At the time I liked runescape (Dont' judge me). Knight Online was fine until they enforced payment while claiming they were free. Finally, Guild Wars. Eventually the computer multi-died and it took 10 minutes to get to the log off button. DarkEden was bad, not because of the gameplay itself (despite it benig keinda unbalanced, but because every other person overused hacks.

Silkroad Online....I shudder in disgust at the very sound of it's name.

WoW would suck if you went into it all solo-minded for sure.

AoC seems to have an interesting looking combat system but, sadly, even though my PC passes the minimum specs, it gets a blue screen of death after running the game for more than a minute or so >.<

I liked WoW and some of the people I played with but I hated what it did to my social life. So I dub it both the best and the worst in my opinion.

I can only say WoW, because thats the ONLY one I have played, so I can't really say if i like it or not as I don't plan on going back to MMORPG's

I would have to say either a tie with most hated between Runescape with it's bullshit moments, 90% of the people on there calling everyone lower level than them a noob, and laborious quests that feel like work, Trickster with it's almost utterly useless Gunman class, and Flyff with it's most obviously tacked on flying feature. My favorite I would say Diablo 2 with it's limited player feature to keep the smacktards to a minimum and somewhat balanced character system.

WoW has its issues, and while I dont hate the game in particular, I do hate many things about it. I would have to say worse MMO to me is Maple Story (Even Worse then Runescape, though I dislike Runescape greatly as well), and my favourite still is CoH/CoV, but that may change when CO comes out.

AoC is one of the worst P2P ones out.

I haven't had too much experience with MMO's but Dark Age of Camelot was the best one I've seen visually, the gameplay was pretty good, but the lack of balance in the classes was what would keep me from buying it (my girlfriend plays it).

all MMO's suck for their one click combat and spell systems. but since you said "online OR"
best online RPG: Fable 2 (it has a co-op and I'm already ready to say it's better than all MMO's and every RPG I played. Not saying a lot since my only RPG is Elder scrolls.)

I love Guild Wars more than any other mumorpuger. Personally, my least favourite is Runescape, but comparing a free game to a 140 peso game is unfair, so I'll say WoW. It is repetitive and generic.

Guild wars might as well be free, it costs 30$ to play it forever. That's such a particle effect on your wallet compared to WOW sucking up 180$ a year.

I agree, although this may seem like the height of hypocrisy since I played WoW for like 3 years. WoW was good until they decided to try and polish their PvP system and ended up shifting the focus from raiding to resilience. And the fact that practically no skill was required to play most of the classes efficiently and it was incredibly gear dependent.

EVE is great too, I'll admit-- but I think it really only has appeal to a very specific type of gamer... and I am clearly not one of them.

I think I could definately like AoC and indeed, on the 5 minutes it worked for me the combat system seemed very nice. But my PC just can't handle that kind of power :D

Star Wars Galaxies was friggin' great before SOE decided to completely fuck it up. It was such a unique MMO in a sea of soon-to-be WoW clones.

The worst MMO I have played would probably have to be Runescape or RO. Both are terrible.

the best mumorpurger i've ever played is the one i didn't play. srsly, i don't like them.

Playing the EVE trail, I frikin' love it but there is now way I can make the commitment, even if it was free.

Anyway, EVE gets my vote, and for the worst I give it to Hellgate London.

I would say RuneScape, but that's now classified as a sin against nature; not a game. My favorite and most hated would be Conquer Online. I played it until I had the oldest character on my server, sad but true. The game screwed my class (Warriors), which is ironic for all the armor that covered my luscious posterior.

Runescape= Bad.
It's only fun when you pay for exclusive skills, missions, and such.
But if you don't have money- it just become repetitive and boring

The title of "worst" has to go to WoW for me, too. Not mainly because of what it IS, but of what it has DONE. And that is warping the MMORPG market with it's success, so all those clones sprung up.

The title of "best" goes, IMHO, to EverQuest 2, but that's only because it shines in todays market.

It's kinda like saying hard shit is better than diarrhea (with EQ2 being hard and WoW being the liquid one...): Yes, hard shit IS better, but it still stays SHIT.

Oh, I don't hate them. In fact, I want to love them. Dearly.
I started with MUDs and later with Ultima Online, and have played most MMOs in existance at least for a month. It's just that ever since UO the devs force the grind and the MM aspects instead of the RPG traits. But noone actually cared to balance those.

And noone come at me with "you can always roleplay if you want to." We all know that this is utter BS. The sandboxes ain't made for RPGing, no sir. The most they allow is for naked Elf bellydancing and "thou talketh funny, stranger"-crap.

For me, the best I've ever played was Earth and Beyond. It was fun as hell and had a lot of options, originality, good back story, and little to no grinding needed to level, especially if you played as one of the non-warrior classes. Would probably still be around had EA not shut down the servers. Westwood studios best title if I may say.

The worst MMORPG I've ever played would probably be....um....everything else.

Honorable mention goes to E.V.E. Online, but after playing it I couldn't help but feel as though it was a dumbed-down ripoff of E&B.

I hated and I mean HATED City of Villians, I'd hear all this great stuff about the game and it looked fun. So when found in the $6 bin, I went for it. Installed, hours of updates, registering a credit card so I can have my free month. Hated it. I love the character design screen and I can see it as being the only reason I'd play the game. The rest of it sucked.

I like WoW, I've never been able to play it enough to damage my social life. The only reason I decide to get the game was to stay in contact with a friend who moved across the country.

Grats, I've lurked the Escapist forums for maybe a month or two now and many a thread hath come tempting me to register, and this one actually made me do it :3

Anyways, looking back, I'd have to say that Dark Age of Camelot was THE best MMO i have ever played (Albion Avalonian Theurgist ftw?)! And i mean it, my main (the theurgist aforementioned), also my highest level, never even hit 35 i don't think, but I just had SO much fun in the battlegrounds. The dungeons i had played were absolutely great too! But then again, im a total fanboy of anything involving King Arthur legends >_> Also, i'm a big fan of Guild Wars, used to GvG a LOT, and EQ2 has great PvE (and I'm a PvP kinda player :O). Not to mention Earth & Beyond. I only played the trial but it had me hooked for every minute of it!

The worst? Well that's a tough call. Like others have said, I hate WoW now because of what has been done to it. BC turned it into a 90 degree hill towards Fail Valley. CoV got very repetitive very quickly, but I absolutely love the concept. EQ1 was GREAT when i first played it (when i was like 7 XD) and up to LDoN it was pretty good, but if you try and play it now, it kinda sucks. I used to play RuneScape a lot until I realized I was playing RuneScape, and Conquer Online is absolutely repulsive to me.

I'm sure there's more, but i wanna get back to reading other's thoughts :D
