaction was that it was a play on the word "naught," but obviously spelled to resemble "yahtzee." Naught being nothing, sort of a clever way of saying "not yahtzee." Which you could also suggest simply from the sound. Overall, nazi didn't even occur to me until after I saw someone's comment on the matter. |
