I just searched google for "girly power armour"
That is a united states Marine's dress sword. as in the modern united states marines. And the darth vader thing is power armour. It's electronicly powered to make his frail and burnt body be able to move. That would make it power armour, not the same as that blatant rip off of a warhammer 40k space marine you can see down the bottom. But power armour all the same. |

Dress Sword. As in not used in real combat like a gun. By all means then some girlish boys count then since some have guns just they are never used/picked up/useful (FF7!) Not a marine. |

In the elder scrolls games, I play an enchanter. I enchant everything I own until i'm just a giant walking war crime. Gauntlets that shoot fireballs the size of small houses. Pants that let me fly. Rings of invisibility. Swords that also shoot fireballs of improbable size. THE HAMMER OF ULTIMITE SMITING!! I don't go in for the girly man with his giant sword. I'm more of a "Bring more guns than the other guy" style of fighting. |

Well I guess the official games workshop model (you know the guys who made Warhammer 40K in 1987) doesn't count and even then it is in a game. Dawn of War. http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/8827/chaosarmydealco6.jpg http://exe.gotfrag.com/files/upload/galleryimage_15831_t.jpg |

You mean master chief? Think about it: he's armored, he's a space marine, at times he has a (plasma) sword, and he has emotions (for cortana, I guess), which are girly (I hope you saw the irony of that last part). Although I'd like to say I don't care, I have to say space marine, but not invincible ones like Master Chief. Rather, ones who still seem human, who can do wrong, but still serve the greater good, like Shepard from Mass Effect. Given more choices than the two, characters like Raz and Amaterasu would be at the top of the list. |

Really difficult to agree with you on the Japanese guys part. |
Muckraker Posts: 302 Joined: 19 May 2008 | i like people who are believable characters. Japaniese girly warrior boys just annoy me. The marines in power armour how ever at least add the fun factor. Who doesnt like absorbing a sea of bullets and dishing out enough firepower to turn china into a ghost-town |

I don't remember what text it was, but it was referring to rules for fencing. The measurement reffered to the regulation length of a sabre. And as to your second statement, the games you reference may be realistic, but they are fantastic as well. A common person in those sorts of situations would likely go insane or into a state of shock. What makes characters interesting is that they are NOT common. The fact that they are different, that theu are not just another bevery-man, but rather a hero, is what makes it fun to play a game. The element of fantasy is what makes a game enjoyable. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3508 Joined: 20 Aug 2008 | Given those two choices I'd much rather play as Master Chief/Duke Nukem/Marcus Fenix than some bishounen wuss whose prime purpose in life is to be the star of gay slash fanfiction involving the game's main villain and/or Sephiroth, Harry Potter, or Dave Coulier. |

Why can't we have a pumped killer who is a girlish boy with a big sword. |

... Have you met Fei Fong Wong from Xenogears? I mean that guy's got issues but he's also one of the strongest fighters in the world, he just doesn't know it until later in the game. Why is it everyone uses FFVII as the benchmark for "JRPG's" when just as many have a guy who's somewhat likable and relatable as the protagonist and he doesn't even look female? Fei, Citan, Jr, and Yuri all don't look like women and don't have stupidly sized swords, Cloud doesn't look like a girl (he just looks like he got smacked with enough jell to choke the local monkey) and he's a genetically modified human, they probably gave his muscles the strength equivalent to a freaking ant. |

BANNED Posts: 1266 Joined: 19 Dec 2008 | Well although I hate the little nonces weilding swords the size of cars I also hate power armoured space marines. The only ones I do allow are official Space Marines and thats really cause its their thing! Plus theres a specific level of girlyness I can tolerate. Cloud is okay, Tidus is not...
